IRGC takes delivery of mass-produced long-range missile launchers

TEHRAN – A large number of new long-range missile launchers were delivered to the Aerospace Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) in a ceremony held in Tehran on Sunday.
The surface-to-surface missile launchers had been manufactured by the Iran Aviation Industries Organization of the Defense Ministry.

Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi and the commander of the Aerospace Force of the IRGC, Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, attended the ceremony, which was held to commemorate the anniversary of the liberation of Khorramshahr in 1982.
Iran liberated the southwestern port city of Khorramshahr from Iraqi occupation on May 24, 1982 during the 1980-1988 Iran–Iraq war. The Iraqis had captured the city early in the war on October 26, 1980.

On the sidelines of the ceremony, Brigadier General Vahidi told reporters, “The mass delivery of the launchers, besides being a manifestation of the might of the Islamic Republic of Iran and its self-sufficiency in designing and manufacturing this strategic system, shows the strength and massive missile firepower of the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who can crush the aggressive enemy with a large number of missiles fired simultaneously if (Iran) faces a threat.”

He said that the manufacture of new pieces of military hardware is meant to enhance the country’s deterrence capability, adding, “Islamic Iran is not seeking confrontation with anyone and will not begin a war or a conflict, but it will also not allow any act of aggression and hostility.”
