mexico city's mayor-not out to legalize illegals in the U.S.

    http://www.citymayors.com/mayors/mexico_mayor.html

check out this link. It seems this guy has exposed some of mexico's biggest scumbags-some of which have been trying to campaign here in the U.S. in efforts to get the illegal mexicans here to vote for them. Obrador seems to be the most popular amongst the people of mexico who chose not to run away as well as those middle class who(unlike some of the mexican activist groups in the U.S.) choose to use debate instead of violence to question and/or protest their government. One good thing about him that opponents have tried using against him is that he is not a champion of "immigrants rights in the U.S."(what you and I know means illegal immigrants from mexico) He seems to be mainly a champion of the indigenous in Mexico who choose education instead of violence in their protests. He seems to care less about the remittances sent home to mexico from illegal aliens living in the U.S.. In fact he claims, many corrupt mexican politicians have used those funds to gamble in Las Vegas, which is why all of these remittances have done Mexico no good.

I dont know about you guys but it makes sense to me. Vicente Fox actually had this guy arrested because he continued construction on a road(which Fox ordered stopped) from an indigenous village to a hospital. I guess Fox sees that it is okay for americans to pay hospital bills for the poorest mexicans fleeing Mexico yet he would rather see the indigenous in his own country suffer and/or die rather than get proper healthcare. (That is, unless the indigenous are migrating to the U.S. for work, sending remittances back to Mexico, and allowing the government of mexico to take away their land and accepting the excuse that it is the fault of the nafta treaty-fault of the U.S.A.(failing to mention that Mexico signed it as well) Too bad, there is not more info like this available to us.

However, many South American born people like myself will tell you-"even if you showed the indigenous border crossers of mexico complete proof, they will still believe the Fox administration over you". I know many south american humanitarian volunteers from Peru, Chile, Uruguay, etc who have gone down to the border and tried explaining to these runaways how their government has screwed them...they merely turn around and accuse the volunteers of being white rich mexicans conspiring against them who have never been poor and are jealous because they are getting all the jobs". Keep in mind these are not mexican whites but humanitarian volunteers from all social classes, colors of south america(color and race are not an issue in those countries-unlike indigenous mexico, education is available and competition as well as political protest/questioning of government is a big thing not a feared thing or something looked down upon.

I notice the anchor babies here who are taught to hate american culture, people, history(continue to debate our history without any knowledge or facts-mainly those of mexico(keep in mind, almost every latin american nation knows that the southwest U.S. was not stolen from Mexico)think of education as nothing important at all. However, the south american kids are very competitive, political and don't use violence in debate. The only groups who get violent in Chile are the communists who like the pro-illegal savages in the U.S. end up starting the violence as well as name calling, and of course end up getting arrested.

Another reason why I as well as many people of south america, whether native indian/european descent hate being grouped with these people. We hate La Raza using the term latinos when their whole agenda is for mexican illegals only. More and more south americans whether waiting in line for legal entry as well as those who have swore off allegiance to their country of origin are getting more and more angry with these mexican activist groups. The problem is they are scared. Most of these people are educated and would not be a burden on the economy are seeing bush pushing his guest worker program mainly to cater to the illegals who don't want to better themselves, educate themselves, and embrace the american culture. Maybe this is why the bush administration is losing so much influence in that particular region.

Mayor Andres Manuel "AMLO" Lopez Obrador

The situation with the hospital that got Mayor Lopez Obrador arrested is a bit diffrent than what is described in your post.

The Hospital is the one most open to the poor but it is not actually located in an indigenous community. It had poor driveways and it was recognized that it could be better accessed if the driveways were changed. A local speculator bought a neccessary lot between the hospital and the highway and tried to soak the government. Lopez Obrador took the property without going to a court eminent domain. He then hired a campaign contributor to build the road. The new driveway was seen as being in the public interest.

When Mexican politicians break the law there they are usually permitted to avoid prosecution for the length of their term of office. AMLO was not given the same indulgence as both the PRI (most of Congress) and PAN (Fox) parties wanted to get him out of politics. Then Lopez Obrador's supporters had a huge campaign and the prosecution was lifted.

I am glad to hear of AMLO prioritizing on internal change.
I support enforcement and see its lack as bad for the 3rd World as well. Remittances are now mostly spent on consumption not production assets. Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
