    Check out Congress.org

Type in your zip and read some of the letters people are writing to their senators in response to S. 1348. Like 98% are against this bill.

Look at this one sent to Senator Feinstein:

    To:
    Sen. Dianne Feinstein

    June 11, 2007

I am utterly disgusted with your recent remarks that people who are calling in asking you to oppose senate bill 1348 are bigots and racists! YOU are the racist and traitor by not opposing this bill!

The fact is, over 70% of Americans know this bill is bad for this country and for them. Do not try to sell it one way or another. We are smart enough to read through the document and making our own decision on this matter.

The fact that you are trying to sell this piece of crap bill just lets all of us know that you do not support America or American citizens!

WE DONT need another immigration bill! Enforce the current laws!

    Secure the border.
    Enforce our laws.
Go after employeers who hire illegals.

That is all you need to do! You do not need another bill!

I cannot wait to vote you out of office in the next election. You are losing MILLIONS of votes by supporting this bill! Think I am kidding? Look at Senator Reid and Senator McCains ratings fall through the floor because of their support this bill!

Anyone who supports this this bill is committing political suicide.
    Which path will you take?

    A very angr!

    san diego , CA
Talk about hitting driving the point home.

This just shows you how upset Americans are that our leaders are not listening to us.

    Excellent letter.

What is the zip for DiFi?

She claims that she is receiving "racist" and "hate" mail when we all know that she is simply receiving mail from people who disagree with her and who don't want amnesty.

I want to write her something along these lines:

    Dear Senator Feinstein,

This is NOT a racist message or hate mail, so please don't claim that it is. I simply want to let you know that I disagree with you and with S. 1348.
We do NOT need an immigration bill! Enforce the current laws!

Here's a simple, fair, cheap and effective plan:

    (1) Secure the border with the wall and more patrols (already law)
    (2) Fine employers who hire illegals (already law)
    (3) Enforce the other existing immigration laws
    (4) Provide job programs for Americans
    (5) Only use guestworkers as a last resort and only if there is a true labor shortage.
    (6) Stop all welfare for illegals; force employers to provide full medical coverage for all their guestworkers

This is all you need to do! We do not need or want S. 1348 or any other bill!

Please keep the pressure on the "honorable" Sen. Feinstein..I email her and just get a standard form letter...she is pretty much clueless as to what californians are going thru here At least My Congressman Calvert is on the same page as us! Here is a copy of an email I just recieved from him:

    Dear Friends,

    Amnesty – Wrong for America

Many of you have read about the possibility of immigration legislation passing Congress with the support of the President. Two bills, one introduced by Reps. Gutierrez (D-IL) and Flake (R-AZ) and another by Senator Reid (D-NV) have been touted as comprehensive immigration bills that do not provide amnesty. Despite the window-dressing, both bills provide a path to citizenship for those illegally in the United States ahead of those waiting in line legally. I consider this to be amnesty and will not support either of the House or Senate bill, or any legislation that provides for amnesty.

In addition to the amnesty provision for the 12 million illegal immigrants in the country, the Flake-Gutierrez bill also creates another visa category that would allow 400,000 more people into the United States annually. This increase would be in addition to the approximately 1 million people currently allowed into the U.S. every year. Those 400,000 immigrants would be allowed to pursue citizenship which means they would also be allowed to bring in family members. Our country’s health, education, criminal justice and Medicare systems cannot sustain the explosion of population growth this bill allows.

    Undermining What Works…

Even more egregiously, the bill would repeal the Basic Pilot Program, which I created in 1996 for voluntary employment verification of newly hired employees. The legislation would start over with a new verification system that would take time and money to implement rather than build upon the successful employment verification system that exists through the Basic Pilot Program.

    The Calvert Approach…

The Basic Pilot program involves verification checks of the Social Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security databases of newly hired employees, regardless of citizenship. The Basic Pilot Program has been used by over 15,000 employers nationwide and is available in all 50 states.

The Employment Eligibility Verification System, H.R. 19, which I introduced on January 4, 2007, would gradually make the Basic Pilot Program mandatory for all employers over seven years. Highlights of the bill include:

    · The name would change from the Basic Pilot program to the Employment Eligibility Verification System (EEVS).
    · The authorization for the current system expires in 2008; H.R. 19 would extend it indefinitely.
    · H.R. 19 would authorize all necessary funding for EEVS.
    · H.R. 19 would require employers to use the program, based on a phased-in timeline. The timeline would require the largest companies to be compliant within one year of enactment. The smallest companies would have seven years to become compliant.

Despite efforts to derail employment verification, the Basic Pilot Program is currently the only tool for employers to check the veracity of information on documents presented by new employees. I will fight any attempt to repeal Basic Pilot. Until we cut off the magnet of jobs through employment verification, we will never truly have control of the illegal immigration problem.

In addition to employment verification, Congress must continue to fund the border fence and more border patrol agents. Last month, I visited the U.S.-Mexico border and inspected the fence. Progress is being made on the 370 miles of construction required by the end of 2008. I was impressed by the California National Guard who are assisting the U.S. Border Patrol and dramatically improving apprehension rates on the border. I support their mission on the border and will work with my colleagues to extend the mission as long as the Border Patrol needs their assistance.

Other bills I have co-sponsored in Congress would close the loophole in the Patriot Act which allows illegal immigrants to obtain credit cards and a bill that would make DUI convictions a deportable offense for illegal immigrants.

I welcome your input as I understand this is an issue that is a priority for the constituents of the 44th Congressional District of California.

    Sincerely,

    KEN CALVERT
    Member of Congress

He also has a few poll questions...

You know where I stand on illegal immigration - I invite you to tell me your position and what you consider to be “amnesty.â€
