Thread: Los Angeles Police Chief Wants Driver's Licenses for Illegal Immigrants

Los Angeles, Calif. – The Los Angeles policechief favors allowing undocumented immigrants to drive because, he says, itwill make the roads safer for everyone.
The chief, Charlie Beck, said he does notnecessarily support issuing them standard driver’s licenses, but perhaps aspecial document that would show their identity, and provide proof that theyhave the skills to drive legally in the state.
Beck, who expressed his views in an interviewWednesday with the Los Angeles Times, argued that the state has failed toreduce the number of undocumented immigrants driving without a license.
"The reality is that all the things thatwe've done — 'we' being the state of California — over the last 14, 16 yearshave not reduced the problem one iota, haven't reduced undocumented aliensdriving without licenses,” Beck said.
“So we have to look at what we're doing. Whensomething doesn't work over and over and over again, my view is that you shouldreexamine it to see if there is another way that makes more sense."
The chief concern is safety on the road byforcing all drivers to take the rigorous testing to get a license, and theability of police to identify the people they encounter, Beck said.
"Why wouldn't you want to put peoplethrough a rigorous testing process? Why wouldn't you want to better identifypeople who are going to be here?" Beck told the Times. "It doesn'tmake any sense to me. And we could increase safety on the roads. When you makethings illegal you cause a lot of other things by chain reaction."
One type of crime Beck believes woulddecrease is hit-and-run accidents, because undocumented immigrant driverswouldn't have to fear being caught without a license at the scene, he said.

Driver's licenses to illegal aliens, is another way to open more holes and opportunities for illegal aliens to find jobs as drivers. We are not foolish wake up Americans. This invaders want to have the same right of American we must close all doors and windows.
