Paul Ryan Meets With Top Mexico Diplomat After Slamming Trump

    Tuesday, June 7, 2016 08:21 PM
    By: Todd Beamon

House Speaker Paul Ryan met with Mexico's top diplomat on Tuesday after he denounced Donald Trump's comments about a Hispanic judge as the "textbook definition of racist comments."

The session with Mexican Secretary of Foreign Relations Claudia Ruiz Massieu came during a closed meeting with the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, The Hill reports.

She said that the broader relations between the nations were more critical than what is currently going on politically.

"The relationship between Mexico and the United States is stronger, bigger, more important than a specific moment," Massieu told the Hill.

The secretary's office posted pictures of the meeting on Twitter:

Earlier Tuesday, Ryan also told reporters that Trump's comments on U.S. District Court Judge Gonzalo Curiel should be "absolutely disavowed."

Trump later said in a statement that his comments had been "misconstrued."

"I am friends with and employ thousands of people of Mexican and Hispanic descent,"Trump said. But based on the rulings that I have received in the Trump University civil case, I feel justified in questioning whether I am receiving a fair trial."

Can you think of any reason at all for a "closed door meeting" between the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and the Secretary of Foreign Relations for Mexico?

I think we should close our borders and open up Senate Foreign Relations Committee meetings. This open borders closed door committee meetings is the complete opposite of what our country needs.

Or so it seems to me.

Wow, didn't take long for Ryan to take advantage of a Trump misstep. The man pounced like a hungry wolf on a rabbit! Ryan is part of the problem, not the solution. Hopefully his constituents are taking notes and will send him packing at the first opportunity!

This just goes to show why it is important for Trump to keep to the business at hand (running for President) and avoid taking his personal business problems public.
