Morsi Out as President in Egypt Despite Obama’s Efforts & Intimidation

How quickly things change. Yesterday, Egyptian President Morsi vowed to stick with things and would not be pushed out of office. Obama threatened to withhold aid if Morsi was ousted.
Today, it appears as though key leaders within the Muslim Brotherhood have been arrested and Morsi is out as president of Egypt, though Morsi denies it. According to one source, “The Egyptian Military said they were going to take over at 11AM EDT if Muslim Brotherhood President Mohammed Morsi did not reconcile with the opposition and meet the demands of the people.”
It looks like the military made good on its threat. Did Obama (and the Global Elite that backs him) really think that they could push as much as they have pushed without blowback? It doesn’t appear to be the case. People in the Middle East have no qualms about throwing up roadblocks to the things they do not like. They may take it for a while, but eventually, they will start pushing back. They know if they don’t, they will lose. They would rather go down with a fight than without one.
In the United States, we really don’t know what that means, experientially, at least in modern times. Too many are willing to give the government whatever it asks for “if it means our safety.” We think – because we are supposedly “civilized” – that the government would never take advantage of us. It has clearly been doing that for decades, but most of it has been done under the radar so it has made it difficult to face the threat.
In the Middle East, people call it as they see it and even if they’re not correct about their observations, they are willing to throw themselves into it with all the energy and commitment they can muster. Such has been the case in Egypt over the past few days with growing crowds opposed to President Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood. This level of angst has literally brought Morsi’s house down upon his head and put him in the precarious position of trying to defend himself against the hatred that has spread rapidly through the gathered crowds in response to the corruption in Morsi’s government. It seems that the deaths and injuries related to the protests have simply hardened the people’s resolve.
Earlier today, the military issued the following statement:
“The president is no longer able to make any political decisions now and a decision has been taken to prevent leaders loyal to the current regime from traveling overseas until the General Command of the Armed Forces are finished formulating their expected statement.”
Following the above statement, “Sheikh Abu Ishaq well-known Salafist preacher has issued a Fatwa to the protesting supporters of President Mohamed Morsi, they need to return to their homes right away and avoid bloodshed.”
For Morsi’s part, on his own Facebook page, he has rejected this military coup and also rejects the fact that he has been rejected as president. We’ll see what happens, but it doesn’t appear as though things will be resolved to everyone’s liking either.
It appears that even with Obama’s backing and his tongue lashing of Christians there who he felt did not support Morsi (gee, I wonder why?), Morsi is losing. What then will the Global Elite do about this?
The goal seems to have been replacing current dictators in the Middle East and North Africa with some stooge from the Muslim Brotherhood (or other Islamic-connected group). In essence then, the Global Elite has endeavored to put people in power whom they thought they could control and it would be far better if all of those people were cut from the same cloth. In the Middle East, Islam stands opposed to Israel (and pretty much everyone else). The more countries that exist in that region of the world, the greater the Islamic influence will be and the greater the threat to Israel.
At the same time, as soon as Morsi stepped into power, the Global Elite was right there with offers of support through tons of money and other resources. Much of that money came from the United States. The reason for that goes all the way back to Mayer Rothschild who basically said that whoever controls the money, controls the government. The Global Elite has always endeavored to control governments and money is the biggest tool allowing them to gain that control.
Did the U.S. provide financial aid to Egypt? Of course! Even again as recently as early March, 2013, another $250 million was sent over to Morsi. Why is our country giving all this money to Egypt? Because it puts Morsi in the unenviable position of being in our debt, not just financially, but politically as well. Ultimately, he is indebted to the Global Elite.
Apparently, Morsi is not doing a good job. He has his own ideas (not good when you’re dealing with the Global Elite) unlike Obama who is nothing more than a true “yes” man for the Global Elite. Morsi started thinking he was another Egyptian Pharaoh and that wasn’t good either. Obama loves himself but he also knows who butters his bread.
If we could all start looking beyond what we see to the reality that exists in the shadows, we would be much better off, at least in our understanding. Dennis Cuddy states the following: “As I have written before, the Power Elite (PE) doesn’t like strong national leaders because they might decide to act independently in a way not desired by the PE. Therefore, just as the PE wanted strong nationalists like Mossadegh in Iran removed from power in 1953 and Saddam Hussein removed from power in Iraq more recently, the PE now has decided Bashar al-Assad’s time is up in Syria. However, they have not armed the revolutionaries sufficiently to rout his army because they want his removal by negotiated settlement, probably under the auspices of the United Nations.”
Cuddy follows this up with the following statements:
“I have also written how the PE’s goal of a World Socialist Government (WSG) will be achieved by linking regional economic arrangements. This involves revolutions in the Middle East and North Africa bringing most Arab/Muslim nations under the control of the MB. This is why MB leader Mohamed Morsi became president of Egypt. However, because the PE doesn’t want strong national leaders, Morsi’s recent attempt to decree himself almost dictatorial power was resisted by large protests, and Morsi retreated from his power quest.”
The problem though with Morsi may have been that even though he “has endorsed the new Constitution’s reference to ‘the principles of Sharia’ rather than Sharia itself,” the fact that he tried (and failed) to gain dictatorial powers is a major concern for the Global Elite. How can he be trusted to do what the Global Elite wants now?
In the end, it may well be that though the Global Elite supports the Muslim Brotherhood (which is also why Obama’s administration is filled with individuals connected to the Muslim Brotherhood), Morsi is not the person with which they would rather settle. Replacing him with another MB puppet makes their world easier. If this is the case, then of course, they will have to find some “moderate” individual connected to the Muslim Brotherhood so that the people of Egypt think they’re getting what they want when in reality, it’s the Global Elite that’s getting what they want. In the end, I believe any person put in power in Egypt is merely a placeholder. Eventually, the Global Elite will come through and replace all leaders with one of their own.
It could also be that democratic forces are winning against the Muslim Brotherhood and the Global Elite. Only time will tell, but for now, it appears that the military is in charge in Egypt.
    UPDATE: Reuters reports:
The Muslim Brotherhood president, in office for just a year, was at a Republican Guard barracks surrounded by barbed wire, barriers and troops, but it was not clear whether he was under arrest. The state newspaper Al-Ahram said the military had told Mursi at 7 p.m. (1700 GMT) that he was no longer head of state.

Military chiefs, vowing to restore order in a country racked by protests over Mursi’s Islamist policies, earlier issued a call to battle in a statement headlined “The Final Hours”. They said they were willing to shed blood against “terrorists and fools”.
Armored vehicles took up position outside the state broadcasting headquarters on the Nile River bank, where soldiers patrolled the corridors and non-essential staff were sent home.
In another show of force, several hundred soldiers with armored vehicles staged a parade near the presidential palace, and security sources said Mursi and the entire senior leadership of his Muslim Brotherhood were banned from leaving the country.
Security sources told Reuters the authorities had sent a list of at least 40 leading members of the Brotherhood to airport police.
In a last-ditch statement a few minutes before the deadline, Mursi’s office said a coalition government could be part of a solution to overcome the political crisis. But opposition parties refused to negotiate with him and met instead with the commander of the armed forces.

We should stay out of it, cut off the aid. Egypt are mostly Sunni so they'll just elect another Theocratic Sharia leader. One of the reason for our concern is the stability and acess to Suez Canal for oil tankers getting to the med.

GAME OVER: Egypt’s President Morsi Toppled by Armed Forces

Protesters in Tahrir Square use lasers to demanding President Morsi’s resignation

Protesters across Egypt have erupted into celebration following news that Egypt’s Armed Forces has removed President Morsi from power. The move came following the expiration of an ultimatum that was issued by the Military 48-hours ago, demanding the President respond to the Egyptian people’s aspirations.

In a televised address, the Military ushered in a new era in Egypt’s future and declared the removal of President Morsi from office. Head of the Supreme Constitutional Court, Adly Mansour, will rule Egypt during the transitional period.

Armed Forces Chief outlined the roadmap for the coming months, which will include:
    1. Suspending the constitution and forming a committee to look into amendments of the constitution.
    2. Holding early Presidential elections, until which the head of the Supreme Constitutional Court will be in charge.
    3. Creating a national coalition government that represents the aspirations of all Egyptians

At the start of the statement, Armed Forces Chief Abdel Fattah Al Sisi stated that since 2012, national dialogue had been accepted by all parties except the Presidency. He added that the Military expressed its concerns over threats to the Egyptian people on June 30.

However, the Military Chief stated that it was Morsi’s final speech that forced the Armed Forces to take decisive action in order to meet the demands of the people. In his speech, Morsi refused to bow to the Military’s ultimatum and vowed to defend “legitimacy” with his blood. Morsi had called for the Egyptian people to stand with him in the name of “legitimacy” and warned against attempts by “thugs” and “remnants of the former regime” to violate the “legitimacy and constitutionality” of his Presidency. The word “legitimacy” was stated 57 times, in a speech that was seen as a veiled threat towards the Military.

An Egyptian Military helicopter flies over protesters in Tahrir Square earlier today.

Following the Military Chief’s statement, Coptic Pope Tawardors and Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Ahmed El-Tayyed, and Dr. Mohammed El-Baradei (spokesperson of the June 30 revolution) all gave a short speech in support of the Military’s move. The three individuals all declared that this roadmap achieves the aspirations of the Egyptian people.

In response to the Military’s moves, the Egyptian Presidency’s Twitter account stated that Morsi believed “measures announced by Armed Forces leadership represent a full coup categorically rejected by all the free men of our nation.”

Post-Revolution Egypt – Clamping Down On Islamists

Minutes following the conclusion of the Armed Forces’ televised address, Islamist-run channels, including Hafez, Al-Nas, and the Brotherhood run Misr 25 have all been taken off-air. Early reports indicate that several Islamist television hosts, including Khamees from Misr 25 and Khaled Abdallah from Al-Nas, were arrested on charges of inciting violence.

Earlier in the day, reports indicated that travel bans were issued for Former President Morsi, the Muslim Brotherhood’s Supreme Guide Mohammed Badei, Deputy Supreme Guide Khairat El-Shater, and 230 other leading Islamist figures and members of the Muslim Brotherhood. The bans were in response to overnight violence at Cairo University that killed at least 28 people and injured more than 300.

Security and military sources had declared that Morsi was moved to an undisclosed location after being put under house arrest. However, during the Military’s televised address, Morsi’s current state was not mentioned and it is unclear where the Former President is currently located.

Egyptian Army deploys in Egypt’s streets

In preparation to expected violence following Morsi’s toppling, Egypt’s Armed Forces had deployed across Egypt at vital locations to ensure the protection of protesters and the state’s institutions. Thousands of soldiers, accompanied by armoured vehicles, filled Egypt’s streets just hours before the Military’s statement.

Today, July 3rd 2013, marked the fourth day of Anti-Morsi protests that have been called “the largest of their kind in the history of mankind” after attracting up to 30 million protesters nation-wide. The protests had initially been called for by the Tamarod (Rebellion) Campaign which collected more than 23 million signatures in a petition that called for the removal of confidence from Former President Morsi.

Updates from Egypt including Breaking News:

    * Security sources and reports are indicating that Supreme Guide of the Muslim Brotherhood Mohammed Badei has been arrested in Marsa Matrouh by Egyptian police forces.

    * An Egyptian Court has ordered one year prison for Prime Minister Hisham Qandil after it rejected his appeal on charges of ignoring another court order.

    * The President's advisor has stated that President Morsi is in the Presidential Guard's residence and he is unsure whether the President can leave (i.e. whether he is under house arrest or not). Meanwhile, Al-Ahram reports that the President has been stripped of his Presidential powers. Other reports appear to confirm this, stating that the Presidential Guard has declared that it now responds to Military Chief Abdel Fattah Al Sissi and not President Morsi.

    * Supporters of the President in Rabaa Al-Adaweya are relatively calm and sources indicate a "depressed" atmosphere as they await the Military's statement.

    * Unconfirmed reports indicate that the Shura council (Upper house parliament) has been dissolved and that the constitution has either been suspended or cancelled. The same reports indicate that the Muslim Brotherhood - as a group - has been dissolved and can no longer operate legally.

Human Rights Watch has announced that at least 91 cases of sexual violence occurred over the past four days in Tahrir Square, with several cases of rape being reported.

The Deputy Middle East Director of HRW stated, "The rampant sexual attacks during the Tahrir Square protests highlight the failure of the government and all political parties to face up to the violence that women in Egypt experience on a daily basis in public spaces."

According to HRW, there were five attacks on June 28th, 46 on June 30th, 17 on July 1st, and 23 on July 2nd.

The most common situations reported by women always started when a woman would suddenly be encircled by groups of young men and separated from her friends or family. In certain cases, women are dragged and taken to other areas where the sexual violence continues. In multiple cases, the attacks lasted close to an hour, leading to several hospitalizations.

HRW has also stated that women have reported being beaten with metal pipes, sticks, chairs and attacked with knives. HRW has condemned the "lack of interest by the government" and stated that such attacks are led by a culture of impunity.
