Senior GOP Officials Exploring Options if Trump Drops Out
Senior GOP Officials Exploring Options if Trump Drops Out
By JONATHAN KARL1 hour ago Good Morning America
Republican officials are exploring how to handle a scenario that would be unthinkable in a normal election year: What would happen if the party's presidential nominee dropped out?
ABC News has learned that senior party officials are so frustrated — and confused — by Donald Trump's erratic behavior that they are exploring how to replace him on the ballot if he drops out.
So how would it work?
First, Trump would have to voluntarily exit the race. Officials say there is no mechanism for forcing him to withdraw his nomination. (Trump has not given any indications that he no longer wants to be his party's nominee.)
Then it would be up to the 168 members of the Republican National Committee to choose a successor, though the process is complicated.

Senior GOP Officials Exploring Options if Trump Drops Out (ABC News)
One Republican legal expert has advised party officials that, for practical reasons, Trump would have to drop out by early September to give the party enough time to choose his replacement and get the next nominee's name on the ballot in enough states to win.
Here is what the RNC's bylaws say about filling a vacancy on a presidential ticket:
Rule No. 9: Filling Vacancies in Nominations
(a) The Republican National Committee is hereby authorized and empowered to fill any and all vacancies which may occur by reason of death, declination or otherwise of the Republican candidate for president of the United States or the Republican candidate for vice president of the United States, as nominated by the national convention, or the Republican National Committee may reconvene the national convention for the purpose of filling any such vacancies.
(b) In voting under this rule, the Republican National Committee members representing any state shall be entitled to cast the same number of votes as said state was entitled to cast at the national convention.
(c) In the event that the members of the Republican National Committee from any state shall not be in agreement in the casting of votes hereunder, the votes of such state shall be divided equally, including fractional votes, among the members of the Republican National Committee present or voting by proxy.
(d) No candidate shall be chosen to fill any such vacancy except upon receiving a majority of the votes entitled to be cast in the election.

How do you know? He has practically done everything he could to sabotage his own campaign. He has done all the damage himself to himself, no one else...not even the press. He buried his campaign with that judge for the fourth time and now has buried it again. Nobody knows what he really wants except for him. I can't even imagine how controversial his presidency might be based on his campaign right now. He does not have the capacity to learn from his mistakes and it is very possible he really doesn't even know what he is doing at this point.

The so called "intervention" is likely to include attempts to force him to endorse Ryan and McCain. Newt is not the best friend when he criticizes him so much in the media.
It really is a sordid game. Why endorse if you don't like them.Matthew 19:26
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

Newt really needs to learn how to be a supporter or just shut up. There is no "intervention". People who really know Trump know he won't tolerate that. He's his own man. He calls the shots. Same with all the other fair-weathers. People who really want Trump to win shouldn't do or say anything that would hurt him or give the media something to buzz about.
Some people act like political novices when it comes to Trump, I guess because they aren't used to a real person running for President so they're confused and don't know how to behave.A Nation Without Borders Is Not A Nation - Ronald Reagan

I truly believe it. Because there is nothing to scrutinize. I support his statements. I support his tactics. I support his strategy. I support his policies on trade, immigration, infrastructure, the wall, foreign policy, the Russians, NATO, etc., etc. There are only 2 issues I had disagreement with, which I set aside months ago, the FairTax and I'm Pro-Choice instead of Pro-Life. I support his character. I support his motives. I support everything about him, and maybe he'll come around and help FairTax Republicans pass the FairTax during his first term. He said he liked the FairTax, but thought the tax cuts would be faster, maybe he's right on the timing.
I support him defending himself against phony attackers like the Khans. I support him withholding endorsement of Paul Ryan and giving good press and appreciation to Paul Nehlen. I support him withholding endorsement of John McCain, giving Kelli Ward some air. Trump remembers what McCain did to the POW's and MIA's and other Veterans after Vietnam. He may also remember and know how McCain used his influence to cheat General Lavelle.
So please tell me in direct speak what exactly it is that you think Trump has done to "sabotage his own campaign"? I agree with everything he's said and done.A Nation Without Borders Is Not A Nation - Ronald Reagan
