Orlando Terrorist Omar Mateen was a licensed and armed security guard for a multinational security company that had the Department of Homeland Security contracts to transport illegal alien caught by US Border Patrol agents.

Mateen is still licensed as a weapons eligible security guard through the Jupiter, Fla headquartered US subsidiary of G4S plc, a multinational British corporation that is the largest security provider in the world, according to the Palm Beach Post.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives confirmed that Mateen legally purchased 2 firearms — a handgun and a long gun, “within the past few days.”

The Hill reported that Mateen became known to the FBI in 2013 after he made “inflammatory comments to coworkers alleging possible terrorist ties” to other workers at G4S plc, where he was employed since 2007.

Mateen’s first Facebook entry is a December 2011 post by Moner Abu-Salha of a video of Imam calling for death of homosexuals, according to the Palm Beach Post blog.

The FBI investigated Mateen after Abu-Salha in 2015 became the first American suicide bomber in Syria. Omar Mateen lived only 30 minutes south of Abu-Salha’s home in Vero Beach, Fla.

Abu-Salha is known to have traveled to the Middle East, trained, and returned to the Vero Beach and Fort Pierce areas to supposedly recruit Jihadist followers. The FBI has previously said that Abu-Salha did not recruit anyone, but Mateen has an apartment in Fort Piece.
Although Mateen was interviewed by the FBI at least 3 times and was for some period of time on the terrorist watch list, it appears that his security clearances and weapons permits were never suspended.

Breitbart News reported last month that Brandon Judd, President of the National Border Patrol Council, told the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration and the National Interest that, “We’re releasing basically everybody as long as you’re not from the country of Mexico.

Border patrol sources told Judicial Watch investigators that the Department of Homeland Security had contracted with G4S to move illegal aliens apprehended at the border inland by vans.

According to Judicial Watch, the “detainees,” were then released them into the United States without proper processing or issuing court appearance documents.

G4Sissued a statement, “We are shocked and saddened by the tragic event that occurred at the Orlando nightclub. We can confirm that Omar Mateen had been employed with G4S since September 10, 2007. We are cooperating fully with all law enforcement authorities, including the FBI, as they conduct their investigation. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the friends, families and people affected by this unspeakable tragedy.”

The firm’s website states that the company is the largest security company in the United States and the world. They have operations in more than 100 countries with 610,000 employees. In the US, G4S has more than 50,000 employees.

Oh surer, I knew sooner or later we would have one that is actually employed directly or through a contractor by the US government. Well, here we are. Our national security being secured by terrorists.

Can there be any greater insanity than this? And even when they're reported, twice, to the FBI, they keep their jobs.

U.S. intelligence experts are well aware of the problems of mounting a 24/7 round-the-clock surveillance on suspects.

“It’s a manpower eater,” said Phillip A. Parker, a veteran former FBI counterintelligence agent, “and it takes away from other cases.”

To keep a target under continuous surveillance, according to one experienced FBI source who asked to remain anonymous, could require three eight-hour shifts or perhaps two 12-hour shifts, with four special agents each shift. Several cars would be needed, sometimes even airplanes. If only one car was used, the person might quickly realize he was being followed.

“If you are just sitting around in the street, somebody’s going to notice you,” Parker explained. “If it’s a real sensitive case, you just cannot be made. You would run five or six cars, maybe seven or eight. If you don’t want any chance of the target making you, the average is three shifts, four guys to a shift, two cars — that’s a minimum. Three shifts, so 12 agents. If it’s a really important case, you could easily double that.” That minimum translates into 24 agents in three shifts of eight agents to keep watch on a single target.

Parker, who spent much of his career tracking Soviet and Russian spies, noted, “Most surveillance subjects are not moving more than a few hours a day. So you may also have to set up an OP [observation post],” often a house or apartment overlooking the target.

Just as the French services wiretapped the cellphones of the Paris terrorists, the FBI does not limit itself to physical surveillance of a subject. “You would also have technical means,” one surveillance specialist, who asked to remain anonymous, said. “If you run 24-hour surveillance, you have telephones, both cell and land lines, MISUR [microphone surveillance] and stationery lookouts.”

Agents might also lock onto the GPS of the suspect’s car, to see where he or she is going. In one high-profile espionage case, the FBI placed radio receivers at fixed points around the Washington area and was also able to plant an electronic device in the suspect’s car. When the target car passed by one of the receivers, the time and location were recorded. This setup was similar to the E-ZPass system, which is used by commuters to breeze through toll plazas without stopping.

With so much manpower required to monitor just one suspect, FBI supervisors often resist mounting a 24/7 surveillance. It takes away agents who might be working other cases. A smaller field office might not have enough agents.

Typical government excuses. Did they notify St. Lucie Police where the man lived? They could have tailed, trackedand kept up with him. Gee, they could have contracted with the security company he worked for and they could have tracked him. His co-workers could have tracked him. It's time to stop with the excuses. If you put someone on a terror watch list, it means you watch them and that means you track them. You don't sit around whining about shifts and cars, you do your job. You let these people into the country, you made their offspring citizens, and even with 2 reports by co-workers, you did nothing.

This is unacceptable.

Nightclub gunman worked for security firm with nuclear contracts

WASHINGTON (Sinclair Broadcast Group) — Omar Sidiq Mateen, the terrorist shooter who killed 50 at an Orlando nightclub, continued working as a guard for a security firm with extensive federal contracts protecting sensitive nuclear sites and deporting illegal aliens even after the FBI twice investigated him for possible terror ties.

Congressional investigators are likely to raise questions this week about what if anything the FBI did to alert the federal contractor, G4S Secure Solutions, the U.S. Energy Department or the Homeland Security Department about their counter-terrorism probes into Mateen in 2013 and 2015, sources told Circa News.
G4S acknowledged Sunday evening that Mateen worked for the firm as a guard since 2007. Law enforcement sources said Mateen was not working on the federal contracts but rather served as a security guard at a Florida courthouse.

"We are cooperating fully with all law enforcement authorities, including the FBI, as they conduct their investigation," G4S Secure Solutions said in a statement to media. "Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the friends, families and people affected by this unspeakable tragedy."

G4S is a respected government contract and holds extremely sensitive federal contracts worth tens of millions of dollars, including helping the Homeland Security Department, the Customs and Border Protection and the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to transport illegal immigrants in selected urban areas. The company says in a marketing document that its "fortified buses log millions of miles and transport hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants, while freeing up front line CPB and ICE personnel for other essential services."

G4S subsidiaries also provide security at some of the Energy Department's most sensitive nuclear research and storage facilities, such as the 310 square mile Savannah River Site in South Carolina, according to federal records.

Sources told Circa that Mateen, the son of Afghan immigrants who was born in New York but worked in Florida, called 911 shortly before he began his attack at the gay nightclub called Pulse Orlando to pledge allegiance to ISIS.

His apparent allegiance to extremist Islamist ideology shook nerves in several federal quarters because he was tied to the security firm and twice had been probed by the FBI for terror ties. And he was licensed in Florida to carry firearms as a security contractor.

This episode is likely to raise a debate about "having a better way to alert federal agencies and contractors about someone who we suspect has terrorist sympathies and yet has sensitive job access and a license to carry," a senior congressional investigator told Circa, speaking only on condition of anonymity.

The investigator said multiple committees on Capitol Hill are likely to review the apparent lack of communication.

FBI officials acknowledge they twice extensively investigated Mateen for possible terror ties but ultimately closed those investigations.

FBI agent Ron Hopper said Mateen was first investigated for terrorist sympathies in 2013 when colleagues at his security firm raised concerns about comments he made suggesting he supported jihad.

"He made inflammatory comments to coworkers alleging possible terrorist ties," Hopper said.

Mateen and other witnesses were interviewed and agents reviewed his communications and conducted physical surveillance but could not find evidence he was acting on behalf of a terror organization or planning an attack.

Ast year, the FBI again probe Mateen because he had some contact with Moner Mohammad Abusalha, an American who carried out a suicide bombing in 2015 in Syria. Both men hailed from Florida and attended the same mosque.

FBI agents again interviewed Mateen but concluded his contact with the suicide bomber was minimal and did not constitute a threat, officials said.
