    Letter to McCain

I just sent this letter to Senator McCain:

    Senator McCain,

I have watched you on your presidential campaign debates quoting your service to the United States, using your being a veteran and POW as your mantra. We always hear about the sacrifices made by our servicemen, but never about the sacrifices made by the families.

I was a military wife during the Vietnam era. My brother-in law was a POW for nine years, my other brother-in law was killed in battle. My husband and my marriage was a casualty of Vietnam. I know first hand how war can destroy families, not just the servicemen. My husband disappeared in 1974 without any trace. That’s three destroyed families, ten children that basically grew up without fathers, three woman that had to raise and support these children.

How did we do it? We did it by working two to three jobs. Seventy hour work weeks. You know those jobs that Americans won’t do.

I have to believe for every homeless veteran, for every veteran suffering from the effects of war there is a family suffering right along. There is a mother working to raise and feed her family. Our nation may forget these woman, but they too have sacrificed for their families and their country.

My reason for writing this Senator McCain is; We have another war going on where our troops are being deployed over and over. We know what this is already doing to our men, but what about the families? There are going to be broken families. Once again the mothers are going to have to take on the responsibilities of raising the children. I worry that these mothers are not going to find the jobs needed with all the outsourcing and illegal immigrants taking the jobs that we once did.

So when I see you spouting your mantra it makes me mad. I hold you accountable, you of all people have let down the families of the men that served with you. Were you so blinded by your service that you didn’t see what happened to the men and the families that served with you?

I would like for you to tell me how you can justify giving amnesty to illegal aliens making it harder for the families of veterans to survive?

That is a terrific letter and McCain needs to read it. In this new year, I hope your families will be blessed many times over. Thanks for sharing.

Let's just HOPE that McCain is out of the picture after today.

Then, we will be able to focus on the "Huckster" and Guliani!!

    Sherry re letter to McCain

Amen, Sherry. Well said for all of us who stand beside you in this. However, the American people need to look at not only Sen. McCain but Clinton, Huckabee, and yes, Obama too. Nothing is being said by the Dems about illegal immigration. Change is the new word but the American people need to stop and review the backgrounds and history of those candidates they believe will bring change. Before you vote make sure that change includes everyone. I don't know about you but as a white American I feel passed over......again!

Thanks guys, it has always pissed me off that the government turned it's back on all of the families.

I remember as military wives we were told if our husbands woke us up at night having a dream too get out of bed quick. I remember the black outs and the physical abuse. I worry so much about the families now going through this.

You know moving around and having to take care of the kids it is hard for military wives to have a career. The only jobs available to us were service jobs.

My daughter a military wife has just been relocated to San Diego, her husband is in the navy and getting ready to be deployed to the Persian Gulf, she is having a hard time getting a job because of transporting her children to three different schools (no busses but we can give 3 million for vans for the immigrants) and because she doesn't speak Spanish even though she is a lvn.

I've been watching and it just makes me furious that illegal immigrants have been treated better than the families of our veterans.

    WOW! What a great letter.

I am just sorry to say that I feel like McCain could care less what you say. Or any of us for that matter. Are we to believe that these politicians REALLY give a rats ass what we say or how we feel?
I am sorry to dampen the mood, but I really don't think anyone in Washington cares.

I agree insane McCain will probably ignore her letter even though she speaks the truth. The only way to get any politician's attention is for a mob of angry voters to literally carpet-bomb them with letters and irate phone calls. Then they wake up. Just ask Sen. Lindsey Graham.

I am sure my letter will be ignored, I have felt that way for years. I guess I was simply tired of brewing over this. I was tired of hearing of sacrifices of our servicemen without anyone acknowledging what sacrifices the families make.

I have spoken to returning servicemen, I see the anger and I know what is coming

When I heard McCain on TV spouting his war record I saw red and had to respond.

He may not listen, but if someone on this site stops and thinks about the families, about how illegal immigration and outsourcing will affect them then maybe there is hope.
