Paul Ryan primary opponent faces nomination paper challenge

MADISON, Wis. -House Speaker Paul Ryan's Republican primary opponent faces a challenge of his nomination papers.
Paul Nehlen is among 11 candidates in the Aug. 9 primary who face ballot access challenges. The Government Accountability Board was scheduled to consider the cases on Friday.
Nehlen's nomination papers were challenged by conservative activist Orville Seymer. He alleges that Nehlen should be disqualified for listing that he lives in the city of Delavan instead of the town of Delavan, among other things.
Others being challenged include 7th Congressional District Republican candidate Donald Raihala, Democratic state Reps. Christine Sinicki and Leon Young and Republican state Rep. Mary Czaja.
Issues raised in challenges largely focus on failure to gather enough signatures to get on the ballot, or submitting allegedly invalid signatures.

Paul Ryan challenger Nehlen allowed on ballot
By SCOTT BAUER Updated 23 min ago 0
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Wisconsin elections board has voted to allow House Speaker Paul Ryan's Republican challenger to be on the ballot.
Paul Nehlen's nomination papers had been challenged by a conservative activist. The state Government Accountability Board on Friday voted unanimously to reject the challenge to Nehlen's filing.
Orville Seymer argued that Nehlen should not be allowed on the ballot in the 1st Congressional District race against Ryan because he had an incorrect home address and address for voting on his nomination papers. But the elections board staff says his paperwork "substantially complies" with the requirements.
The board did vote to disallow Libertarian candidate Robert Burke from being on the ballot in the 7th Congressional District against Republican Rep. Sean Duffy. The board determined Burke did not have enough signatures.
