Small Success in Dallas: Spanish Phrase Billboard Removed

Billboard advertisement in Dallas metro area with Spanish removed.

Several months ago, I wrote about a McDonald's advertisement with a phrase prominently included in Spanish which appreared on a double billboard at the corner of FM 423 and Main Street in Frisco, TX (Dallas metro area)., with information about how to contact the company.

A number of ALIPACERS posted that they had called McDonald's about it, and before long this advertisement was removed. However, it was shortly replaced by an advertisment, almost entirely in Spanish, for a telephone service, so I added this information.

I cannot find the original thread, but I now am pleased to announce that:

    1) The entire bottom portion of the billboard since has been removed to make way for a building rennovation nearby; and,

    2) The top portion--now a much more modern "rotating" display of advertisments-- is entirely in English. And this includes an attractive advertisement for tourism to Mexico!

So evidently making one's voice heard (politely but persistently) can help, even in an area where the Mexican culture is so much a part of the state's history as Texas.

Thank you for speaking out and doing the right thing for all Americans.

Things like this remind me of some very good friends I have that I've met at different times in my life.

All very patriotic Americans of Mexican heritage, and all totally unknown to each other.

The pro-illegal alien folks haven't heard anything until they've encountered any single one of these friends of mine.

    Talk about speaking their language!

And there is usually some yelling, ALWAYS started by the pro-illegal alien people.

Basically, the pro-illegal alien anti-American cannot handle being cut down to size by one of their own, who knows the culture, and can literally repeat back to them exactly what they're doing ILLEGALLY, how they're doing it ILLEGALLY, and what will happen to them if they don't stop quickly and do the right thing.

Nothing like a patriotic American of Mexican heritage who is American FIRST, with their heritage and race following.

    I love it.

I did not mean to give the impression that I personally am of Mexican-American heritage, although there certainly are many patriotic Ameicans in Texas who are. I meant that, because of its own unique state history, it can be easier for those who wish to to present Spanish as "native" to Texas (and the rest of the Southwest) than in the rest of the nation. In fact, the League of Latin American Citizens (LULAC), now evidently almost entirely a political organization, began in San Antonio as a group of businessmen of Latin American descent who wished to promote their interests and assimiliation into the business community at large; orginally, it was required that English be spoken at all meetings of LULAC.
