Trump Names Steve Bannon as White House Chief Strategist and Reince Priebus as Chief of Staff

President-elect Donald Trump announced on Sunday that Stephen K. Bannon will be the White House Chief Strategist and Senior Counselor while Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus will serve as White House Chief of Staff.

“Bannon and Priebus will continue the effective leadership team they formed during the campaign, working as equal partners to transform the federal government, making it much more efficient, effective and productive,” stated a press release from Trump’s transition team on Sunday. “Bannon and Priebus will also work together with Vice President-elect Mike Pence to help lead the transition process in the run-up to Inauguration Day.”

“I am thrilled to have my very successful team continue with me in leading our country,” stated President-elect Trump per the press release. “Steve and Reince are highly qualified leaders who worked well together on our campaign and led us to a historic victory. Now I will have them both with me in the White House as we work to make America great again.”

Bannon responded to the position, saying, “I want to thank President-elect Trump for the opportunity to work with Reince in driving the agenda of the Trump Administration.”

“We had a very successful partnership on the campaign, one that led to victory,” Bannon added. “We will have that same partnership in working to help President-elect Trump achieve his agenda.”

“It is truly an honor to join President-elect Trump in the White House as his Chief of Staff,” Priebus stated of the annoucement. “I am very grateful to the President-elect for this opportunity to serve him and this nation as we work to create an economy that works for everyone, secure our borders, repeal and replace Obamacare and destroy radical Islamic terrorism. He will be a great President for all Americans.”

Paul Ryan on Sunday said he has “no concerns” about President-elect Donald Trump hiring one of the speaker’s longtime critics as his chief of staff: Breitbart chief Steve Bannon.

“I’ve never met the guy,” Ryan said on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “I don’t know Steve Bannon so I have no concerns. I trust Donald’s judgment. I think he will pick who will best serve him, and I’m sure we will work well with whomever his chief of staff is.”

Bannon, the executive chairman of Breitbart who joined Trump’s campaign in August as CEO, is believed to be one of two finalists for the top White House post. The other is Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus, a close Ryan ally and fellow Wisconsinite. Trump is expected to announce his chief of staff within days.

The best frame of reference for people to filter this decision is the VP selection process when Mr. Trump selected Governor Mike Pence. A similar set of decision making principles apply. WARNING – new words again.






Traditionally (<– key word) the White House Chief of Staff is the liaison between the President and the various affiliated professional political types who wish to engage with the President.
However, Donald Trump is his own organizational person.

Little research and analysis has ever been given to how small the Trump circle is despite his massive private sector business operations. This is one of those aspects entirely obvious to those who know the private sector, yet brutally overlooked by those talking heads entrenched in the beltway.

The Trump organization is massive in scope and scale, yet he ran the entire operation with only a few very tight inner-circle influences. He is able to do this because Trump is simply a master of complex organizational dynamics. The granules are in charge of the granular, and yet directly connected to the top of the pyramid.

Trump’s operational executive model is very familiar to some who understand the most effective construct within massive organizations.
The optical way of thinking about it is this:

Turn the traditional organizational pyramid upside down; now ask yourself which direction do the natural granules flow…

Donald Trump lives by the “how to make a monkey jump” credo. It’s simply how he’s able to enjoy life and simultaneously have a massive business empire.
As an intensely effective leader Donald Trump spends time making sure: A.) the right person is in charge of the right system – the person closest to the work, and B.) once established Trump then focuses energy on keeping the system free of clogs.

You cannot consider the Trump selections -for any position- in the same frame of reference (a top down power structure) traditionally held. Trump inverts the power structure and empowers the granular to think, act and operate. Trump will never accept a subordinate’s monkey, and saves himself only for the gorilla issues:

• “Hey Mr. Trump, I’ve got a problem with X”
• Trump: “What do you think you ought to do about it”?…
• “I dunno, – what should I do”…
• Trump: “what do you think you could do”?…
• “But I’m not the boss, you are – what should I do”?…
• Trump: “if you were the boss what would you do”?…

President Trump is setting up Reince Priebus to be the Monkey interception vehicle. This allows President Trump to focus the important intellectual thoughts toward the gorilla issues and his own personal objectives.
We stated on election night that Trump hugging Priebus was strategically brilliant, because this outcome was intensely predictable.

The real circle of important influential people are those in Trump’s gorilla circle. The monkey business, is downstream from the gorilla circle.

Steve Bannon, US president-elect Donald J. Trump’s newly appointed chief strategist and senior counsel, is a former Goldman Sachs banker and investor in television shows, but it was his influence shaping Breitbart News that first got him involved in Trump’s campaign.


The site is often described as “alt-right,” a euphemism for a male white supremacist point of view. Under Bannon, a self-proclaimed “Leninist” who once said he wants to “destroy the state,” it has published incendiary and sometimes factually incorrect articles and opinion columns targeting women, immigrants, minorities, gays, and overweight people. It contains a section called “Black Crime,” for example, and one of its star writers, Milo Yiannopoulous, was thrown off of Twitter earlier this year after inciting his followers to harass Ghostbusters actor Leslie Jones with racist and sexist tweets.


Here’s a sample of Breitbart’s work, with actual headlines followed by excerpts from the articles:

• “Why Equality and Diversity Departments Should Only Hire Rich, Straight White Men: When you allow identity politics to run rampant and you’re too terrified to question someone just because they have a certain skin colour, gender or sexual orientation, you create monsters.”

• “The Solution to Online ‘Harassment’ Is Simple: Women Should Log Off: Women are—and you won’t hear this anywhere else—screwing up the internet for men by invading every space we have online and ruining it.”
• “Donald Trump Would Be the Real First Black President: As president, he wants to boost American manufacturing jobs, bringing factories back from overseas. Black Americans have traditionally flocked to such jobs…”
• “Does Feminism Make Women Ugly? Muscle mass and distribution can shift and hair grows faster and more thickly.”
• “Gabby Giffords: The Gun Control Movement’s Human Shield:Background checks don’t work, and Giffords’ attacker is living proof of that.”

In recent years Breitbart and another Bannon-backed company, a think tank called the Government Accountability Institute, have specialized in sowing negative stories about the Clintons that eventually get picked up by mainstream media, including the New York Times, as Bannon explained to Bloomberg last year. That strategy has proven even more effective than Brietbart writing such articles on its own, as an analyst noted in the same Bloomberg article. “If you were trying to create doubt and qualms about [Hillary Clinton] among progressives, the Times is the place to do it… the Times is the perfect host body for the virus.”


Outside of what his media company writes, Bannon’s personal conduct has come under the spotlight as he became more prominent in the campaign.

His ex-wife said in an earlier court declaration that Bannon objected to a school their twin girls were attending because of the number of Jewish students there. He “doesn’t like the way they raise their kids to be ‘whiny brats’ and… he didn’t want the girls going to school with Jews,” she said. Former employee Ben Shapiro called him “a smarter version of Trump” and a “vindictive, nasty figure, infamous for verbally abusing supposed friends and threatening enemies.”
