Report: Kris Kobach and General Kelly Likely DHS Nominees

Report: Kris Kobach and General Kelly Likely DHS Nominees…

Posted on December 6, 2016 by sundance

For those who have followed the construct of the transition nominees this report does seem to highlight the most likely outcome for the Department of Homeland Security.

Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach is the subject matter expert on how to implement and strengthen the legal enforcement of current immigration laws. General Kelly would balance the department with a more external focus on threat assessment/prevention.

Regardless of the appointees, the Trump security policy itself will face rabid opposition from the immigration usurpers within the DC UniParty. In addition to all Democrats, Decepticon leadership, ie. those paid by Tom Donohue’s expansive lobbying, including: Lindsey Graham, John McCain, Jeff Flake, Mitch McConnell, Orin Hatch and John Cornyn within the Senate; along with Paul Ryan, Kevin McCarthy, Mick Mulvaney etc. within the House.

The two issues the GOPe wing of the UniParty will fight most will be ‘America-First’ economics and ‘Open-Border’ immigration. Both of these issues lay at the very financial heart of the Never Trump movement.

WASHINGTON – Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach and retired Marine Gen. John Kelly are likely to be tapped for secretary and deputy secretary of homeland security, according to a top transition official familiar with the president-elect’s current thinking, but the source would not reveal which of the two men is favored for the top post and which is likely to be deputy secretary.

President-elect Trump has met separately with Kobach and Kelly. The agency will play a major role in implementing the ambitious immigration policies of his administration.

The president-elect also brought Rep. Mike McCaul, R-Texas, in to meet with him at Trump Tower last week, though an aide to the House Homeland Security Committee chairman told the Washington Examiner McCaul has not heard from the transition team since the meeting. (continue reading)

Never doubt the severity of the opposition President Trump will face on the issues of the economy and immigration. There are still trillions of dollars at stake, and the UniParty creatures are poised to fight against any policy that undermines the larger globalist agenda.

This is going to be an epic battle, and President Trump will need every single one of us engaged in the endeavor…

Trump likely to have Kobach, Kelly run DHS

    Gabby Morrongiello, December 6, 2016

Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach and retired Marine Gen. John Kelly are likely to be tapped for secretary and deputy secretary of homeland security, according to a top transition official familiar with the president-elect's current thinking, but the source would not reveal which of the two men is favored for the top post and which is likely to be deputy secretary.

"I'm not taking it as a sign," the aide said.

Neither Kobach nor Kelly returned requests for comment, and transition officials refused to say whether the president-elect's DHS pick will be among additional administration announcements he is expected to make this week.

"Last Thursday we weren't announcing the Department of Defense nominee, then [Trump] went on stage and ended up announcing," one source said, emphasizing the president-elect's unpredictable nature.

Because Trump has already tapped Gens. Michael Flynn and Jim Mattis for top positions in his administration, some are urging him to put Kobach at the helm of DHS and Kelly just below him.

At least two stakeholders seemed to prefer that arrangement.

"If he has too many generals in the cabinet it becomes almost an extension of the Joint Chiefs," Dan Stein, president of the anti-amnesty Federation for American Immigration Reform, told the ExaminerTuesday evening, adding that Kobach would bring "profound, deep and rich expertise on all faces of immigration law and immigration enforcement and policy."

"He is clearly the best prepared person in the country to implement the president-elect's immigration program," said Mark Krikorian, executive director Center for Immigration Studies, said of Kobach.

Kobach, a graduate of Harvard, Yale Law School and Oxford University, has made quite a name for himself in Republican circles, particularly among advocates of stricter immigration laws and the immediate deportation of all criminal illegal immigrants. The 50-year-old constitutional lawyer previously served in the Justice Department as counsel to former Attorney General John Ashcroft and oversaw the development of the National Security Entry-Exit Registration System in the wake of the Sept. 11 terror attacks.

In 2010, Kobach worked with Arizona state Sen. Russell Pearce to craft SB 1070, a broad anti-illegal immigration measure that attracted considerable controversy and that the Supreme Court partially struck down in 2012.

"He's been a popular person and, of course, a controversial one at times," a longtime friend of Kobach told the Examiner. "But he's been very helpful to some cities and states on their laws dealing with immigration issues, and I think he would be great in the Department of Homeland Security or any position, frankly."

Kelly, 66, would bring a different set of skills to DHS considering his extensive military background. The four-star general commanded Marines during the 2003 invasion of Iraq and made significant advancements in efforts to stem the flow of drugs from Central and South America during his tenure as the head of U.S. Southern Command.

"He understands the security threat so he would bring a lot of knowledge of tactical deterrence [and] the use of physical structures to deter illegal migratory flows across the border," Stein said. "He also understands the instabilities associated with shadow and cartel-controlled governments."

Both Stein and Krikorian conceded that Kelly might also have a better chance than Kobach at getting confirmed in the Senate, a requirement for the top DHS post.

Krikorian said Kobach "has been a lightning rod for controversy, so the Left is primed to demonize him in a way that is just harder to do with" other cabinet appointees including, potentially, Kelly.

"Obviously if Republicans hold together, they can confirm any Cabinet pick [Trump] sends, but would any anti-border Republicans like [Arizona Sen. Jeff] Flake peel off?" he wondered.

Vice President-elect Mike Pence said Tuesday morning the transition team is expected to reveal more appointments before the end of the week. In the meantime, anti-illegal immigration activists have said a Kobach-Kelly or Kelly-Kobach leadership package at DHS would reaffirm Trump's commitment to crack down on unauthorized immigration to the U.S. and pursue long-term solutions to alleviate many of the problems associated with it.

"This would signal that Trump wasn't bullsh——-g in the campaign — that he actually intends to follow through on his commitment to regain control of immigration," Krikorian explained. "The two of them (Kobach and Kelly) would complement each other if this is what ends up working out."

I know Gen. Kelly is the man now, but I heard something on Fox News tonight that surprised me. A guest of Bill O'Reilly's said Rudy Giulaini was offered the Secretary of DHS job but turned it down. Supposedly he was holding out for Secretary of State. At this point in time though, it sounds like his stock has hit bottom for that position.

Did not know this MW. I will try to catch the interview you speak of tonight during the rerun of Bill O'Reilly's show.
