Howie Carr: Massachusetts lawmakers determined today … to ignore you!

No tax breaks, no suspension of the gas tax — but help for illegals

If you’re a taxpaying, law-abiding U.S. citizen crushed by inflation who would like to have the state’s 23-cent-a-gallon gas tax suspended temporarily, the Massachusetts Legislature has a message for you:

No!

If you’re an illegal immigrant looking for yet another handout — a state drivers’ license you have no legal right to — this same Legislature has a message for you, amigos:

Si!

This is the day that the state House is slated to officially override the veto by Gov. Charlie Baker of the license-for-illegals bill. Barring a miracle, the state Senate will follow suit Thursday.

Drivers’ licenses for illegals tells you everything you need to know about the misplaced priorities of the Democrat party in Massachusetts.

The average price of a gallon of gasoline here reached another record high Tuesday — $5. By comparison, on election day 2020, it was $2.10 a gallon. But the hacks at the State House don’t care. They’ve repeatedly voted thumbs down on any gasoline-tax relief for anyone who actually works for a living and pays taxes.

They’d much prefer to take care of their beloved non-working classes, and today it’s the turn of the undocumented Democrats – illegal immigrants.
To stop this latest travesty, the taxpayers would need to flip about 20 votes in the House, all of them Democrats. That would uphold the governor’s veto (not that he’s really serious about that, but at least he went through the motions).

With fentanyl deaths soaring because of Dementia Joe Biden’s insane open-borders policy, the Legislature on Beacon Hill will today make it easier than ever for the state’s fentanyl dealers to conduct their deadly business unimpeded by law enforcement.

The Boston Police Department’s intelligence division, known as BRIC, reported a few years back in its “Heroin Overdose Report” that of those arrested for trafficking in Class A drugs – opiates — 65% were foreign-born, and of those, 84% were Dominicans.

“Dominican drug traffickers,” the Boston Police Department reported, “will use identities stolen from Puerto Rico to acquire drivers’ licenses in Massachusetts.”

Heroin trafficking in Boston, the report concluded, “is largely controlled by Dominican drug organizations.”

Illegal Dominicans, it goes without saying. And now they won’t even have to lay out a grand or so for those bogus Puerto Rican documents. They can just go down to their local RMV office and pick up a driver’s license.
What could possibly go wrong?

As Baker said, in a fleeting moment of coherence: “A standard MA driver’s license will no longer confirm that a person is who they say they are.”
And that’s just the way your local fentanyl dealer wants it, gringo.

Baker continued that this insane handout will require the Commonwealth “to issue state credentials to people without the ability to verify their identity.”
In their endless stampede to expand the welfare-collecting underclasses, Democrats say this is no big deal. They won’t be voting, they won’t be collecting welfare – wink wink nudge nudge.

No one seems that concerned about whether the new Third World drivers’ licenses will include any way to differentiate between American citizens and those who just blew in seeking asylum – asylum from work, that is.
But the fact is, it doesn’t matter what “safeguards” may or may not have been written into the legislation. We all know what will soon happen: one of the illegal “advocacy” groups, flush with Soros-type money, will file a class-action suit.

If the state cops at the Registry are still using, say, facial-recognition technology to weed out the recidivist heroin dealers, the advocates will rush into court. The Globe will obligingly write a slobbering puff piece about some illegal aspiring rapper turning his life around, as they did with the serial-killing MS-13 gang banger and his “fiancee.”

As soon as the suit is filed, the Commonwealth, assuming that Maura Healey is elected governor, will then “settle” the suit – again, wink wink nudge nudge.

As part of the “settlement,” the illegals will be able to obtain the exact same licenses as people who pay taxes and play by the rules – suckers, in other words.

This is straight out of the playbook the Democrats are using for the fundamental transformation of America.

As if the Registry isn’t incompetent enough already — they just announced the recalls of 53,680 defective licenses.

Now tens of thousands of foreign grifters and con artists are going to be banging down the doors. Will they have to call ahead and make appointments, like Americans have to?

It’s a chore, getting all your documents in order before you go to the Registry. At least if you’re an American.

I got a text from an American in the 617 area code Monday night:

“Drove to Woburn from Boston for my 16-year-old’s learner’s permit. We had more than enough ‘documents’ with us except her birth certificate which was a Xerox copy. She stood there excited in her Catholic school uniform. After scanning everything into the computer and taking her photo, they noticed it was a copy and refused to give her the code to take the test. WTF. They scan it, isn’t that the same thing as a copy?”

If only your daughter were an illegal, she wouldn’t need no stinkin’ birth certificate, to paraphrase a certain bandido who shot Humphrey Bogart in an old movie.

Phil Collins once sang, “It’s no fun being an illegal alien.”

That was in 1983. In 2022, it’s a lot more fun being an illegal than it is being an American, because there aren’t any rules or laws for them, just us.
As I always say, if I ever get jammed up, I ask for no special treatment. Just treat me like an “illegal alien.”
