Ronster, why are you describing hispanics are rude. Are you aware that hispanics are American citizens, and that the issue at hand is not about them but rather people that are here illegally?

And ok. So in your opinion, exactly to what culture must we assimilate to? Because as you must well know, mexicans, african americans, and caucasians have very different customs.

    what?

The United States has a very unique culture, it is based on being proud to be an American, loving the country that we live in. We are a proud people, with rich traditions and pastimes. And we speak English, we fly the American flag, we do NOT put Mexican flags, Irish, or English flags in our cars. Respect our culture and you will be respected, I can care less what color someone is, but when I have to give up a sale or I cannot order a cheeseburger because of someone that has been in this country for ten years hasant bothered to learn MY language then I have a problem. Also, Hispanics are notourios for creating sub cultures in communitys, where if you are not hispanic you are not welcome. NOT WELCOME IN MY OWN COUNTRY?

So save your victim speech for someone else. I am tired of it, and will do every thing in my power to change it. And if that means kicking every ILLEGAL out of this country then I am all for that.

No amnesty, No SS benefits for illegals, NO GUEST WORKER PROGRAM, punish busniess that hire them. that simple.

Well ronster, just a little reminder. The views of the majority of the people here is not the views of this entire country. Although we are mostly on the same page when it comes to border security, mass deportations is what splits us up. You favor it, I disgust it.

Oh, do Americans really not celebrate their ancestry? Then can you explain what St. Patricks Day is all about?

Are you saying that all hispanics are American citizens? Or are you saying that among American citizens there are hispanics?

Approximately 80% of the ILLEGALS are mexican. The mexican government encourages their citizens to Illegaly sneak into the United States of America - using these poor suckers as a form of GDP while never improving the lives of the citizens. A disproportionate percentage of the incarcerated are hispanic. Groups such as LaRaza, Maldef, Mecha encourage mexicans to break the law by unlawfull entry into the USA. Americans are dealing with an educational system that is deteriorating, in part due to both ILLEGAL & legal hispanic children flooding our schools can't &/or won't learn English. We don't have a problem with, for example, "Press 2 for Italian." We have a problem with Spanish speakers who are not assimilating - language being the priority, in many facets of our lives.

Taking this into consideration, I'd venture a wild guess that ILLEGAL hispanics are the majority of the problem, mexicans taking the #1 slot.
    RONSTER is accurate, imho.

    Chicano,
I misunderstood nothing. Those people as you call them without associating yourself with them are braking our countrys laws. A law is a law no matter where in this world you go. There is no room for tolerance of their actions. They knew before they climbed, crawled or cut through our fences that there was a risk of being deported. So they hide like cowards and talk among themselves about how they will take back what is theirs. It is not theirs, it is ours bought and paid for. You can not sell a car to someone and come back and say it is yours and by only matter of numbers will you take it back. Wrong!
As far as your parents being legal (I hope) residents that is great they did it the right way. Maybe they can teach the others that are constantly flooding this country how to obtain and fill out the paper work. I also enjoy multi-cultural foods and listen to many different cultural music. I enjoy soccer and will enjoy watching Italy take the cup. But I'm sure people can tell you are hispanic without that knowledge and you should hold on to your language of heritage. But you, if you were born here you are American without the -.
To answer your last question: Yes, they should be charged with a felony and be deported. Mexico has a zero tolerance for illegals also. It is a felony punishable by prison and unlike the U.S. they won't deport you! As for fair oppurtunity, if you are already here illegally there is none. Your oppurtunity starts in your original homeland. File out the papers, file them and wait like everyone else has and is. That's the Law!!!!!!!!!!

What really angers me are the number of 25-40 year olds that I have come in contact with who are clueless or could care less about what is happening in our country. Many are so caught up with the lastest gadget or watching a non thought provoking TV program. They just have no idea what is going on around them. My husband asked a co-worker who is about 35 how he felt about the open border issue
I hear you bearpaw! You've got to remember however, the age group of say 35 or younger, by and large were the first kids to go all the way through a very PC public school system. That is also where we have been asleep at the wheel. Obviously not all in this age group but by and large if a person started public elementary school after 1970 or so. Patriotism was either not taught at all or deemphasized. In addition American heroes that we learned so much about have either been demonized or at the very least ignored. This is another trend we all need to be involved in and effect certain change. IMO

hey still speak ENGLISH, and its ONE day a year. If the Mexicans want a day fine. But for the rest of the year they have to speak english and assimalte to America's culture. Otherwise, stay in your country and fix it so that you can enjoy being a Mexican, Canadian or whatever you are IN YOUR COUNTRY.

You are such a hypocryte, what do you think would happen if I went to Mexico to live and I wanted the goverment to provide services in my language? And I wanted to create an American community in one of their cities? I would be deported faster than you can say Muchacha.

    Chicano,

The race debate is over in this country, it ended in the sixties. Mexico is a very racist nation they still exercise the caste system.

African insults by racist Mexican Government

    Offensive Memin Pinguin Stamp collection

A recent news story about African Mexicans has highlighted the racist attitudes the Mexican government still harbour towards African people.

A row between the Mexican and US government recently arose regarding the lack of economic prosperity of Mexican nationals in the US. The situation prompted President Vicente Fox to articulate his view that African people were an inferior group by declaring that Mexican migrants were doing jobs that ‘not even blacks’ would do.

His comment sparked outrage amongst African communities. Mexican hostility and disregard for African people was further intensified when Mexico decided to issue stamps featuring a 1950s cartoon figure called Memin Pinguin, a derogatory African caricature with stereotypically exaggerated physical features. Unsurprisingly, the issue of these stamps was avidly supported by the Mexican people as all 750,000 of the stamps issued sold out.

As with other south and central American countries, Mexico is reluctant to make reference to its African history and African population. Bobby Vaughn, an African-American anthropologist specialises in the Costa Chica, one of the two regions in Mexico with a high presence of African Mexicans. He states that the ‘Mexicans of African descent have no voice and the government makes no attempt to assess their needs, no effort to even count them.’

African Mexican history marginalised in schools

Colonial records are said to have shown that in the 16th and 17th centuries, around 200,000 enslaved Africans were imported into the Spanish colonial territory of New Spain, which included Mexico, Central America and the south west of region of North America, to work in the silver mines, on sugar plantations and cattle ranches. However, the African presence in Mexico dates back thousands of years to the Olmec or Xi people from Western Africa who spoke a variation of Manding and were accomplished sculptures, mathematicians and astronomers. They are also credited with introducing writing to this region of the Americas.

Unfortunately, the history of African people in Mexico has been consciously and systematically repressed. Following independence from the Spanish, there was a national drive to eliminate ethnic distinctions and construct a national identity based on the concept of mestizaje, which embraces the idea of the mixing of different racial groups. This policy is obviously to the detriment of the African population who make up a small percentage of the countries total populace and whose presence would be eradicated by systematic relations with other more prevalent ethnic groups.

African history in Mexican schools has been marginalised to the extent that even African Mexicans are unsure of, or misled about their heritage and the history of African Mexicans such as Gaspar Yanga, the leader of uprisings against enslavement.

However Eduardo Anorve, a member of a growing Pan African movement in Mexico wants the text books rewritten and the constitution reformed to recognise African Mexicans as a distinct ethnic group.

Maybe this part of your "Culture" you should leave behind. We are simply asking that when someone comes to the United States they assimilate to our culture and not expect us to bend to theirs. At no time in the history of this Nation have immigrants demanded such and it won't start now. What would the Mexican government do if 20 million Vietnamese were dropped in the middle of Mexico city and demanded that the Natives spoke their language and adapted to their culture. It wouldn't happen and you know it.

Ok, I have nothing against latinos in paticular. I happen to think that hispanic women are some of the prettiest in the world. I have hispanic friends that I would help if they needed it, and they would do the same for me. I do have a problem with illegals that feel we owe them something. I have a problem with hispanics that do not bother to learn my language even if they have been in MY country for years. I do have a problem with hispanics American or not that will not do busniess with anyone that does not speak spanish. I do have a problem with flying the Mexican flag in this country.

But I do not hate hispanics. Just becuase they are hispanic, I hate illegals becasue I fear they are ruining this country.
