Jeb Bush: To Win the Presidency, You Have to Run Against the Base

    Rush Limbaugh

This is you're talking to Chuck Todd. "Chuck, look, you know what it's like with these people. I've gotta get 'em to vote for me. I'm really not crazy about it, but that's what I have to do. Just relax, Chuck, until we get to the general, and then you'll be happy."

Jeb Bush: To Win the Presidency, You Have to Run Against the Base

    BEGIN TRANSCRIPT
RUSH: Jeb Bush, who, you know, Mitt Romney, they agree on this immigration business. Jeb Bush, he's waiting to decide whether he wants to run, but he thinks that the Republicans need to be less contentious. And what else did he say, less contentious... (interruption) Right. Republicans need to be more practical and less contentious.
And Fox News agrees. Fox News: See, a government shutdown, even talking about it, that's unnecessarily provocative. It's unproductive and it's not pragmatic and it's very contentious, so we need to just end all of that.
    BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: We have a Jeb Bush audio sound bite. Let's see. It's last night in Washington at the Wall Street Journal's CEO Council. It's an invitation-only event featuring some of the nation's most powerful CEOs. Former Florida governor Jeb Bush spoke, and this is what he said about running for president.
JEB: I don't know if I'd be a good candidate or a bad one. I kind of know how a Republican can win, whether it's me or somebody else, and it has to be much more uplifting, much more positive, much more willing to... y'know, to be practical now in Washington world -- lose the primary to win the general -- without violating your principles.
RUSH: Okay, now, how do you do that, though? I mean, it's impossible to lose the primary and win the general. Am I missing something here? "In other words, you gotta be practical in Washington world." You've gotta "lose the primary to win a general without violating your principles." Yeah, but how do you get the nomination if you lose it? (interruption) You've gotta lose the primary to win the general? (interruption)
Well, he doesn't say... (interruption) Oh. Oh. Oh. You have to be willing to lose the primary? But, if you lose, it doesn't matter. If you're willing to lose it or if you do lose it, you've still lost it. I don't know anybody... (interruption) Ohhhh. That's it? See, this is my problem as Mayor of Realville. Politics is not what it "is." It's what it seems. So you tell people you're willing to lose the primary, but you don't.
You tell people you're willing to lose the primary, which means you are willing to not be a conservative. You can't be "ideological." The problem with the primaries is that's where the Republican base votes, and they're a bunch of ideologues, a bunch of conservatives. Well, the pragmatists aren't gonna win, so you've gotta be willing to run against the base.
That's right. Now I guess... (interruption) Well, yeah, they do believe if you're gonna be president you gotta win in the Northeast. We've proven that the last two elections, right? Yeah, to win the presidency, you've gotta win the Northeast. Yeah, we've got that locked down! We're certainly doing that, aren't we? Anyway, this completely ignores what happened the last two presidential elections.
You have to have your base first and then bring other people in. But this sounds like you throw the base away. You're willing to. (interruption) No, no. It is very practical. That's what he's saying. It's practical to admit that I don't want the base. You have to do what it takes to win them but you really don't want 'em, and that's all you have to say.
"Yeah, I'll take the base voting for me..." This is if you're talking to Chuck Todd. "Chuck, look, you know what it's like with these people. I've gotta get 'em to vote for me. I'm really not crazy about it, but that's what I have to do. Just relax, Chuck, until we get to the general, and then you'll be happy." Is that what it is?
Chuck Todd being a metaphor for everybody in the media.

WSJ: If conservatives can’t get behind super conservative Jeb Bush, the Republican Party is in BIG trouble

According to the WSJ show on Fox News, Jeb Bush is virtually another incarnation of Reagan and if conservatives can’t get behind him just because he said something supporting Common Core and they don’t like his views on immigration, then the Republican Party is going to have big trouble competing.
And don’t forget, Latinos loved him in Florida.

I'll not only vote for Hillary; I'll work like 100 men to get her elected and she's one of the most incompetent/corrupt dumb asses in the Democrat party

Well, while I hear what you're saying, I just couldn't bring myself to support Hillary either. They would both be equally bad, which means I just wouldn't be able to be a participant in voting for the presidency in 2016.
