Barack Obama is tougher on illegal immigration than Rick Perry!

Really!

The single most important thing we could do to end illegal immigration is to mandate the use of E-Verify to check that all workers in the US are legally authorized to work.

In September 2009, President Obama signed an executive order, directing all federal contractors to do just that. Instantly, almost 4 million workers were brought into the E-Verify process, thus establishing it as a robust verification mechanism that others – such as the states of Arizona, Alabama, South Carolina, etc. – could mandate for all employers in those states.

Rick Perry? He scoffs at E-Verify. In the 2010 gubernatorial race, Kay Bailey Hutchison promised to mandate E-Verify in Texas. But Perry shot down the idea, saying, “E-Verify would not make a hill of beans’ difference when it comes to what’s happening in America today. You secure the border first, then you can talk about how to identify individuals in an immigration situation.â€
