    TwilightPad - tracking layoffs

    http://www.twilightpad.com has been tracking layoffs for over a year. While the layoffs aren't as intense as they were a year ago, it still paints a picture that a lot of Americans are out of work.

    whats the news on are non-citizens , getting fired?
    And leaving the country?
    IF WE AMERICANS HAD THE POWER,WHAT A NATION WE COULD HAVE AGAIN! LIKE THE 40s,50s,60s.

    Not sure how much data there is on that. A quick scan on that site reveals a few posts on that topic, at least for Microsoft, since that was a more famous example of a company cutting Americans while keeping H-1Bs.

    It raises an interesting question:

    1. the H-1B program is designed (theoretically) to fill a need that can't be filled at home

    2. if companies are laying off, shouldn't they cut the "fillers" of that need

    3. or should they cut deeper into the american workforce, artificially creating more needs that can't be filled (aren't being filled) at home?
