Republican Who Called Trump ‘A Fraud’ Rumored For Secretary Of State Post

"... a view of the world that’s rooted in reality.”

    November 17, 2016 at 4:10pm

According to a source close to President-elect Donald Trump, former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney is among those being considered for Trump’s Secretary of State position.

The source, who claimed direct knowledge of Trump’s thinking, told NBC News that Romney will meet with Trump this weekend to discuss the position.

Word broke Thursday that Romney was in the running for a cabinet position, but at the time, details were unclear about the specific post. If true, the rumor would come as a surprise to many.

Romney and Trump have something of a history in the political realm, as the former the former Massachusetts governor called Trump “a phony” and “a fraud” in March.

Trump himself is not innocent of name-calling, as he called Romney a “loser,” and said that Romney would have “dropped to his knees” for Trump’s endorsement in 2012.

Trump has also said that Romney “choked like a dog” during his 2012 presidential campaign against President Barack Obama.

The secretary of state is the president’s senior adviser on U.S. foreign policy and is responsible for a fair amount of negotiation in regards to treaties and agreements.

Romney, hailed by some as a “foreign policy prophet,” has drawn kudos for his insight on issues and threats facing the United States and the world at large. During his 2012 presidential campaign, he saw Russian president Vladimir Putin as a threat to peace, insisted that radical Islam was spreading and warned that Iraq was at risk without American troops to stabilize it.

During a debate with President Barack Obama, Romney proclaimed that Russia was the largest threat facing the country, a prediction that drew laughs at the time but morphed into a heated issue during the 2016 election.

Romney has leveled harsh criticisms at the foreign policies of the Obama administration. Current Secretary of State John Kerry and his predecessor, Hillary Clinton, have been in the cross hairs for much of Romney’s onslaught. In 2015, Romney gave a presentation to more than 200 corporate CEOs and other attendees of his annual ideas festival about what he determined to be “The Most Consequential Obama Foreign Policy Mistakes.”

Romney highlighted 20 specific mistakes, including Obama’s Middle East “apology tour,” the president’s lack of support for Iran’s green revolution and the administration’s infamous “reset” with Russia.

Romney keyed on Clinton specifically, saying, “she was everywhere” but made “mistake after mistake after mistake.”

Amid terror threats and the beheadings of Americans in the Middle East, combined with Russia’s ominous doings and a controversial nuclear deal with Iran, foreign policy dexterity may be of more importance than ever. The comments of one former Romney adviser suggests the Republican has the confidence of many in regards to the secretary of state position.

“Romney was right about a lot of this stuff. But I don’t see it as vindication,” said the former adviser. “I think it’s a demonstration that he has a view of the world that’s rooted in reality.”

Others reportedly under consideration for the secretary of state position include former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley. Another candidate is Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Corker, who told CNBC on Wednesday he’s “in the mix” for the job.

No, Romney didn't stop during the primary, he went on and on and on and tried to cost our party and our country an election of Donald Trump. Romney isn't stupid, so he knew the consequences of his actions would mean election of a DemoQuack Crook, Amnesty and TPP for the United States, which to many of US would be the end of our country.

Romney wasn't just a sore loser, name-caller against Trump, he was a Traitor to our country.

We don't want any more Traitors in DC. Period. We want to Drain the Swamp not replace one gator for another.

Oh he's a total and complete Looney Tune at this point. His mind and emotions are completely shot. The man was either never what we thought he was or his jealousy of Trump has eaten his brain completely up.
