Following the announcement that a federal investigation cleared two Minneapolis officers of wrongdoing in the death of Jamar Clark, the head of the police union lashed out at activists and city leaders.
The harshest words from Lt. Bob Kroll, president of the Police Officers Federation of Minneapolis, were aimed Black Lives Matter, which he described as a "terrorist organization," accoridng to WCCO-TV.
"I don’t see Black Lives Matter as a voice for the black community in Minneapolis," he said during a press conference, pointing to the takeover of the 4th Precinct in the aftermath of the shooting.. "The disruption, the, you know, they firebombed the precinct. There were shootings outside the precinct, hundreds of thousands of dollars [of damage] to the precinct and squad cars."
He said that Officers Mark Ringgenberg and Dustin Schwarze -- and their families -- were all victims of the "obtrusive" investigation.
Kroll also blasted Mayor Betsy Hodges and Minneapolis City Council members Alondra Cano, Cam Gordon and Lisa Bender for creating a "dangerous and unproductive atmosphere."
"They let the process play out, and they were wrong," he said. "The officers' actions were justified."
