Obama's Immigration Agenda on White House Website (?)

Obama's Immigration Agenda on White House Website

    Univision.com, Posted: Jan 21, 2009

MIAMI — President Barack Obama's agenda regarding issues such as immigration was launched on the White House website this afternoon, reports Univision online.

It talks about a "commitment to promote a law that would legalize millions of undocumented immigrants," and "fix the broken immigration system" this year, the online statement says. Obama's immigration plan will include an improvement of border security systems, family reunification, punishment for unauthorized contract workers and a path to legalize undocumented immigrants with no criminal background.

According to data from the Census Bureau, there are an estimated 12 million undocumented immigrants living in the United States, many of them from Mexico and Latin America.

Note: At the time of this entry, the following was the entry on the White House website under "Immigration":

    "THE AGENDA • IMMIGRATION

"The time to fix our broken immigration system is now… We need stronger enforcement on the border and at the workplace… But for reform to work, we also must respond to what pulls people to America… Where we can reunite families, we should. Where we can bring in more foreign-born workers with the skills our economy needs, we should."
-- Barack Obama, Statement on U.S. Senate Floor
    May 23, 2007

For too long, politicians in Washington have exploited the immigration issue to divide the nation rather than find real solutions. Our broken immigration system can only be fixed by putting politics aside and offering a complete solution that secures our border, enforces our laws, and reaffirms our heritage as a nation of immigrants.

Create Secure Borders: Protect the integrity of our borders. Support additional personnel, infrastructure and technology on the border and at our ports of entry.

Improve Our Immigration System: Fix the dysfunctional immigration bureaucracy and increase the number of legal immigrants to keep families together and meet the demand for jobs that employers cannot fill.

Remove Incentives to Enter Illegally: Remove incentives to enter the country illegally by cracking down on employers who hire undocumented immigrants.

Bring People Out of the Shadows: Support a system that allows undocumented immigrants who are in good standing to pay a fine, learn English, and go to the back of the line for the opportunity to become citizens.

Work with Mexico: Promote economic development in Mexico to decrease illegal immigration."

There first tactic, as always, is to "crack down on the employers." So in one breath they are saying "We will help you stay here" and in the other "We will imprison those who hire you."

Go figure. This is just more reconquista, anti-Americanism at work.

Isn't this the definition of insanity? First they say they want to "Remove incentives to Enter Illegally", then next they give a giant incentive to enter illegally called amnesty!!! In fact they don't even call them illegal, they call them "undocumented immigrants"!!! Typical 1984 Newspeak from Big Brother.

What about the "incentive" to gain welfare benefits, Medicaid, free education and PRE_NATAL CARE FOR PREGNANT ILLEGAL ALIENS?????

Our welfare system is "broken" as badly as our immigration system - and WE DIDN'T BREAK IT!!!!

    Illegal aliens did!

    Obama's Immigration Agenda
by Rick Oltman on Thu Jan 22, 2009 3:31 pm

The Obama administration has posted its immigration agenda on the White House web page. There is no assurance that it will be adhered to, ignored or otherwise referred in the future, but let’s go through it now and analyze it.

    IMMIGRATION

"The time to fix our broken immigration system is now… We need stronger enforcement on the border and at the workplace… But for reform to work, we also must respond to what pulls people to America… Where we can reunite families, we should. Where we can bring in more foreign-born workers with the skills our economy needs, we should."

Comment: Political rhetoric. Could have been said by almost anyone in either the Democrat or Republican Party in the past 15 years.

For too long, politicians in Washington have exploited the immigration issue to divide the nation rather than find real solutions.

Comment: Don’t know which politicians Pres. Obama is referring to. The immigration issue has been used to unite ethnic minorities, illegal aliens and their supporting infrastructure. The immigration issue has also been discussed by pro-enforcement politicians who are calling for a return to the adherence of the rule of law. Can’t think of anyone using the immigration issue to "divide the nation..." More rhetoric.

Our broken immigration system can only be fixed by putting politics aside and offering a complete solution that secures our border, enforces our laws, and reaffirms our heritage as a nation of immigrants.
