Mark Levin: ‘The Republican Party has Surrendered’

Mark Levin: “A handful of conservatives are fighting the good fight. The Republican Party has surrendered.”

Constitutional Attorney, leading talk show host, and author of the new bestseller, The Liberty Amendments, Mark Levin, a lifelong Republican, slammed the Republican Party establishment and leadership, including John Boehner, in an appearance on Your World with Neil Cavuto on FOX News (see video below). In an extensive interview with Cavuto, initially about Obama’s arbitrarily and unconstitutionally rewriting parts of Obamacare, Levin makes the point that these actions are an example that we’re living in a “post-constitutional” America.

NEIL CAVUTO: Mark, I’m wondering as I finish reading this book, whether it’s already too late. MARK LEVIN: I hope it’s not too late. But my suggestion is, with Obamacare and all the rest that is going on here, we need to breathe life back into the Constitution. I argue we’re in a post-constitutional period for the most part. This is evidence of it. Obamacare was passed unconstitutionally.

Congress did not have the power to do this. It was signed by the president who didn’t have the power to sign this into law and the Supreme Court twisted the Constitution, and amended the Constitution, to give its imprimatur to this, and now you see, 2,700 pages…20,000 pages of regulations. Pelosi said, “pass it and we’ll know what’s in it.” We passed it and we still don’t know what’s in it.

Levin then alludes to, as Harry Reid recently admitted, that Obamacare is the precursor to a full-on communist, single-payer system.

NEIL CAVUTO: Do you think they actually did know what was in it, they just weren’t going to share it?

MARK LEVIN: I think they did this massive law written by all these special interests and so forth — and ideologues, and they figured as time went on they would manipulate it, just as they are now, and if it falls, then they’ll push their single-payer plan. The fact of the matter is, they’ve taken an entire private industry and turned it on its head.

Levin then slammed Supreme Court Chief Justice, John Roberts, for turning “the Constitution on its head,” by “rewriting the bill and changing the meaning of the bill,” for redefining the non-compliance penalties, which both Obama, who signed the law, and Democrat congressman who wrote the bill, said were penalties and were not taxes. Levin then took aim at his own Republican Party establishment and the political consultant class, specifically naming Karl Rove for exhibiting great weakness in the fight to defund Obamacare:

NEIL CAVUTO: What happens to this (Obamacare) now? Another delay. Republicans are saying, defund it, even if it risks the government shutdown to force it.

Levin clarifies with Cavuto that it’s not the Republican Party establishment that is pushing to defund Obamacare, but a handful of bold, principled conservatives like Ted Cruz, Mike Lee and Rand Paul, who are “fighting the good fight.”

MARK LEVIN: No, no…a handful of conservatives are fighting the good fight. The Republican Party has surrendered. The Republican Party, despite Karl Rove and others telling you there’s a thousand ways to kill it, there’s not. And the fact of the matter is, they won’t even make an argument against it. They have these phony votes on repealing that they knew would not be considered. The power of the purse is the only way to address this.
