There are 12 to 20 million illegal aliens currently in the U.S. Twelve million illegal aliens are greater than the population of 44 states. This situation certainly meets the dictionary definition of invasion. I think it would be more accurate to describe what's happening to this country as colonization.

The American Heritage Science Dictionary defines 'colonization' as "The spreading of a species into a new habitat. For example, flying insects and birds are often the first animal species to initiate colonization of barren islands newly formed by vulcanism or falling water levels. The first plant species to colonize such islands are often transported there as airborne seeds or through the droppings of birds."

The part about "insects" and "droppings of birds" is interesting. Sorry, sorry...just couldn't resist comment on that. I could go on, but, well, 'nuff said.
