The Rotherham horror - A catastrophic failure of multi-culturalism. "Pedophile gangs"

"Pedophile gangs went on a 16-year rampage that claimed over 1400 victims, and the government strenuously resisted noticing, because most of the perpetrators were Pakistani Muslims, and officials didn’t want to appear insensitive."
Our culture needs to wake up and take a stand for what is right and wrong.

British Social Workers ‘Downplayed’ Ethnicity Of Pakistani Sexual Abusers

It’s not pretty to watch a news story blow the collected minds of an entire nation, especially when it’s our close friends in the United Kingdom. What happened in the town of Rotherham, South Yorkshire is almost beyond belief. It’s also the most absolute and horrifying failure of the same multiculturalist ideology that holds sway over much of U.S. government. To put it bluntly, pedophile gangs went on a 16-year rampage that claimed over 1400 victims, and the government strenuously resisted noticing, because most of the perpetrators were Pakistani Muslims, and officials didn’t want to appear insensitive.
The UK Telegraph sums up the case most succinctly:

More than 1,400 children were sexually abused over a 16 year period by gangs of paedophiles after police and council bosses turned a blind eye for fear of being labelled racist, a damning report has concluded.
Senior officials were responsible for “blatant” failures that saw victims, some as young as 11, being treated with contempt and categorised as being “out of control” or simply ignored when they asked for help.

In some cases, parents who tried to rescue their children from abusers were themselves arrested. Police officers even dismissed the rape of children by saying that sex had been consensual.
Downing Street on Tuesday night described the failure to halt the abuse in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, as “appalling”.
People keep using that word “appalling” when stiffer adjectives would seem more appropriate. How bad is the official fallout from this unspeakable disaster? So far, one guy lost his job. The police have also formally apologized to the victims they were supposed to be protecting. That should make everyone feel better.
Following the publication of the report, the leader of Rotherham council, Roger Stone, resigned, but no other council employees will face disciplinary proceedings after it was claimed that there was not enough evidence to take action.
There were calls for Shaun Wright, the Police and Crime Commissioner for South Yorkshire (pictured above, left), to step down after it emerged that he was the councillor with responsibility for children’s services in Rotherham for part of the period covered by the report.
Details of the appalling depravity in the town and the systemic failures that allowed it to continue were laid out in a report published by Professor Alexis Jay, the former chief inspector of social work in Scotland. Victims were gang raped, while others were groomed and trafficked across northern England by groups of mainly Asian men.
When children attempted to expose the abuse, they were threatened with guns, warned that their loved ones would be raped and, in one case, doused in petrol and told they would be burnt alive.
Again with the “appalling!” That’s just not the right word for mind-shattering depravity, people. We’re talking about a pedophile sex-slave ring here. Incidentally, if you’re not a regular consumer of European media, they don’t have quite the same groups in mind as Americans when using the term “Asian.” There’s actually a bit of controversy over the BBC’s unwillingness to use even such a broad euphemism as “Asian” in its initial reports, referring to the perpetrators as merely “criminal gangs.”
    More from the Telegraph:
Prof Jay wrote: “No one knows the true scale of child sexual exploitation in Rotherham over the years. Our conservative estimate is that approximately 1,400 children were sexually exploited over the full inquiry period, from 1997 to 2013.
“It is hard to describe the appalling nature of the abuse that child victims suffered. They were raped by multiple perpetrators, trafficked to other towns and cities in the north of England, abducted, beaten, and intimidated.”
She added: “There were examples of children who had been doused in petrol and threatened with being set alight, threatened with guns, made to witness brutally violent rapes and threatened they would be next if they told anyone.”
Three “appallings” in one article! It’s time to take an icepick to British reserve and knock a few chips out of it, my good friends across the pond. Rape gangs that keep their underage victims in line by threatening to set them on fire merit something beyond stern disapproval. Member of the European Parliament Daniel Hannan gets it:
The point of the story is not that all Pakistani Muslims are potential villains – is it really necessary to say that? – but rather than multi-culti ideological blindness kept the British Left from dealing with an astonishingly large and severe problem for an incredibly long period of time. Some officials said they were expressly ordered to omit all references to the ethnic origin of pedophilia suspects – which, as you can imagine, made them rather difficult to identify, and kept responsible Pakistani community leaders out of the loop.
The UK Daily Mail has a choice quote from former Labour MP Denis MacShane which illustrates just how thick the ideological blinders were:
The former MP, who resigned as MP in 2012 over the expenses scandal, said ‘misplaced racial sensitivity’ prevented him from ‘burrowing into’ the widespread sexual abuse allegations and oppression of women in the Muslim community.
He made the comments after a damning child protection report found 1,400 children were sexually exploited in the town by gangs – most of them of Pakistani origin – between 1997 and 2013.
A group of ‘influential’ Pakistani councillors were accused in the report by a council officer of blocking attempts to tackle the abuse and also meddling in domestic abuse cases involving Asian women in the town.
Mr McShane said: ‘I think probably [I didn’t do as much as I could]. I think that I should have burrowed into it.
‘Perhaps yes, as a true Guardian reader, and liberal leftie, I suppose I didn’t want to raise that too hard.’
He also told the BBC: ‘I think there was a culture of not wanting to rock the multi-cultural community boat if I may put it like that.’
I’ll bet the crew at the Guardian is just thrilled to get dragged into this story as part of MacShane’s metaphor for left-wing idiocy. You won’t be surprised that MacShane goes on to portray himself as both an innocently clueless dupe, and the one guy who knew something was horribly wrong in Rotherham. British politicians may be a different breed from their American counterparts, but they’re not a different species.
We Yanks have also become quite familiar with massive government scandals that somehow fail to result in serious consequences for anyone involved, and even leave most of them comfortably seated at their desks. It’s almost surreal to hear the more sensible British politicians and analysts patiently explain why heads ought to be rolling over Rotherham. From the UK Telegraph:
Last night former children’s minister Tim Loughton told the BBC’s Newsnight that any social worker involved in the failings in Rotherham “has absolutely no place” in the care of children.
The Conservative MP said it was a “common theme” in sex abuse scandals that “nobody pays the consequences”.
“A social worker responsible for protecting vulnerable children, to turn a blind eye to a 12-year-old having sexual relationships with a stranger twice, three times her age and to say that was consensual sex and to do nothing about it – that person has absolutely no place in anything to do with vulnerable children,” he said.
The leader of the Lib Dem group on Sheffield City Council, Colin Ross, said “those responsible must be held to account”.
“Just like everyone else in South Yorkshire I was horrified to see the findings of the report and I’m deeply saddened that so many children were let down by the authorities that should have been protecting them,” he said.
Take note: Ross is “horrified,” not “appalled.” That’s more like it. He thinks Police and Crime Commissioner Shaun Wright should resign, as does a representative from the upstart UKIP party, Jane Collins:
Collins said: “How the chief executive of Rotherham Council, Martin Kimber, can sit there and glibly tell the world that not one person has been sacked, nor disciplined regarding this matter is beyond me. We are talking about children as young as 11 being trafficked, gang raped, beaten, plied with alcohol and drugs, and even threatened with being burned alive. My outrage at these events is simply beyond words.”
She said: “I categorically call for the resignation of everyone directly and indirectly involved in this case. The Labour Council stand accused of deliberately ignoring child sex abuse victims for 16 years. The apologies we have heard are totally insincere and go nowhere near repairing the damage done.
When this is considered something you have to argue about, you’ve got major systemic problems. The Telegraph notes that it’s a problem well beyond Rotherham as well, as “other similar high-profile cases followed in towns and cities including Rochdale, Derby, and Oxford.”
Of course every Western government wants to be seen as inclusive and tolerant. (Certain other parts of the world are significantly less interested in such virtues.) But there are some things that even the most sensitive government should be absolutely intolerant of.

    Update:
Even now, multi-culturalist blindness is obscuring parts of the Rotherham story. At none of the British publications linked above will you find any discussion of who the victims were, or how they were chosen by the “grooming” rape gangs. And as noted above, the gangs are invariably described as an “Asian” phenomenon, not Muslim. None of the UK media reports include even a single paragraph of context about what “grooming” is, or how it is extrapolated from Islamic doctrine. A December 2013 article at the American Thinker explains grooming as follows:
Why is this horrific global crime of child grooming a phenomenon that occurs mainly amongst Muslim immigrants from Islamic countries? As it turns out, this crime is religiously and politically motivated by Islamic doctrine, which calls for the capturing, raping, and prostituting of non-Muslim women and children after battle, as well as keeping or selling them as sex slaves. Mohammed himself was a slave-owner, and had sex slaves whom he captured in battle. He advised his male followers to imitate his example. In Islam, everything that Mohammed did must be emulated, as he is considered to be the exemplary leader, the perfect man.
Is it any wonder why many Muslims see nothing wrong with grooming or possessing sex slaves? Nor do they see anything immoral or illegal in committing other Islamic-motivated crimes, such as honour killing, female genital mutilation, mosque preachings that nourish homegrown terrorists, street prayer that blocks public streets, street killing of non-Muslims, suicide bombing or martyrdom, as well as homophobia and Jew-hatred.
All these acts are religiously mandated in the Koran and other Islamic doctrines that include the most venerated and reliable legal text Reliance of the Traveller. All acts are instances of Islamic or sharia law in action. There is no revulsion, shame, or guilt involved on the part of the perpetrator, because these actions are entirely acceptable and encouraged in Islam. They run contrary to Western culture, and go beyond merely disrupting the society’s public order and public peace that are essential for any civilized nation to survive.
As for the background of the victims, an interview with an anguished former youth worker from Rotherham published Wednesday at the Daily Mirror swerves dangerously close to letting the cat out of the bag:
She said it was common knowledge there was a “massive problem” with married Asian taxi drivers – some as old as 70 – who had been abusing young girls.
“It was one particular taxi firm in Rotherham and back then it was about 20 of the drivers involved. The firm is still going now,” she said.
“They would pick up the girls and then deliver them to various takeaways. The girls got a ride out of it, free food and were given clothes.
“The police were told about this time and time again – but nothing was ever done. I don’t remember one conviction.
“It was so well known we were banned from using this particular taxi firm to transport the youngsters.
“Workers at the children’s units were told to take down registration plates of who picked up the girls. These were all given to police but nothing happened
“Two youth workers I knew actually got so frustrated they trained as special police officers to try and catch the drivers themselves.”
The sad thing is these men thought the girls were trash. If they had been abusing Asian girls, we would probably have acted.
At this point, judging from newspaper and television reports, the British political and media establishment is coming to terms with the failure of its civic institutions, but they’re still not prepared to look clearly at the crime itself.

UK GOVT EMPLOYEE SENT TO 'DIVERSITY TRAINING' FOR CALLING PAKISTANI ROTHERHAM RAPISTS 'ASIAN MEN'

    by BREITBART LONDON
    1 Sep 2014, 1:21 PM PD

A researcher in Britain’s Home Office, which is responsible for domestic security and border control, was reprimanded and sent to a ‘two day ethnicity and diversity course’ for refering to the Pakistani rapists in Rotherham as ‘Asian’.

The worker, who was speaking to the BBC’s Panorama programme, noted that senior officials in the department told them to “never refer to that again” when they raised the issue of Muslim men grooming young white girls in Rotherham.

An image tweeted by Panorama’s Jane Bradley shows part of a legal document that claims that the researcher was told: “you must never refer to Asian men”.

“The other response [to raising the issue]”, they claimed, “was to book me on a 2 day ethnicity and diversity course to raise my awareness of ethnic issues”.

The revelation will add further fuel to the fire surrounding the Rotherham case, where it is alleged that civil servants, council staff, and local police turned a blind eye to the mass grooming and rape of 1400 children, some who were in government care facilities.

Last week saw the resignation of the Deputy Police Crime Commissioner, and the resignation from the Labour Party of the local police Chief Shaun Wright. But the latter refuses to give up his job proper, while the council’s Chief Executive is also clinging onto power. The pair together are paid over £300,000 a year in taxpayer money.

Since the news of the case broke, speculation has been rife that pandering to multiculturalism and tiptoeing around the fact that most of the rapists were Pakistani men led to government officials burying their heads in the sand over the issue.

So far over 12,000 people have called for Shaun Wright to resign in a petition.

Patricia Hewitt called for age of consent to be lowered to ten

Former Labour cabinet minister apologises for links to paedophile group in 1970s and admits she 'got it wrong'

Patricia Hewitt was forced to apologise after it was revealed that she had called for the age of sexual consent to be lowered to ten.

The document published in the former Labour cabinet minister’s name also called for incest to be legalised.

A National Council for Civil Liberties (NCCL) press release quoted in The Sun issued in Miss Hewitt’s sole name in Mach 1976 read: “NCCL proposes that the age of consent should be lowered to 14, with special provision for situations where the partners are close in age or where the consent of a child over ten can be proved.”

The document, which relates to an NCCL report on sexual law reformed continues: "The report argues that the crime of incest should be abolished.

“In our view, no benefit accrues to anyone by making incest a crime when committed between mutually consenting persons over the age of consent.”

Miss Hewitt, who was general secretary of the NCCL from 1974 to 1983 said: "I take responsibility for the mistakes we made. I got it wrong on PIE and I apologise for having done so.
Miss Hewitt finally broke her silence and apologised for her role in the scandal after The Telegraph asked her to explain why the NCCL of which she was general secretary had pledged its “protection and support” for prominent paedophile group the Paedophile Information Exchange (PIE).
Miss Hewitt said she had been out of the country for the past 12 days as the scandal over the links has been growing and apologised for her association with the group.
She said: “NCCL in the 1970s, along with many others, was naïve and wrong to accept PIE's claim to be a ‘campaigning and counselling organisation that ‘does not promote unlawful acts’.
"I should have urged the council to take strong measures to protect NCCL’s integrity from the activities of PIE members and sympathisers and I deeply regret not having done so."
Miss Hewitt later became press secretary to Labour leader Neil Kinnock. She was an MP for 13 years to 2010 and served as a Health Secretary in the last Labour government.
Her admissions place further pressure on Harriet Harman, the deputy Labour Leader who served as legal officer for the NCCL from 1976 to offer a full apology for her own links to the paedophile organisation.
Miss Hewitt’s frank admission that “got it wrong” contrasts sharply with Miss Harman’s insistence that she has “nothing to apologise for.”
Miss Harman has insisted that PIE was confronted by NCCL in 1976 and “pushed them to the margins.”
However pressure was building on her to offer a full apology over links. Rob Wilson, the Tory MP for Reading East, said: “It is right and welcome that Patricia Hewitt has apologised.
“It makes it hard to see why others involved would not wish to do the same.”

    Rotherham: A Quintessentially Liberal Scandal

Modern liberalism forces us to fight Islamist evil with one hand tied behind our backs, if we're permitted to fight it at all.

    by
    MIKE MCNALLY
    August 30, 2014 - 5:22 am

Imagine that in some Middle Eastern or African country 1,400 girls, some as young as 11, are abducted, gang-raped, beaten, threatened with death and trafficked by a Muslim gang. Some are doused with petrol, and threatened with being burned to death if they try to escape or tell anyone about their ordeal. They have been targeted because they are members of a different ethnic or religious group.

You don’t have to imagine the outcry that would ensue, because something similar to what I describe above (with the possible exception of the petrol dousing) happened only recently, when hundreds of schoolgirls were kidnapped by the Islamist Boko Haram group in Nigeria. The international outrage was unanimous, and when the Nigerian authorities appealed for help the response was swift, with President Obama sending troops and drones to hunt for the girls; meanwhile his wife and various celebrities lent their support to a facile and self-indulgent social media campaign to “Bring Back Our Girls.”

In the last few days we’ve learned that something of only a slightly lesser order of magnitude happened not in Africa but in Rotherham, a former steel and mill town in the north of England. The abuse continued for 16 years, and the perpetrators were not some elusive and heavily armed terrorist group who threatened to kill their victims at the first sign of a rescue attempt, but ordinary members of the local Muslim community.
Ending the girls’ ordeal should have been a relatively simple and risk-free matter. But not only did the authorities fail to stop the abuse and prosecute the offenders, they didn’t even try. They ignored pleas for help from the young victims and their families, and covered up their failure to act; and for good measure they arrested some of the victims and their families when they sought help.

Other than the starkly different locations and the fact that Boko Haram is a recognized terrorist group, the notable difference between the two episodes is that the Nigerian schoolgirls were black, and the Rotherham abuse victims were white.

The horrific details of the Rotherham “grooming” scandal were laid out in a report published by Professor Alexis Jay, a former senior social worker. Professor Jay wrote: “It is hard to describe the appalling nature of the abuse that child victims suffered. They were raped by multiple perpetrators, trafficked to other towns and cities in the north of England, abducted, beaten, and intimidated.”

Just five men have been jailed for abusing girls in Rotherham; police are currently dealing with 32 investigations into child sexual exploitation in the town.

Rotherham isn’t the UK’s first “grooming” scandal. I wrote about the first major instance to come to light, in Rochdale, around 30 miles from Rotherham, in 2012, and there have been several other cases, predominantly in deprived areas of northern towns where working class whites and immigrants live in close proximity. Rotherham is the most extensive case to emerge, but it’s thought the problem is even more widespread, with perhaps thousands more girls being abused by predominantly Muslim men of Pakistani extraction across Britain.

The main elements are the same in every case. The victims are vulnerable young white girls from poor backgrounds, and their assailants target them because they view them as worthless and immoral, and, in the words of former Labour Home Secretary Jack Straw, “easy meat“ (Straw was vilified by many on the left for speaking out about the extent of “grooming”).

In every case the same explanation for official inaction is offered: no one wanted to look too closely into complaints against “Asian” men because they were afraid of being accused of racism, and because they were concerned about the effect of arrests and prosecutions on “community cohesion.” The fact that most media reports still describe the offenders as “Asian” rather than as Pakistani Muslims is itself a disgraceful evasion, and one which the north of England’s Chinese, Hindu and Sikh communities no doubt resent.
The report, published by Professor Jay, a former senior social worker, says staff at Rotherham Council “described their nervousness about identifying the ethnic origins of perpetrators for fear of being thought racist; others remembered clear direction from their managers not to do so.”

This isn’t just a problem with political correctness or multiculturalism. It’s a failure of every component of the modern bureaucratic state, and every element of modern liberalism, from an education system that fails many poor youngsters and a welfare state that traps its dependents in poverty (both of which systems the current Conservative-led government are slowly reforming), to inertia and unaccountability of public sector bureaucracies, and the dynastic and often corrupt culture of the “Old Labour” political machines that dominate the UK’s northern cities.

One of the many disturbing aspects of the Rotherham scandal is that virtually no one has been held to account for the multiple failings that allowed the abuse to continue for so long. Many of those responsible have simply disappeared into the public sector morass, with some moving to other councils and some still involved in child “protection,” where they will continue to pull down their six-figure salaries before retiring on six-figure pensions.

The poster boy for these shameless public servants is Shaun Wright, a former Labour councillor who was responsible for children’s services in Rotherham between 2005 and 2010, when hundreds of children were being abused. He resigned from the council, only to continue failing the victims in his new post as police and crime commissioner. Wright has so far refused to resign from that position, insisting that he is “part of the solution.”

Then there’s Joyce Thacker, who presided over the last five years of failure as the head of children’s services at Rotherham Council. But Thacker wasn’t entirely idle as the abuse continued – this is the same Joyce Thacker who, in 2012, removed three children from their foster parents because they supported the conservative UK Independence Party, or UKIP.

It’s almost too appalling a notion to process: while girls were being physically abused under their noses, child protection officials were busy removing children from decent and loving foster parents because they viewed being brought up by conservatives as a form of psychological abuse.

The Rotherham victims were also failed by many of the police officers for whom Shaun Wright is now responsible. Officers didn’t take child sex exploitation seriously, and regarded child victims with as much contempt as their abusers did. In some of the few cases in which police did become involved, victims or their parents were arrested, rather than the offenders.

As in the U.S., Britain’s police are increasingly being transformed from protectors of the public to the enforcement division of the state (albeit without the military hardware), and in recent years UK police forces have been more preoccupied with prosecuting the vaguest suggestion of racism or homophobia on the part of white men than with tackling far worse crimes within sections of the Muslim community.

The scandals can also be blamed in part on the modern left’s contempt for the white working classes. Most of the time leftists do a good job of concealing it, affecting deep compassion for the “underclass” when it’s useful for demonizing conservative opponents and winning votes. Every now and then, however, the mask slips, as in 2010 when then Labour Prime Minister Gordon Brown described a voter in Rochdale, scene of the 2012 abuse scandal, as a “bigoted woman” after she expressed concerns over immigration. And in Rotherham it isn’t just a case of the mask slipping; the entire facade of big state liberalism has come crashing to the ground.

But there’s no escaping the fact that the defining characteristics of the Rotherham and other “grooming” scandals are the skin color of the victims, and the religious and culture backgrounds of the perpetrators. Compare these cases to pedophile rings of white men or sexual abuse in the Catholic Church, both of which are widely reported on by the media, and aggressively investigated and prosecuted by the authorities.

The “grooming” scandals are a direct and inevitable consequence of the left’s failed experiment with multiculturalism and mass immigration, and its obsession with political correctness and “diversity.” I make no apologies for trotting out this quote again, but a former advisor to Tony Blair, whose New Labour government imposed multiculturalism and political correctness on Britain with religious zeal starting in 1997, has admitted that Labour championed mass immigration, including from Pakistan, in order to “rub the Right’s nose in diversity.”

Liberals have tolerated and excused segregation, forced marriage and veiling in Britain’s Muslim communities in the name of “community cohesion.” They’ve fetishized diversity, and they’ve got more diversity than they could ever have imagined – after all, you won’t find a more diverse community than one in which a sizable minority of one ethnic group think it’s perfectly acceptable to rape and torture teenage girls, and everyone else thinks it isn’t.

With Islamic State terrorists on the march in Syria and Iraq, we in the West are again being told that the battle against Islamic extremism will be a “multi-generational” one. That’s true, but the West also needs to embark on another campaign that will be just as long and difficult — against the failed and dangerous forces of modern liberalism that force us to fight Islamist evil, whether in Tikrit or Rotherham, with one hand tied behind our backs, if we’re permitted to fight it at all.

It’s too much to expect that liberalism will be chastised by its latest setback, but at the very least the progressive ideas that created the conditions for the Rotherham scandal should be thoroughly discredited. More pressingly, every one of the hundreds of leftist ideologues and statist functionaries responsible for Rotherham should be named and shamed, and their careers and reputations ruined as thoroughly as the young lives of the girls they failed.
