    P. S. I would never vote for a candidate who refers to a woman's inherently natural and personal privacy rights as a "uterus" in any manner of speaking let alone as rhetoric in a public campaign stump speech.

This guy wants to somehow broaden the appeal of the Republican message. How he's going to do that, while offending large numbers of voters, is a mystery. I don't recall seeing a poll which differentiated women's opinion of wage equality, but I suspect that Paul has offended many of them a second time with his Politburo silliness.

As was posted early in this thread, Paul isn't running against Debbie Schulz or the DNC. And needlessly giving the impression that he's against wage equality is tantamount to saying that he doesn't really want to be president of this magnificent country.

If this guy actually has message which he believes will resonate with voters, he would be wise to get to it.

    ANALYSIS
New poll shows most Americans would ban abortion after the first trimester

People on both sides of the abortion debate had much to talk about when Republicans introduced a bill that would ban abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy.

    NARAL lobbied hard against it
, and though the bill easily passed the House before and is supported by a majority of Americans, Obama promised to veto it. The bill was tabled due to debate over the rape exception, which is unfortunate for apparently both pro-lifers andpro-abortion advocates alike. A new poll shows that a whopping 84% of Americans want to ban abortion after the first trimester, and that includes 7 out of 10 who consider themselves “pro-choice.”

Eighty-four percent of Americans want significant restrictions on abortion, and would limit it to, at most, the first three months of pregnancy. This includes almost 7 in 10 (69 percent) who identify themselves as “pro-choice.”
The same percentage (84 percent) also says that laws can protect both the well-being of a woman and the life of the unborn.
In addition, by more than 20 points (60 percent to 38 percent), Americans say abortion is morally wrong.

Other key findings of the survey include:
    • 64 percent say the nation’s abortion rate is higher than it should be. Only 7 percent thinks it is too low.
    • 78 percent support parental notification before a minor can obtain an abortion.
    • 68 percent oppose taxpayer funding of abortion, while only 28 percent support it.
    • By nearly three to one, Americans see abortion as doing a woman more harm than good in the long run (59 percent to 22 percent).
    • By 20 points (57 percent to 37 percent), Americans support proposed legislation that would permit medical professionals and organizations to refuse to provide abortions or refer patients for abortions.

Republicans say that they plan on voting on the 20-week abortion ban later in the session, and this polling should serve as yet another motivation for them to do so. Americans do not support abortion; polling has repeatedly shown this to be true. And they especially do not like late-term abortion.

There are only a small handful of countries that allow late-term abortion, and permitting such a barbaric practice to continue in the United States despite scientific evidence showing that unborn babies can feel pain in the womb, and repeated polling showing that a large majority of Americans — including a large majority of women — want it banned makes no sense.

The people who do want late-term abortion are the extremists, the ones calling for free abortions, on demand and without apology. They are in the minority, yet their voices also tend to be the loudest.

It’s time for politicians to stop listening to the vocal minority and pandering to the pro-abortion extremists, who are so very out of touch with what the rest of Americans want, and to start listening to what Americans are actually saying about abortion.

Geez, Judy, you always have to be right, don't you? Okay, let's see you dispute a poll done by a liberal media organization.

HuffPo Poll: Americans Overwhelmingly Support Late-Term Abortion Ban

    Guy Benson | Jul 12, 2013

Earlier this week, Dan asked if America is becoming an increasingly pro-life nation. A nationwide poll commissioned by the Huffington Post (!) injects another data set into that discussion:

Most Americans would favor sweeping new national restrictions on abortion after the 20th week of pregnancy, according to a new HuffPost/YouGov poll. But the poll also shows many Americans remain conflicted in their views on abortion. By a margin of 59 percent to 30 percent, respondents to the new poll said they would favor a federal law banning abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy. A recent United Technologies/National Journal poll found Americans divided over the possible ban, with a narrower plurality of 48 percent to 44 percent supporting it. Respondents to the HuffPost/YouGov poll were split in their views on whether abortion should usually be legal or illegal, with a large number falling somewhere in the middle -- a finding consistent with other surveys. Nineteen percent said they think abortion should always be legal, while 27 percent said it should be generally legal, but with some restrictions. Another 17 percent said that abortion should always be illegal, while 30 percent said it should be generally illegal, except in special circumstances.

Click through and take the interactive polls to see just how out-of-touchHuffPo readers are with the rest of the country on this issue. By a two-to-one margin, Americans support the House-passed legislation banning most abortions after 20 weeks (beginning of the sixth month). Among those respondents who are "conflicted" on abortion policy, a 70 percent majority backs this proposed restrictions. As a sop to its heavily pro-choice readership,HuffPo cites National Journal's poll on the question, which that produced a closer result. But even that survey (with its more slanted question wording) turned up plurality support for ending late-term abortion. Among the groupsmost supportive of the law were women, young people and political independents; just a predictable coalition of right-wing, anti-woman extremists, obviously. On the broader question of abortion's legality Americans split down the middle in theHuffPo survey: 47 percent say abortion should be limited to very few circumstances or totally illegal, while 46 percent believe the practice should face few or no limits. Other polling has shown strong public opposition to sixth-month abortions, both in Texas (note the gender breakdown) and nationally. A 2012Harvard survey of young voters found that two-thirds of 18-29 year-olds support stricter limits on abortion, while a slim majority embraces a more comprehensive pro-life stance.

Okay, so I'll say it again, the majority of Americans do not support late term abortions. I think my point has been made, so let's move on.

Okay, so I'll say it again, the majority of Americans do not support late term abortions. I think my point has been made, so let's move on.

MW, it's not about me being right or wrong, you're posting the poll from a Catholic funded source that claims 84% of Americans support a ban on late term abortions, and I don't believe any poll from the Catholic Church on abortion, contraception, homosexuality, illegal immigration and a host of other issues, because they're a self-serving religious organization and extremely biased, like all religious organizations are these days.

20 weeks is not a "late term" abortion, it's a mid-term abortion, and a 20 week fetus does not weigh 7 pounds. So what was your point? My point was Republicans need to avoid headlines during the 2016 election campaign regarding abortion and gay marriage. Are you saying you disagree with that because most Americans oppose late term abortions, that is until they or someone they care about needs or wants one? Rand Paul is against all abortions, anything that hurts unborn life. Neither he nor any other Republican candidates who take the Pro-Life position that involves using their power as President to change the law will make it to the White House because they'll lose the 2016 election. They'll lose, because women, who are the majority voters in this country, won't allow their election.

The point at which an abortion becomes late-term is often related to the "viability" (ability to survive outside the uterus) of the fetus. Sometimes late-term abortions are referred to as post-viability abortions. However, viability varies greatly among pregnancies. Nearly all pregnancies are viable after the 27th week, and no pregnancies are viable before the 21st week. Everything in between is a "grey area".[5]

    • United States: In 2003, from data collected in those areas that sufficiently reported gestational age, it was found that 6.2% of abortions were conducted between 13 and 15 weeks, 4.2% between 16 and 20 weeks, and 1.4% at or after 21 weeks.[13] Because the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's annual study on abortion statistics does not calculate the exact gestational age for abortions performed past the 20th week, there are no precise data for the number of abortions performed after viability.[13] In 1997, the Guttmacher Institute estimated the number of abortions in the U.S. past 24 weeks to be 0.08%, or approximately 1,032 per year.[14]

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Late_te...n_of_pregnancy

No, your point hasn't been made, because your point is that its okay for Republican candidates to run on anti-abortion rhetoric, because most Americans oppose late term abortions in polls on the subject. Is that it? That doesn't work, because women are the majority voters in the US, and women will not allow that candidate to become President even if in their personal view late term abortions are icky to them and they would like to see a ban. When those women go to the polls to select a candidate, they will not support the candidate who is pushing to restrict a woman's right to an abortion. In elections, it doesn't matter whether a majority of women vote against you, it only matters if 10% or more vote against you that would have otherwise voted for you.

Hillary Clinton is going to be a formidable opponent because of her life-time record on civil rights, equal rights and women's rights. She was raised a Republican and it still shows in many areas. Most Democrats wanted her to be the candidate in 2008 and were furious that the DNC tricked the primary elections that handed that nomination to Barack Obama. She would be the first Woman President of the United States, which is going to draw a lot of voters to her, just as Obama being the first Black President of the United States did.

So, Republicans who actually want to win the General Election need to shut up about abortion, gay rights, religious liberty and all this other religion driven nonsense, or sit down and stop wasting valuable donor money and time and effort on the part of Republican activists who get out the vote.

Voters will be hearing about Hillary Clinton having led the charge on the Lily Ledbetter bill that gives women more time to file suits on pay discrimination while listening to Republican candidates whine about what's going on in a woman's "uterus". Which action is more important to women? Hillary will be talking about her support for the Pay Fairness Act while Republicans are lying about the weight of a late term fetus in the "uterus". The choice is simple for women voters and the men who support women's rights, which is by far the majority of the men in the United States. She's going to win by a landslide, perhaps the largest margin in US history UNLESS Republican candidates shut up about matters that are really none of their business to begin with, especially personal social matters like abortion and gay rights.

That's my advice, and please feel free to take it or leave it.

I'm a part of the Republican Majority for Choice, www.gopchoice.com, that's committed to women's reproductive rights, and trying to save our party from the adverse consequences of anti-abortion and anti-contraception stances that we feel are wrong, so any time these issues come up, I'll be commenting on them.

After reading your rant, I guess it's safe to say you have finally conceded to my point that most Americans, including women, oppose late term abortions. Thank you, now we can finally get back to the issues that brought us all here (on ALIPAC) in the first place.

Oh, and you don't always have to have the last word.

Oh, and you don't always have to have the last word.
Well, after responding to your rants, where you claim I said something I didn't say, I suppose I will just have to have the last word. I never said the majority of Americans support or oppose late term abortions, I said the majority of American voters are women, and whether they support or oppose late term abortions, they will not support a Republican candidate for President who is running against abortion, so my advice to Republican candidates is to not make headlines running against abortion.

Again, you can take my advice or not.

And what Republican candidates do and say happens to be a great part of what ALIPAC as a political action committee is here to do. We need an anti-illegal immigration candidate for President who can win the General Election. I assume we all agree on that. And it's my opinion that an anti-abortion candidate can not win the General Election, and will not.

If you don't learn from history, you're doomed to repeat it.
