VIDEO: White House Press Conference with Stephen Miller on Immigration

The White House Press Conference featured policy advisor to President Trump, Stephen Miller. He outlined the proposed immigration changes, the biggest in fifty years. Merit based, English is priority, ability to support oneself, end to chain migration, reduction in numbers.

Stephen Miller took questions and it became lively when CNN's liberal reporter, Jim Acosta, took swipes at the clarifications and changes being sought for green card immigration and the reduction in numbers. He, like so many others, falsely made a connection between the Statue of Liberty and the poem later written and attached to it. It was great to hear someone make the distinction as Stephen did today. The Statue was a gift celebrating liberty not unfettered immigration.

Stephen Miller also asked, "Do you at CNN really not know the difference between green card policy and illegal immigration?" He also cited a "cosmopolitan bias" with Jim Acosta.

President Trump carries through with America First immigration policy.

See Trump Backs Slashing Legal Immigration With ‘Merit-Based’ System

”The RAISE Act, which Cotton and Perdue introduced in February, would scrap the current lottery system to get into the U.S. and instead institute a points-based system for earning a green card. Factors that would be taken into account include English language skills, education, high-paying job offers and age.”

It is encouraging that President Trump has started the needed conversation concerning immigration reform that puts the interests of American Citizens above the interests of our Washington Swamp Creatures ___ some of whom have sold their soul to unpatriotic domestic corporations which demand cheap illegal entrant labor to increase their profits, while other Washington Swamp Creatures have a desire to increase the democrat voting block by importing the poverty stricken populations of other countries into America who will immediately be dependent upon government cheese and thus, can be expected to sell their vote to receive it.

    JWK

American citizens are sick and tired of being made into tax-slaves to finance a maternity ward for the poverty stricken populations of other countries who invade America’s borders to give birth.

CNN's Acosta non-ironically cites Emma Lazarus as a critique of the Cotton-Perdue bill. Miller smacks him down.

Who wrote the poem on the Statue of Liberty?

    .

Just for the record and in case you didn’t know it, Emma Lazarus, who wrote those words was a well-known socialist and the “poem” was suggested to be used to raise funds to build the pedestal for the Statue of Liberty. Additionally, immigrants coming to America and passed the statute on their way to Elis Island were not granted entry into the United States for a number of reasons. Being an obvious public burden was one reason to be refused entry! In this respect President Trump is spot on with having a merit based immigration policy which takes into account the best interests of America's taxpaying citizens!

There was a time not too long ago in New York when the able-bodied were ashamed to accept home relief, a program created by Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1931 when he was Governor. Now, New York City and many other major cities are infested with countless government cheese factions, many of whom are illegal entrants, who not only demand welfare, but use it to buy beer, wine, drugs, sex, and Lotto tickets.

Move Over Trump, Miller Takes Out ‘Fake News’ New York Times And CNN

    August 2nd, 2017
    Stephen Miller (Reuters Pictures)

WASHINGTON — White House senior adviser Stephen Miller battled reporters from The New York Times and CNN during Wednesday’s press briefing taking the reins from President Trump on the war on “fake news.”

Miller was at the briefing in support of the Raise Act, a Senate bill that would cut immigration by half over ten years and represent the most significant immigration reform in over half a century. The bill, which is sponsored by Republican senators Tom Cotton and David Perdue, would accomplish this by implementing a merit-based immigration system and largely ending the current practice of immigrants bringing over large amounts of family members.

New York Times reporter Glenn Thrush and CNN reporter Jim Acosta both were skeptical about the bill at the White House press briefing. Miller’s exchange with Acosta was the most fiery, with the White House adviser telling Acosta that his “cosmopolitan bias” is being exposed to a “shocking degree.”

Acosta had asked whether the legislation is in accord with the 1883 poem on the Statue of Liberty that states, “give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses.”

“It doesn’t say anything about speaking English or being able to be a computer programmer,” Acosta said. “Aren’t you trying to change what it means to be an immigrant coming into this country if you’re telling them, you have to speak English when they get here?”

Miller pointed out that American citizens need to be able to speak English and added, “so the notion that speaking English wouldn’t be a part of immigration systems would be very ahistorical.” (OPINION: The Statue Of Liberty Poem Is Now A Weapon In America’s Culture War)

Acosta later interrupted Miller and asked, “are we just going to bring in people from Great Britain and Australia?”

“I have to say, I am shocked at your statement that you think that only people from Great Britain and Australia would know English. It’s all — it reveals your cosmopolitan bias to a shocking degree that in your mind — no, this is an amazing moment,” Miller shot back. The immigration hawk and former Jeff Sessions staffer continued, “Jim, have you honestly never met an immigrant from another country who speaks English outside of Great Britain and Australia?”

The mood in the briefing room was more tense than usual with a mix of laughter and angry muttering. This exchange came shortly after Miller was questioned by Thrush whether he has statistics to back up his claim that low-skill immigrants hurt American workers. Miller cited studies, yet this wasn’t enough to please Thrush, and Miller later asked, “Maybe we’ll make a carve-out in the bill that says The New York Times can hire all the less skilled, low paid workers from other countries and see how you feel about low wage substitution.”When White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders took the podium, she remarked, “That was exciting.”

Ann Coulter: ‘We need to clone Stephen Miller and appoint him to every cabinet position’

BY JACQUELINE THOMSEN - 08/02/17 04:54 PM EDT

Conservative commentator Ann Coulter on Wednesday lavished praise on White House adviser Stephen Miller during his appearance at the White House press briefing, calling it "the best moment of the Trump presidency since the inauguration."

Coulter, a longtime fan of Miller, said that “we need to clone Stephen Miller and appoint him to every cabinet position” in a string of tweets.

“The great Stephen Miller speaking at White House press conference right now. MUST SEE!!!!!!” Coulter first tweeted, going on to say that Miller was “eating press’s lunch” and “Experts say many people voted for Trump because they want Stephen Miller running the country.”

“I wonder if it would help if all Trump spokesmen were as smart as Stephen Miller,” she wrote.

Miller’s rare appearance at the podium was filled with heated exchanges with reporters about President Trump’s proposas to reduce the level of legal immigration. Miller told The New York Times’ Glenn Thrush that his newspaper should hire low-skilled immigrants and accused CNN’s Jim Acosta of a "cosmopolitan bias."

Miller also minimized the importance of the poem inscribed on the base of the Statue of Liberty welcoming immigrants, which he said was added after the statue was installed.

“Idiot reporter cites poem later added to Statue of Liberty as of [sic] it's a founding document, binding US government officials,” Coulter tweeted about the exchange between Miller and Acosta.

Stephen Miller predicts 'unstoppable' momentum for Trump's immigration plan

by Anna Giaritelli, August 2, 2017

White House senior policy adviser Stephen Miller predicted Wednesday that the more the public gets to discuss President Trump's endorsement of a skills-based immigration system, the more easily it will pass in Congress.

"The more that we, as a country, have a national conversation about what kind of immigration system we want and to whom we want to give green cards to, the more unstoppable the momentum for something like this becomes," Miller told reporters at the White House Wednesday. "Public support is so immense on this."

Miller, who previously worked for Attorney General Jeff Sessions in the Senate, said he expects polling numbers in battleground states to increasingly show support for the bill as the public becomes aware of this new proposal. Democrats and some Republicans indicated opposition to the bill on Wednesday, but he said the U.S. public is demanding these sorts of answers.

"You're going to see [a] massive public push for this kind of legislation because immigration affects every aspect of our lives, affects our schools, our hospitals, our working conditions, our labor market," Miller said.

President Trump announced Wednesday he will support a revised Senate bill that would implement a merit-based point system for foreigners who apply for legal permanent status, or green cards, through their employer.

Republican Sens. David Perdue of Georgia and Tom Cotton of Arkansas unveiled the green card reforms in the Reforming American Immigration for a Strong Economy Act, or the RAISE Act, on Wednesday.

During his first address to a joint session of Congress on Feb. 28, Trump decried the "current, outdated system" that awards visas based on economic or humanitarian needs, as well as family connections.

The bill proposes eliminating "so-called chain migration," as Miller described it.

"The individuals right now who are receiving green cards, they can bring in, say, an elderly relative who could immediately go on to public assistance if they become unable to support themselves financially, and then that person can bring in a relative who can bring in a relative who can bring in a relative, and that's why they call it chain migration," Miller said.

The current immigration system often benefits family members of current U.S. residents, but Perdue and Cotton are pushing for a change that would force the U.S. to weigh the skill sets of potential candidates and favor those with more skills. The new version outlines how the specific demands of the U.S. workforce would determine which immigrants are needed, and thus, granted visas.

The diversity visa lottery would be eliminated while the number of green cards or documents for permanent residents would increase.

‘Cosmopolitan Bias’: Stephen Miller Demolishes CNN’s Jim Acosta with Immigration Facts

    AP Photo/Susan Walsh

    by Ben Kew

    August 2, 2017

President Donald Trump’s senior advisor Stephen Miller ripped into CNN’s Jim Acosta on Wednesday during a White House press briefing, accusing him of having a “cosmopolitan bias” over his attitude to immigration.

Acosta claimed that the plan was not in keeping with the values of the Statue of Liberty, referencing a poem attributed to the statue after its construction.

“The Statue of Liberty has always been a beacon of hope to the world for people to send their people to this country, and they’re not always going to speak English Stephen, they’re not always going to be highly skilled,” Acosta said.

    Miller responded accordingly:

I appreciate your speech, so let’s talk about this. In 1970, when we let in 300,000 people a year, was that violating or not violating the state of liberty law of the land?

In 1990s, when we let in half a million people a year, was that violating or not violating the law of the land? Tell me what years meet Jim Acosta’s definition of the Statue of Liberty per law of the land. You’re saying a million a year is the Statue of Liberty number — 900,000 violates, 800,000 violates it.

He went on to point out the historical inaccuracy of Acosta’s claims:

Your statements are also shockingly ahistorical in another respect too, which is, if you look at the history of immigration, it has actually ebbed and flowed, we’ve had very large waves, periods of less immigration and more immigration.

Acosta went on to challenge Miller, arguing that Trump wants to bring a “sweeping change to the immigration system” by building a wall, and falsely claiming that immigration is now at a “historic low.”

    Miller responded:

You don’t actually think the wall affects green card policy? You couldn’t possibly believe that could you? Actually, the notion that you actually think immigration is at a historic low. Do you at CNN really not know the difference between green card policy and illegal immigration?

Acosta claimed that, as the son of a Cuban immigrant, he fully understands green card policy and suggested that if the administration seeks to prioritize English speakers, that policy would mean “only bringing in people from Britain and Australia.”

    Miller hit back:

Jim, I just got to say, I am shocked by your statement, that you think that only people from Great Britain and Australia would know English. It reveals your cosmpolitan bias to a shocking degree that in your mind … this is an amazing moment … that you think that only people from Great Britain and Australia would speak English is so insulting to millions of hard-working immigrants that do speak English from all over the world.

The exchange follows an announcement from President Donald Trump on Wednesday of plans to introduce a merit-based immigration reform, designed to help millions of Americans hurt by the nation’s current cheap-labor immigration policies.

The legislation, introduced by Sen. David Perdue (R-GA) and Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AK) is formally titled the “Reforming American Immigration for a Strong Economy Act” (RAISE), which will radically cut legal migration and prioritize immigrants who are best positioned to succeed in the United States and improve the economy.
