I'm stumped here. Is there a Senate bill we can ask the Senators to support?

One of my senators is backing the Coryn/Kyl bill. The nice little aid told me that Sen Allard does NOT support amnesty or guestworkers. When I told her the Coryn bill does, she said she'd have to look into that!

Then she asked what bill in the Senate I would want him to support. As far as I know THERE IS NOTHING close to what we'd like to see passed.

Anyone know more??

I saw S 2117 on the Numbers Action Buffet pegged as a good ENFORCEMENT bill. Bt the fax was stopped, and I'm wondering if that bill has already been voted down. Does anyone hav a site for looking up the pending bills. I'm not thinking well this morning.

First bil:

HR 4313 - The TRUE Enforcement Act and Border Security Act of 2005
We urge all OJJPAC supporters to join the 9/11 Families for a Secure America in support H.R. 4313 - The TRUE Enforcement Act and Border Security Act of 2005. A big advantage to H.R. 4313 is that it does not contain any amnesty/guest-worker schemes. H.R. 4313's provisions focus on enforcement and border security, which must be the first step in addressing the country's immigration and security problems.

For example, H.R. 4313 addreses the Visa Waiver Program, the tracking of aliens temporarily admitted into the US.The government currently has no database to identify which aliens overstay their visa's. This is an issue of importance to the 9-11 Families for a Secure America because some of the terrorist who attacked the WTC were in the US on expired visas.


H.R. 4313 is not a cure-all for our national security ills but it is a step in the right direction.

H.R. 4437- Sensenbrenner/King Border Protection, Antiterrorism, and Illegal Immigration Control Act of 2005
We urge all OJJPAC supporters to support H.R. 4437. The bill, known as the Sensenbrenner/King Border Protection, Antiterrorism, and Illegal Immigration Control Act, has several helpful immigration and security enforcement provisions. H.R. 4437 authorizes the construction of nearly 700 miles of border fencing along our southwest border. It also creates a new electronic employment verification system, to help employers verify the elegibility of employees to work in the US. The bill also repeals the controversial “visa lottery� program. H.R. 4437 also reaffirms the inherent authority of state and local law enforcement agencies to assist in the enforcement of US immigration laws. The bill also adds penalties for certain immigration-related crimes, including alien smuggling and passport fraud.

Thanks Steve for your quick response. I am aware of those two house bills. My question is whether there is a Senate bill that we can ask our Senators to co-sponsor. Isn't there any other SENATE BILL they can co-sponsor? One of my senators (Salazar) is co-sponsor to McCain/Kennedy bill. Do you know a site where I can check current bills up before the senate? And do you know anything about that Senate bill S2117?

I don't have an answer for you. None come to mind, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. I've been doing so many things --- website -- speeches -- distributing flyers...I'm running out of time to do additional research.
