    President Bush Losing His Defenders

    Theft From the Taxpayers
    By Carl F. Worden

I'm certain I am preaching to the choir here, whether you are considered Liberal or Conservative, Democrat or Republican: What did we get for our money when President Bush appointed Mike Brown to head FEMA? Here's a guy who had no background whatsoever in emergency management or anything remotely related. He had been an attorney for the Arabian Horse Association, and he'd been so bad at that job he was ousted before Da Prez appointed him to head FEMA. Now, if you listen to hard-core Republican Neocons, we are at war. I don't quite see it that way, but I'll play along for the moment. Let's say we really are in a war situation, where every day represents a deadly threat to the domestic American population. On any given day, if you believe all the crap about yellow-orange-red "threat" levels, something really devastating and man-made could have and should have happened in America, be it an Anthrax attack, a "dirty" nuke conventional attack, or a true nuke attack in a major city like New York, where multiple suitcase nukes are detonated at the same time. Okay, so if such a dire threat existed and still exists, wouldn't you think this president would have appointed somebody to run FEMA who had actually worked as a leader in FEMA-related occupations? Back when I wrote, There Is No Terrorist Threat One and Two, I told you all that, based upon the president's actions, there was no actual domestic terrorist threat to Americans on American streets. Some of you were oh-so indignant that I would ever suggest such a thing. According to you, I was a totally ignorant of the obvious threat. You guys and gals were all worked up, like puppets on a string, and Da Prez loved it. But 4 years later, not another significant terrorist attack did take place in homeland America.

I told you so! Look, when Da Prez is telling you there is a daily threat to our way of life, but he's leaving the borders wide open for anyone to illegally invade our nation 4 years after the 9/11 attacks, there is a problem with his credibility. It's not that I'm so smart, because I'm not any smarter than anyone else. The edge I have is my respect for Jesus' teachings, where He warned us to look at what a person DOES in relation to that person's ACTS. All of you Republican Neocons and traditional conservatives heard that instruction in church -- or you should have. You Liberal Socialist Democrats wouldn't have received such instructions, but I think you'll agree with me that the basic instruction makes sense. So armed with that bit of common sense, and observing what Da Prez did in relation to what he claimed, was there ever truly a terrorist threat to the United States after 9/11/2001? Even if there was, in Da Prez' mind there clearly was not. Think about it. Not only did Da Prez not secure our borders, but now we discover to our horror that Da Prez appointed a guy to head FEMA that was so unqualified to do the job that Da Prez might as well have appointed his personal gardener. Everybody is critical of, and demanding of FEMA Director Mike Brown's resignation or firing, and nobody is pointing to the idiot who appointed him to the job! That's where the real problem is, and now I'm wondering about the credentials of this president's other appointees. Does his Education Secretary know jack about education, or was she a political hack Bush owed a favor to? Who else did Bush appoint to high bureaucratic office who doesn't have the qualifications? I think it's time for a major shake-down! Look, if any of you were offered the job and salary to run FEMA, you'd have taken the job in a heartbeat. It is for that reason I will not hold Mike Brown in contempt. It is the duty of the Executive to appoint people to run each agency based upon their qualifications to do so. Anything short of that constitutes theft from the taxpayers, and in the case of the Katrina tragedy, we're talking about needless loss of American lives as well. If there really is a terrorist threat to the shores of America, wouldn't you think Bush would have appointed a person supremely qualified to have dealt with any and all threats, including a natural disaster? I swear, President Bush will go down in the history books as the worst president who ever occupied the White House, and this is written by a guy who was a life-long Republican Christian conservative. As each day unwinds, the discoveries of this one man's incompetence fills a new chapter. I can see where Bush might do a little pay-back for political favors by appointing the unqualified to head certain other federal agencies, but FEMA??? FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the one agency all Americans look to for protection and immediate response, was headed by a Horse Lawyer? You Bush Lovers have completely run out of excuses for your deity. There is just nothing left to defend anymore.

Good article. I especially liked the last line...even being a Christian Republican...I liked it. So sad, but this writing has been on the wall for all of us to read...some did, and some didn't. I write to a cousin of mine almost every day...I send him articles...send him facts..send him sites to visit...and he still defends Bush and Cheney...not with logic but with determination. What a world!?
