    Senator Webb

I spoke with a staffer from one of his regional offices, and because Webb's amendment didn't pass, he issued a statement that he'd have a hard time supporting this bill. So, it's not definite, but looking like he's going in the right direction (let's hope that he votes no to cloture.)

I saw Webb on C-SPAN2 this morning. He wants to give amnesty to illegal aliens, but only ones that have been in the country more than 4 years.

The "roots" or "community ties" of 4 years or more is what Webb's amendment, S.A.1313, was about. That Amendment was tabled/killed.

Webb pointed out that the amnesty legislation that passed the Senate last year was tougher than his amendment - in 2006, only illegal aliens that arrived over five years ago were to be given legal status. I believe he current legislation which Kyl supports gives them amnesty if they arrived before January. Even if Webb does vote against cloture, he is unreliable. Hutchison was also on talking about how much she supported the guest worker program.
