A PAUL NEHLEN WIN COULD CHANGE EVERYTHING

Mark Anthony Hammond August 8, 2016

Today a businessman and true populist conservative republican, Paul Nehlen, makes his final push to unseat House Speaker Paul Ryan and the stakes couldn’t be higher.

A Ryan victory would be viewed in some circles as win for the establishment base but a loss would prove the tides have drastically shifted. Donald Trump has already covered himself by offering a passive 11th hour blessing to Ryan but what would a Paul Nehlen win mean for the new Republican Party?

Of course after a Nehlen victory all eyes would switch to Arizona where state senator Kelli Ward is looking to unseat longtime Republican stalwart John McCain on August 30th in the Arizona Republican primary. Ward has run an insurgency campaign fueled by populist ideals and anti-establishment rhetoric.

Nehlen and Ward victories are clearly a harbinger of things to come in the 18′ midterms but they might also put the current Republican establishment on notice for their lukewarm support of Trump and Trump policies.

It’s obvious to any casual observer that Donald Trump has tapped into populist ideals that resonate across the Republican base and with independent voters. With a Nehlen victory followed closely by a Ward victory the new Republican party could arrive a lot sooner than later.

I believe this new Republican Party would be built around the core of Trump’s conservative ideals: immigration, trade, and national security.

The new Republicans strongly support an overhaul of the current immigration system and oppose any sort of open borders policy, equating a path to citizenship to amnesty. This new contingent not only wants to build a physical wall but have a reorganization of policy in order to protect American citizens from radical Islam and enforce the current laws on the books.

Another issue the new Republicans are strongly focused on is fair trade. Donald Trump has taken the lead on this topic with his outspoken opposition to the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) and has openly criticized the existing North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), calling it a “disaster” and saying America needs “fair trade,” not “free trade.”

The final value that new Republicans will take into the House and Senate with insurgent victories would be a true respect for national security. Nehlen, Ward, and Trump have all called for a revamping of the current United State military, increase in funding and efforts made across the board to increase military readiness for the battlefields of the 21st century.

With the conservative movement in a state of transformation, a victory for Nehlen today could mean huge changes tomorrow and thereafter for the new Republican party.
