A New Low in ‘Racism’ Accusations

Of course, it couldn’t happen to a nicer guy:

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid is facing accusations of racism and insensitivity for endorsing a white male U.S. representative to replace retiring Maryland Sen. Barbara Mikulski. Major Democratic donor Steve Phillips, the founder of progressive group PowerPAC+, slammed the Nevada Democrat’s speedy, public endorsement of Rep. Chris Van Hollen, who is white, to replace the 78-year-old Mikulski, who announced earlier this week that she is stepping down.

“For Harry Reid to come out and endorse Van Hollen is insulting period,” Phillips told Buzzfeed. “But to do it on the anniversary of the Selma 50th anniversary — to make an endorsement that would make the Senate less diverse — is outrageous and insulting.” Phillips, who is based in San Francisco and is black, was referencing the anniversary of three civil rights marches which began March 7, 1965, in Selma, Ala. A number of politicians are in Selma this weekend attending commemoration ceremonies.

Oh, please. At this point, the only thing that will satisfy the racial-grievance mongerers will be for every white person in America (still the vast majority of the population) to immediately self-abnegate, in expiation for real or (in most cases) imagined sins of their forbears. The only possible answer, instead of groveling, is: shut up.

Meanwhile, the racial nose-counting continues apace:

As Buzzfeed reminds, Democrats’ Senate caucus is even whiter than Republicans’. Both parties have one black senator — Democrats have New Jersey’s Cory Booker and Republicans have South Carolina’s Tim Scott — while the GOP has two Hispanic senators to the Democrats’ one, the embattled New Jersey Sen. Robert Menendez.

Memo to Buzzfeed: all three “Hispanic” senators are white Cubans, as opposed to black Cubans. There are such things, you know.

What a disgrace to the noble aims of the civil-rights movement being celebrated today.

The political question that makes a difference has nothing to do with race. The question always try to find an answer for is not what will this candidate do for me specifically, although I do consider myself secondary consideration. However, always the most important answer is what has this candidate done for or done to the nation, what does this one plan to do to or for the nation.

That said, it is unfortunate but true that both parties have been doing to the nation rather than for the nation, hence the question of party soon disqualifies most candidates because of the history of those who preceded them. So it goes, change is painful sometimes, and those tow parties cannot experience extreme pain that matches the pain they have caused!!

Yes, and politically incorrect tho it may be to point this out, in Mexico the upper class is sometimes referred to as "Blanco," because of their not intermarrying with indigenous people. I suspect that the same could be said of those Cubans.

BTW I think it's also safe to say that black Americans have natural allies in white Americans. We're both being undercut by illegals.
