That's as of a few minutes ago.

Sen. Ensign from Nevada ammendment ....

Immigrants can't get Soc. Security benefits for payments made prior to being legally able to work.

In the first place, illegals must have had false documents or stolen Soc. Security Nos. to work. If so, that's considered a felony. So by voting this amendment down, now they can be rewarded for being felons?

PLEASE .. somebody clear my head?

In the second place, if given this "pathway" to citizenship (what a sad day in history this is so far), they are to "pay back income taxes" ..... what about paying back FICA taxes? Employer only pays half?

What in God's name is the matter with some of the bombastic idiots in this so called Senate? This includes McCain! Past war veteran. How deeply that clouds his former suffering.

As for the English language being the National Language, that had about 15 to 20 minutes devoted in favor of it by the senator from South Carolina. Then Dodd from Ct. raised some utterly stupid question, which may have relegated the topic to a "debate" now?

I've had and 8/12 x 11 pad in front on me, chronologically dating my own records here, and dating the times of each of the speakers at the same time. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind, why this Congress can't get a dad blame thing done. English started out, Dodd with his objections of a sort, Sessions with the Ensign Amendment, Schumer interjecting with his two cents about the Lugar/Dodd Bill, whistle blowers and the press, McCain opposed to Ensign Amendment, Ensign countered McCain by asking one question of several, "then if an alien receives legal status, they cannot be prosecuted?", Dodd then spoke about YESTERDAYS fence on the border and indicated he was going to draft/craft some language against that saying we should work with our Mexican neighbors, then Arlen Spector, Leahy, back to Specter. Lord Almighty ... what ever happened to order and taking care of business. Okay .. is this supposed to be multi-tasking? Not in my book!

If this demonstrates how our system works, we're all going down the tubes. So many senators are floating down the river of this live, with one, or none, oar(s) out of the water.

Unbelievable!!!! Most disgraceful demonstration of stupidity and pickiness I've ever seen displayed to date.

Right now, Hawaii Sen. is speaking about Veterans. Hope he gets somewhere positive in favor of the Vets.

For got to mention:

The ;money which has been going into the Soc. Security is put into what they call a "Suspense" fund and not recorded by individual name. (Have heard that SS know which numbers are legal and which are not). There is no way to tell how much any illegal has contributed, prior to becoming legal as I understand it.

Can you imagine what this is going to do to our Social Security system?


I always stand to be corrected. I certainly am not a well-informed nor knowledgeable as many here, so please help me out if I'm wrong.

I watched all of them debating this ridiculous amendment. I was thinking, this should be no problem. But Kennedy and McCain sided with the illegals explaining that "we werent going to charge them with any offenses" and "they would have done the same thing for their family" and on and on. It didnt matter that Sen Ensign who bought up the amendment had hundreds of thousands of "illegal ss card #'s" that were being used by illegals. I CANNOT BELIEVE THESE LAWBREAING LAW MAKERS!!!!

Not only is the money going into a Suspense Fund, when the person whose number it is LEGALLY reaches retirement age.........because they can't prove WHO put HOW MUCH money into it or WHEN........the LEGAL person who it belongs to will NOT receive Social Security benefits. Even though it's their number. My granddaughter's was stolen by an illegal and passed around. She went to the SS office and that is what they informed her.
SO JUST WHERE WILL THE MONEY GO TO????

Kennedy sides with criminals because he is one. Only in America can you be a murderer and still hold office for 50 plus years in a supposed Democracy.

Tabled means set aside and not to be voted on at this time. For all intents and purposes, a vote to table an amendment is a vote to kill it. Actual bills that are tabled may (rarely) be brought back for consideration at a later date. Tabled amendments are almost never revived.

Now it's 5 p.m.

I want to hear the result, the vote. The rest of this has been the most ridiculous spectacle of clowns. There is no doubt whatsoever in my mind, that we are sunk.
