Arizona’s Sheriff Joe Arpaio conducted a press conference Thursday afternoon in Phoenix, where he announced the findings of his five-year investigation into the validity of Barack Obama’s birth certificate.
The sheriff said his detectives have concluded that the birth certificate Obama released is a fake document.
Mike Zullo, the lead investigator in the case, gave a video presentation alleging that the birth certificate document shows “9 points of forgery.”
He alleged that a real document was used, then alterations were made. In the presentation, they showed the original document that investigators alleged was used to create Obama’s “birth certificate.” Experts from around the world were consulted, Zullo said, adding, “It’s a fake and this carries federal penalties.”
Sheriff Joe said the investigation will be turned over to the (new) President and Congress next month, and he urged Congress to hold hearings on the matter that would be open to the public.
He said the investigation was not about where Obama was born – it was about the validity of the document itself.

More From 12News:
The video was a side-by-side comparison of the documents, superimposing portions of the the second certificate on the Obama certificate. The video argued that the angles of stamps on the two documents were too perfectly matched.
Zullo then described purchasing a printer and uploading software to the printer in an effort to mimic what he and his team believed had happened in what they claimed was the fabrication of the Obama certificate.
Zullo and Arpaio said their investigation included determinations by two forensic examiners that the document was inauthentic.
Zullo also detailed his trip to Hawaii for documents to confirm the authenticity of the Obama birth certificate, saying technicalities of Hawaii law dictated
that validations provided by state officials had covered the information in the certificate rather than the certificate itself.
ABC News reported on the press conference, calling it an “already debunked” issue:
