In 1957, Egyptian president Gamal Abdel Nasser wrote: "The genius of you Americans is that you never make clear-cut stupid mistakes, only complicated stupid ones, which makes us wonder at the possibility that there may be something we are missing." What Nasser was close to asking was whether Americans (acting for the Power Elite, PE) were operating with "planned incompetence," or PI. "Planned incompetence" is when a nation or individual seems to act in a mistaken way that indicates it doesn't know what it is doing, but it really does!
For example, Nasser came to power in 1952 as the U.S. was engaged in the no-win Korean War. You might ask why any nation would become involved in a war it didn't want to win. Although Gen. Douglas MacArthur was confident that we could win that war, he was blockled by President Harry Truman, who was a puppet of the PE, as are most world leaders The PE's goal is a world government, and on June 28, 1945, Pres. Truman had said: "It will be just as easy for nations to get along in a republic of the world as it is for us to get along in the republic of the United States."
And as Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) member Lincoln Bloomfield would later write, a "world government" would come about "through the establishment of supranational institutions, characterized by mandatory universal membership and some ability to employ physical force....(But) if the communist dynamic were greatly abated, the West would lose whatever incentive it has for world government." Therefore, since Pres. Truman had helped bring the communists to power in China in 1949 (through Gen. George Marshall's denial of working weapons to the Nationalist Chinese), he disallowed Gen. MacArthur's military action against the Chinese Communists as the main supporters of communist North Korea.
In the same year (1952) that Nasser became head of Egypt, Herman Dinsmore became foreign editor of THE NEW YORK TIMES until 1960, and wrote in ALL THE NEWS THAT FITS (1969) that "the weight of THE NEW YORK TIMES has generally fallen on the communists since the end of World War II." This is perhaps one reason THE NEW YORK TIMES didn't expose the fact that Cuba's Fidel Castro was really a communist.. When Castro came to power in 1959, he was presented as only a freedom fighter. Several years later when he announced that he was a communist, it looked like the American government had simply been incompetent in not knowing he was a communist, when the fact was we knew he was a communist all along---another example of PI ?
In the mid-1960s, President Lyndon Johnson began to increase greatly our military presence in the Vietnam War, but it was once again conducted as a no-win war. Over 50,000 American soldiers were killed before the war was over, as we hadn't seemed to learn anything from the results of our no-win strategy in the Korean conflict. Actually, this apparent incompetence served the PE's purposes well. One of the lesser known founding fathers, Philip Freneau, in AMERICAN MUSEUM (July 1792) explained how losing wars would be part of the elite's strategy to regain control over the United States after our successful war for independence against the British.
Prior to the Vietnam War, patriotism was an important value among young Americans. However, pollster Daniel Yankelovich found that by 1973, only 19% of college educated youth and only 35% of non-college educated youth between 16 and 25 years of age thought patriotism is an important value. This great decline in the importance of patriotism was necessary for the PE to establish a world government under which national loyalties would be subsumed.
In 1979, the Shah of Iran was removed from power and replaced by the Ayatollah Khomeini, who would later have his supporters take over the American Embassy in Teheran. President Jimmy Carter's failed attempt to rescue our Embassy hostages looked like bumbling incompetence, but was it really? According to an April 30, 1980 "Foreign Report" by THE ECONOMIST NEWSPAPER LIMITED, what was actually occurring was a signal to the Soviets not to attempt to invade Iran! "Foreign Report" wrote that "although to the rest of the world the American raid appeared to be a pitiful failure, the unreported circumstances of the raid demonstrated to Russia that the American armed forces are able to send a large force (very much larger than the tiny force that landed in Iran) into a remote area of potential conflict...with success....The (American-Iranian) back up force already in place (before the raid) was extensive, numbering 2500-3000 men." Was this also an example of PI?
