After the move of dressing up large cement blocks as presents in 2017 and again now, it comes as no surprised that some Christmas markets look like high security military bases.
But the country has become somewhat more creative in disguising its anti-terror measures.
In Ulm two tonne concrete birds are supposed to protect Christmas market visitors from terror attacks. One city officially commented that it was not about increasing security measures but about more “beautiful” security.

In Bautzen a similar approach with concrete Christmas trees was taken for safety purposes calling them a more “elegant” solution to concrete blocks.
The police in Dusseldorf are currently testing anti-terror standing tables. Their spokesperson called it a “creative” idea needing to be tested for its effectiveness.

Berlin de facto converted its Christmas market to a military base but then decided to decorate some of its new anti-terror barriers in more festive ways.

Germany’s increased anti-terror measures on Christmas markets show how mass Islamic migration threatens the country’s traditions. After the 2016 terror attack on Berlin’s Christmas market, by a Muslim terrorist there have been more incidents.
Recently a man with a hatchet shouted Allahu Akbar on a Christmas market and migrants fought with Germans on a Christmas market in Ludwigslust.
