Paul Ryan says he'll vote for Donald Trump in November.
“I'll be voting for @realDonaldTrump this fall. I'm confident he will help turn the House GOP's agenda into laws,” Ryan tweeted on Thursday with a link to a story in his hometown newspaper, The Janesville Gazette.
The column he submitted to the Gazette detailed why he would vote for Trump.
“Donald Trump and I have talked at great length about things such as the proper role of the executive and fundamental principles such as the protection of life. The list of potential Supreme Court nominees he released after our first meeting was very encouraging.
But the House policy agenda has been the main focus of our dialogue. We’ve talked about the common ground this agenda can represent. We’ve discussed how the House can be a driver of policy ideas. We’ve talked about how important these reforms are to saving our country. And we’ve talked about how, by focusing on issues that unite Republicans, we can work together to heal the fissures developed through the primary.
Through these conversations, I feel confident he would help us turn the ideas in this agenda into laws to help improve people’s lives. That’s why I’ll be voting for him this fall.”
Ryan had previously said he wasn't yet ready to back Trump after the billionaire was designated the presumptive Republican nominee.

Washington, DC
Presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump responded on Twitter to Speaker of the House Paul Ryan’s endorsement, which Ryan announced in an op-ed in his hometown newspaper, published on Thursday.
“So great to have the endorsement and support of Paul Ryan. We will both be working very hard to Make America Great Again!” Trump posted on Twitter Thursday afternoon.
“I feel confident he would help us turn the ideas in this agenda into laws to help improve people’s lives,” Ryan wrote in the op-ed. “That’s why I’ll be voting for him this fall.”
The endorsement comes after Ryan said he wasn’t ready to support Trump earlier in May once both Ohio Gov. John Kasich and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) dropped out of the race and Trump was declared the presumptive Republican nominee.
Trump now has the support from the two top leading Republicans in Congress, Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.
