From Lou Dobbs tonight:

State legislatures are considering more than 400 proposals and
bills that deal with illegal immigration, reflecting the
exasperation of many local officials with Congress' total
failure to take action on the issue. We’ll tell you where some
of that legislation stands tonight.

But it’s not only states dealing with the problem of illegal
immigration – towns and cities are acting as well. Voters in
Herndon, Virginia have unseated the town’s mayor and two Town
Council members who supported a bitterly debated day-labor
center for immigrant workers. This marked the first electoral
contest that emerged as a mini-referendum on the turbulent
national issue of illegal immigration.

And Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio announced that he’ll
begin patrolling the country’s desert areas and main roadways
with a volunteer posse as a part of an operation to curb the
flow of illegal immigrants entering the county.

Edward Juarez, president of the International Immigrants
Foundation, sits down with Lou tonight to tell us why the
government could easily round up the millions of illegal aliens
in the United States but chooses not to do so
