    Sometimes you just have to shake your head and wonder at things that just don't seem to make sense. You then have to ask who makes these decisions. Poor decisions and bad behavior seem to be the flavor of the day. Here are a few examples.

    Federal Department of Transportation officials considered requiring all operators of farm equipment and off-road trucks comply with Over-the-Road licensing requirements. That meant anyone operating a tractor would need a commercial drivers license (CDL). How about garden tractors? Anyway, there was enough outcry that they abandoned that.

    The EPA is now proposing stricter emissions controls on larger trucks. They want these trucks to have the same emissions standards as passenger cars. On a lighter note, the U.S. has paved the way for Mexican trucks to enter the U.S. without onerous customs inspections. This means these trucks without the stricter emissions will be polluting our air at a much greater rate than their U.S. counterparts.

    Obama's Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack believes the food stamp program is an economic stimulus. Worse, Press Secretary Jay Carney (not to be confused with carnival) made the claim that unemployment checks create jobs.

    We are spending billions in a war on foreign soils against terrorism. The validity of that war can be argued in another forum. We are spending billions to fight terror abroad, and billions more on foreign aid to despots, but we can't seem to protect our own borders.
