Thread: Chillicothe woman demands apology from Donald Trump Jr. after mistaken identity

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - Portia Boulger is the social media coordinator for a grassroots campaign supporting Bernie Sanders for President.
“I'm no celebrity,” she said. “I'm no big name out there.”
Boulger says that changed Saturday when suddenly the 63 year old was thrust into the political ring by a tweet.
“My son called me and said ‘look at your Facebook page somebody's slandered you,’” she said.
The photo shows a woman making a Nazi salute wearing a Donald Trump shirt with a picture of Boulger at the bottom.
A photographer from the Chicago Tribune took the larger photo, and someone else added Boulger's photo to the tweet.
Boulger said she wasn’t at the rally in Chicago.
“I was at the union hall in Chillicothe, Ohio getting out the vote for Bernie Sanders,” she said.
The tweet she says was retweeted by Donald Trump Jr. and was retweeted thousands of times. She claims the photo led to threats.
“I have been threatened on my Facebook page, someone posted that they hoped I got raped by someone with AIDS and died of cancer,” Boulger said. “They hoped my children died of cancer, they hoped my children's children died of cancer that is very, very serious threats.”

Boulger hired a Washington D.C. attorney who wrote this letter to Trump Jr:

"Your assertion that it was Ms. Boulger who is pictured giving a Nazi salute is unequivocally, demonstratively false, as you could easily have discovered.
Accordingly, as you have deleted the subject tweets, and retweets, Ms.Boulger demands that you issue, through Twitter an unequivocal retraction of your false and defamatory assertion.”

As for Boulger, she's believes whoever created the tweet did so deliberately to silence her political views. She's says she's not backing down.
“If common citizens allow something like this to intimidate us and take away our voices then we become a fascist state,” she said.
The woman in the photo that people thought was Boulder is actually Birgitt Peterson of suburban Chicago.
She told the New York Times that she was merely mocking protesters and told the Times she is a not a Nazi.
Boulger also requested the actor James Woods to remove the photo from his twitter page.
She says she’s yet to hear back from Trump Jr. or Woods.

The person that actually created the message is responsible and it was "retweeted thousands of times" is she planning on suing every person that retweeted it or just the ones that she knows have money?JMO

I wonder if she's ever retweeted something that turned out to be false or photo-shopped or wrong? I think this just goes with the territory of the tweet business. I really can't say because I don't tweet or facebook.
