Trump’s DHS Pick Suggests Deterring Illegal Immigration by Bettering the Economies of Foreign Countries

President Trump’s nominee to lead the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Kirstjen Nielsen, suggested that the United States should work to help foreign nationals find jobs and better the economies in countries from which illegal aliens primarily come to the U.S.

During a Senate confirmation hearing, Nielsen said one of the major means to deter illegal immigration to the U.S. was to help foreigners find jobs in their native countries, primarily in Central America.

“We have to increase the prosperity there,” Nielsen said. “There’s a variety of programs, you and I have discussed, including the Alliance for Prosperity. But to really help the community find jobs, track the private sector, and enable the community to be resilient in such a way that it in of itself provides the type of environment that citizens would want to stay.”

Nielsen also blamed Americans’ drug crisis as a factor in why illegal aliens enter the U.S.
“I also feel very strongly that our drug demand in this country is also an underlying factor of that push, if you will. We … our drug demand is like no others,” Nielsen said. “Americans unfortunately, we have a higher drug rate — not only death rate – from it, but use of illegal drugs more than any other country.”

During the course of the hearing, Nielsen was praised by former President George W. Bush officials, such as Tom Ridge and Michael Chertoff, who both have relentlessly promoted and pushed amnesty for illegal aliens, Breitbart News reported.

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) also praised Nielsen, introducing her before the Senate committee. In 2013, Rubio infamously co-authored one of the biggest amnesties for illegal aliens since the 1980s, giving a pathway to U.S. citizenship to the estimated 12 to 30 million illegal aliens in the country.

As Breitbart News reported, Nielsen’s nomination to head DHS has been praised by the cheap foreign labor lobby, open borders advocates, and the Washington, D.C. national security establishment – which allied itself with the failed “Never Trump” movement during the 2016 presidential election.

In a pre-hearing questionnaire obtained by Breitbart News, Nielsen explained how she would be “ready to work with Congress” on a plan to give amnesty to the nearly 800,000 DACA illegal aliens in the U.S.

Likewise, Nielsen chaired a committee at the World Economic Forum that promoted mass immigration to Europe and the U.S., claiming Western nations did not have a choice and needed to accept millions of migrants. That report, as Breitbart News reported, was co-authored by executives from multinational corporations and world banks.

Additionally, Breitbart News reported on Nielsen’s involvement with the Bush administration’s response to Hurricane Katrina in 2005, when more than 30,000 illegal aliens and foreign workers were able to come to the U.S. to take American blue-collar jobs which those devastated by the natural disaster had hoped to get.

Following Hurricane Katrina, 1.5 million Americans were displaced by the storm, and easing of labor laws by the Bush administration left many looking for work outside of the Gulf Coast, since illegal aliens and foreign workers quickly dominated the paid clean-up effort.

Seems like nothing ever changes. Just enforce our immigration laws, remove acts that are being miused/abused by liars and let these foreign border breachers go home and figure out what to do for their country. Enough is enough, the$$ $$ drain, the quality of life downward spiral, the exposure to criminals/drugs etc. She doesn't seem to point out that if the drugs were not here, their would be NO BUYERS but she says the opposite. She is a worthless globalist and has no place in this cabinet considering the platform that brought this presidency.

We need to worry @ our economy, not how other countries should do better. Are we going to pay for that too? If trump doesn't take a surcharge on any industry we help set up in central america, puerto rico, etc and move those people back to their countries, he's worthless and nothing but a blowhard. Go spout more lies at rallies and wave the flag too.

Why are we still paying 20% of the UN's funding? So they can tell us we have to take more migrants???? gw, obama, 16yrs of appalling un-American activity opening the border wide to all sorts of criminals and lowlifes, taking millions of jobs, getting tax credits to anchor baby while we pay for everything for years to come. The ignoramuses laugh at us!

Now giving work visas over American hires, remember "no visa hire before an american hire"? Busy appointing either globalists with a history of 100% global migration or cabinet members that are unfit to serve for Americans' good but better suited to industries' favoriting over and above our safety and health and for THEIR profits. Rip up all our remaining wilderness areas and deafen every last mammal in our seas, and poison our people too - that is the trump agenda.

Day one has come and gone and they are all still here except for a handful of known criminals amongst mega millions of illegals and "fear" border hoppers.

Homeland Security nominee says no need for full U.S.-Mexico border wall

    Mica Rosen reuters) -

Donald Trump’s nominee to head the Department of Homeland Security told a U.S. Senate committee on Wednesday there was no need to build a wall on the Mexican border “from sea to shining sea” in remarks that contrasted with the president’s campaign pledge.

Kirstjen Nielsen repeated at her confirmation hearing what her predecessor, John Kelly, had said about the project. Kelly, Nielsen’s former boss, stepped down as head of the department this year to be Trump’s chief of staff.

Building a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border was one of Trump’s central campaign promises but so far only prototypes have been built as funding remains in question.

Nielsen, 45, served as Kelly’s deputy in the White House and before that as his chief of staff when he was secretary of homeland security in the opening months of Trump’s presidency.

In response to questions from senators on the Homeland Security Committee, Nielsen said she would work with “state and local actors on the ground” to find the best solutions for border security, including increasing the use of technology such as unmanned surveillance aircraft.

The ranking Democrat on the committee, Senator Claire McCaskill, raised concerns that no cost-benefit analysis had been done on the need for the wall as compared to other homeland security initiatives facing cuts in the president’s budget.

“These decisions shouldn’t be based on politics,” McCaskill said at the hearing.
Nielsen responded that any decision about resources needed to be “risk based.”

If confirmed by the Senate, Nielsen would take the reins at a department with more than 240,000 employees that is responsible for issues such as U.S. border and airport security, immigration policy, disaster response and refugee admissions.

She is a cyber security expert and highlighted those concerns in her opening remarks. “Cyber criminals and nation states are continually looking for ways to exploit our hyperconnectivity,” Nielsen said

A day before the hearing a bipartisan group of dozens of former U.S. Homeland Security officials sent letters supporting her nomination.

Nielsen served in the administration of Republican President George W. Bush as Special Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and was involved in revising disaster relief policies after Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

When asked by another Democratic senator whether she believed humans were the primary cause of climate change, which scientists have linked to worsening natural disasters, Nielsen said: “I do absolutely believe that the climate is changing and that there are many contributions”.
