PERRY TWP. (Ohio) — A Mexican man suspected of driving drunk already had an outstanding warrant accusing him of drunk driving when an Ohio Highway Patrol trooper pulled him over Thursday.

He also had a forged international license, Stark County Jail records said.

Jose A. Martinez-Lopez, 27, who lives in Apt. A-7 at 3516 Lincoln Way E in Perry Township, remained in the jail early Friday, held without bond for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers. Jail records show he is a native of Mexico.

Martinez-Lopez was driving somewhere on 12th Street at 2:14 a.m. Thursday when the trooper saw him weaving, the jail records said. Records did not indicate if it was 12th Street NW or SW.

When the trooper asked for his driver’s license, Martinez-Lopez handed him the only license he had. The trooper determined it had been forged, discovered the warrant and then arrested him.

Martinez-Lopez was booked into the jail on the warrant charging him with driving while intoxicated. He was additionally charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, no driver’s license, no safety belt, a marked lanes violation, felony forgery and felony criminal tools possession.

Stark County Court records show he was also convicted of drunk driving in 2006.
