Nevada: No Shirt, No Shoes, No MASK, No Service
No Shirt, No Shoes, No MASK, No Service
Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak issued an emergency directive Wednesday, making face masks mandatory in Nevada whenever someone is in a public space.
The mandate becomes effective at 11:59 p.m. Thursday, June 25. The governor announced the initiative during a Wednesday press conference from Carson City.
There are no civil or criminal penalties for people who do not wear masks in public, but businesses could face OSHA fines for not following the directive. There are exemptions for people with certain medical conditions, disabilities, and children between the ages of 2 and 9.

Here are the states that are requiring residents face masks for residents in public.
California
Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) issued a statewide order on June 18 that requires face coverings in public spaces.
“We’re seeing too many people with faces uncovered. Wearing a face covering is critical for keeping people safe and healthy, keeping businesses open and getting people back to work,” he tweeted June 19.
Connecticut
Gov. Ned Lamont (D) signed an executive order on April 17 that required face masks be worn in all public places. Children under the age of 2 are not required to wear a mask, nor are people who have a medical reason for not wearing one.
The requirement will remain in effect until it is terminated.
Delaware
Gov. John Carney (D) declared a state of emergency on April 25 and required face masks be worn in all public settings. Children under the age of 12 are not required to wear a mask and those under age 2 must not wear a mask due to suffocation risk.
The requirement remains in effect until further notice.
District of Columbia
Mayor Muriel Bowser (D) required face masks be worn in all public settings starting May 16. Children between the ages of 2 and 12 are advised but not required to wear a mask.
The order remains in effect until further notice.
Illinois
Gov. JB Pritzker (D) signed an executive order on April 30 that required face masks be worn when in a public setting or when maintaining social distancing isn't possible. Children under the age of 2 are exempt from the order.
The requirement remains in effect until further notice.
Maine
Gov. Janet Mills (D) signed an executive order on April 29 requiring everyone older than 2 to wear face masks in any public place and in large gatherings. The order took effect on May 1 and remains in effect until further notice.
Maryland
Gov. Larry Hogan (R) signed an executive order on April 15 that required that face masks be worn starting April 18. The order remains in effect until further notice.
Massachusetts
Gov. Charlie Baker (R) signed an order on May 1 that required that face coverings be worn in all public places where social distancing is not possible. The requirement went into effect May 6 and continues until further notice.
Michigan

Nevada
Gov. Steve Sisolak (D) issued a mandatory face mask policy for all residents June 24. It remains in effect until further notice.
"Today’s directive is our opportunity to limit our risk for exposure and infection, and to keep our businesses open and our economy moving," he said.
New Mexico
Residents are required to wear face masks in all public places. The order was put in place May 15 and remains in effect through June 30.
New York
On April 15, Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) announced that all residents are required to wear face masks in public settings when social distance is not possible. The order remains in effect until further notice.
North Carolina
Gov. Roy Cooper (D) announced June 24 that the state will remain in phase two for another three weeks and continue to mandate face masks in public. The requirement takes effect June 26 at 9 p.m. Exceptions are made for children under 11 years old, people with medical conditions precluding them from wearing masks and those exercising outside while practicing social distancing.
Pennsylvania
Gov. Tom Wolf (D) announced on April 18 that face masks would be mandatory in all public settings. The requirement remains in place until further notice.
Rhode Island
Gov. Gina Raimondo (D) issued an executive order that went into effect May 8 that required all residents over the age of two to wear face coverings in public places. The requirement remains in effect until July 4.
Washington
Officials announced on June 22 that face masks will be required starting June 26.
“As necessary economic activity increases and more people are out in their communities, it is imperative that we adopt further measures to protect all of us,” Gov. Jay Inslee (D) said. “Until a vaccine or cure is developed, this is going to be one of our best defenses."
