How is a senator as old and as well known as John McCain supposed to come back from being universally loathed across the ideological spectrum?

TIME TO RETIRE: America’s Least Popular Senator Is…..John McCain.

Posted by Joe For America on Mar 8, 2014 in Culture, Politics, Uncategorized

John McCain is up for reelection in 2016 and one way or the other, it looks like the king of all RINOS may be retiring. It can’t come soon enough for me.

PPP’s newest Arizona poll finds that John McCain is unpopular with Republicans, Democrats, and independents alike and has now become the least popular Senator in the country. Only 30% of Arizonans approve of the job McCain is doing to 54% who disapprove. There isn’t much variability in his numbers by party- he’s at 35/55 with Republicans, 29/53 with Democrats, and 25/55 with independents, suggesting he could be vulnerable to challenges in both the primary and general elections the next time he’s up.

McCain trails in hypothetical general election match ups with both 2012 nominee Richard Carmona (41/35) and former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords (42/35). He would lead though in a match up with former Governor Janet Napolitano, 44/36. This has the potential to be an interesting one in 2016.

How is a senator as old and as well known as John McCain supposed to come back from being universally loathed across the ideological spectrum? There’s an easy answer to that question: he doesn’t. As a practical matter, what this means is that McCain is probably done when his term is up. Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, hey, hey, hey, good bye!

Is Arizona Finally Turning On John McCain?

March 7, 2014 by Ben Bullard

    UPI FILE

Should Senator John McCain (R-Ariz.) seek another Senate term in 2016, all that matters, perhaps, is that he’s popular in his State. But according to a new poll from the Public Policy Polling Institute, that’s about the only place he can still lay claim to broad-based voter support — and that’s on the strength of an election turnout that’s now nearly four years stale.

In fact, the Institute declared McCain the least popular Senator in the country Thursday, based on the results of a three-day phone survey carried out in late February and early March.

The Institute finds McCain is universally reviled across the party spectrum — and being a Republican doesn’t give him any real standing with most Americans who identify politically as Republicans. Only 35 percent of Arizona Republicans surveyed said they approve of the job he’s doing, compared with 55 percent who said they don’t. That barely exceeds his abysmal approval rating among Democrats and independents.

    From the summary:

Only 30% of Arizonans approve of the job McCain is doing to 54% who disapprove. There isn’t much variability in his numbers by party — he’s at 35/55 with Republicans, 29/53 with Democrats, and 25/55 with independents.

“The low opinion both Republicans and Democrats have of John McCain now means he could be vulnerable in both the primary and the general election next time around,” said Dean Debnam, President of Public Policy Polling. “George McGovern lost his Senate seat 8 years after losing his Presidential bid and McCain could suffer a similar fate.”

Is Arizona finally turning the corner on McCain? The Institute indicates Arizona voters might send him home if an election were held today. In hypothetical pairings against Richard Carmona and Gabrielle Giffords (yes, Gabrielle Giffords), McCain trails by 6 and 7 percentage points, respectively. He’s still slightly more popular than former Arizona Governor and DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano, leading his hypothetical race against her by 8 percentage points.

McCain has remained coy about his intentions after his current term ends, but has hinted that he’s already considering another run. If these poll numbers hold, though, we could be reading stories next year announcing his retirement from an illustrious Senate career.

    Out with the old.

    Conservatives Against Obama's Liberal Agenda

This Senator's popularity is even lower than Obama's, if you can believe it.

New Poll Reveals The Most Hated Senator In America

Posted by Dom The Conservative On March 10, 2014 0 Comment

Conservative Tribune — John McCain has to be one of the worst Republicans of all time. Does he ever even side with the GOP on votes? It seems like he’s collaborating with the Democrats more so than his own party.

True conservative Republicans like Ted Cruz are rebelling against the RINO establishment types like McCain, Lindsey Graham, John Boehner, and others who are selling us out to Democrats at every turn. Dr. Ben Carson said it this week at CPAC: It’s time to kick these people out of Congress.

A new poll was just released by Public Policy Polling that indicated that McCain is the most unpopular senator in America. His popularity is even less than Obama’s

    TheBlaze writes:

A new Public Policy Polling (PPP) survey released on Thursday suggests that Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) is the “least popular senator in the country.” The results shouldn’t be that shocking as McCain has a low approval rating among both Republicans and Democrats.

The Republican has an approval rating of just 30 percent among all Arizona voters while 44 percent of respondents also disapprove of his job performance and 16 percent aren’t sure, according to the poll by the left-leaning PPP.
Among fellow Republicans, McCain has only a 35 percent positive approval rating and a 55 percent disapproval rating.

McCain isn’t up for reelection until 2016, but the latest numbers could indicate that his time as a Republican U.S. senator could be coming to an end. He has been serving in U.S. Congress since 1982, starting in the House of Representatives. He was elected to the Senate in 1986.

“PPP conducted the poll from February 28 to March 2 among 870 registered Arizona voters,” HuffPost notes.
Republicans can’t stand McCain and Democrats don’t trust him.

It’s no wonder McCain couldn’t beat Obama: He has no principles. People don’t want a wishy-washy moderate… they want to see a stark contrast in a general election so that we have a true conservative versus a true liberal. McCain hardly provided that.

Notice how Democrats never care to put up a “moderate” candidate like Republicans always seem to feel the need to do.

John Kerry and Barack Obama were some of the most left-wing candidates to run for president in history. Why don’t we try nominating a conservative for a change, so voters can see what the Republican Party is really about.
