Roundups and tips to avoid ICE

There is a publication is San Diego called Brazilian Pacific Times,
done by and for the Brazilian community there. I grabbed one
while exiting a restaurant and this is its September editorial:

nunca antes e aprendendo muitas pessoas.
Pessoas conhecidas no nosso dia,

My translation below: (to the best of my knowledge and time constraint.
I also assume the officers in question are from ICE)

AUNT MIMI - The immigration laws are certainly changing. While many
wait to see if the rumors about a possible amnesty will come true,
others who have their petitions pending are worried because it seems
that ICE is verifying the applications with more scrutinity. But what is
really happening is a total desperation in the Brazilian community
because AUNT MIMI, or in other words: ICE Officers in San Diego
are doing sweeps as never before and rounding up lots of people.
According to a statement given to this newspaper by a person who
asked not to be identified, it was reported that the officers showed up
in the middle of the night at her apartment and arrested everybody
who did not have proper identification.
People we know in our everyday were stopped by officers in their
workplace, such as restaurants, and taken in for interrogations.
Without a doubt, the Brazilians who live here are all frightened and
thinking about going home. They dont want to run the risk of being
    arrested and deported.
This reporter, after speaking to one of those officers, learned to his
surprise that eighty percent of the investigations and raids are
cases of someone turning others in after him or her being arrested.
The best way to avoid this situation is to remain quiet and not to engage
in conversations with many people. Also avoid to stay in houses in which
have a history of raids. If one maintains a calm profile and does not
get involved with many things, I think that one is free of trouble from
    AUNT MIMI.

I sure like that word--DESPERATION. Hope you all have heart burn curtesy of the USA.

Considering that we aren't allowed to TORTURE, they should be A-OK when all is said and done.

Without a doubt, the Brazilians who live here are all frightened and

Now........THIS is GREAT news!! See Ya

Nothing like living on the run, eh?

Just living life like the criminals they are, hiding from the police and government.
