    Can Newt Gingrich Win Iowa?

    Can Newt Gingrich Win Iowa?
Published November 14, 2011 Sean Hannity

SEAN HANNITY, HOST: It was only a few short months ago when rumors were running rampant that New Gingrich would soon be forced to end his run for the White House. But reports of his campaign's early demise were grossly exaggerated because now the resurgent former speaker of the House find himself at the very top of the Republican field.

Now, according to go a CNN poll released today, Gingrich is in a virtual tie with frontrunner Mitt Romney. And in less than one month, his numbers have skyrocketed by a staggering 14 points.

Now, without question, the speaker's comeback can at least be partially attributed to his outstanding performance in the debates. Now, this weekend he went head-to-head with a CBS News moderator over whether or not a president should have the authority to target an American-born terrorist. Take a look.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP) The end of the 2nd clip Gingrich says why he supports the "Dream Act"

Scrutiny of Hill record rises with ascent in polls

On issues such as Social Security, taxes and environmental regulation, the Newt Gingrich of the 1980s and 1990s is proving to be a problem for the 2012 presidential hopeful, who promises to fundamentally transform Washington.

From appearing in a television ad advocating global-warming awareness with then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to backing the 1986 amnesty for illegal immigrants to his early support for an individual mandate requiring Americans to purchase health insurance, Mr. Gingrich’s past is sprinkled with positions that cause some conservatives heartburn.

Mr. Gingrich earlier this year waved off the Pelosi ad as “probably the single dumbest thing I’ve done in years.â€

I hope not. He was hated so much when he left office, paid 300,000. in ethics fines, divorced his wife while she was dying to marry some tart, received $1.6 million from Freddie Mac to lobby the Congress on their behalf; although he lied about that in the past debate. Those are just a portion of his baggage. I wouldn't trust that man as far as I could throw him.

    Why Newt Gingrich won’t last

By Dana Milbank, Published: November 15

I’m afraid I can’t get too excited about the Newt Gingrich boomlet.

The field general of the Revolution of 1994 is suddenly out in front of the Republican presidential primary polls, but I can’t help thinking that he will soon go the way of Rick Perry and Herman Cain.

    It’s not Gingrich’s disparaging of President Obama’s “Kenyan, neo-colonialâ€

Newt Gingrich Faces Questions About His Past (The Note)

By MICHAEL FALCONE (@michaelpfalcone) and AMY WALTER (@amyewalter)

    Well, that was fast.

Newt Gingrich spent much of Monday and Tuesday touting his surge in the Republican presidential primary race, but thanks to a Bloomberg News report that broke overnight, he’s going to spend much of today trying to explain his prior work with the mortgage company Freddie Mac.

Bloomberg’s Clea Benson and Dawn Kopecki noted last night that the former House Speaker “made between $1.6 million and $1.8 million in consulting fees from two contracts withâ€

    What About Newt?

Posted by Ben Shapiro Bio ↓ on Nov 16th, 2011

With all the chaos surrounding the Republican nomination race, one thing is very clear: somewhere along the way, Mitt Romney made a Damn Yankees-like pact with Satan to score this group of individuals to run against. It is certain that a vast majority of Republican primary voters do not like Mitt Romney. In fact, we can go further – they can’t stand him. That’s why he’s never broken 30 percent in any national poll of Republican primary voters. That’s why Tea Party support has shuffled from Michele Bachmann to Rick Perry to Herman Cain.

Sadly, though, none of those candidates have been a vessel expansive enough to contain the unbridled enthusiasm of the Tea Party movement. Bachmann’s support fell apart when she began committing boneheaded linguistic gaffes – and more so when Rick Perry jumped into the race. Perry’s campaign fell apart when he suggested that anyone who did not agree with the Texas DREAM Act was heartless – and more so when he disintegrated in the debates. Cain’s campaign fell apart when it became clear he was an amateur – although it took the capper of the sexual harassment charges to do serious damage.

With the descent of Cain, the Republican base is still searching the wilderness for someone to carry its standard. There are only a few folks they haven’t tried. One is Jon Huntsman. The former Utah governor will never get their respect or love because of his association with President Obama. Another is luckless Rick Santorum, the former senator from Pennsylvania who stands for all the right things in all the wrong ways. His acidic manner – he constantly looks like he’s just sucked a lemon – has sunk an otherwise appealing platform.

    Who is left? Newt Gingrich.

It is clear that Gingrich is the smartest man on the stage in the Republican debates. Virtually everyone has acknowledged it over and over again. He is dazzlingly articulate. He knows the issues inside and out. Is there any other candidate on that stage that Republicans would trust with Obama? Gingrich would undoubtedly turn the bloviating incumbent inside out. As Dorothy Rabinowitz of the Wall Street Journal rightly wrote this week, “The former speaker has stood out at these forums, the debater whose audiences seem to hang on his words and on a flow of thought rich in substance, a world apart from the usual that the political season brings.â€

If Newt gets the Republican nomination he won't win. He's not really that smart. If he was he'd know that supporting amnesty will cause him to lose for certain. So why does he keep advocating amnesty? Wouldn't you think that a smart politician would come out against it even though he supports it? But not Newt. It's because he's being manuvered into losing just like the superclown John McCain. Except that Newt thinks he can still win for some reason known only to himself. But he's just fooling himself. He might get some hispanic votes but lose most of the conservative vote. That makes no snese. He should know that. But he acts like he doesn't. How smart is that?
