Leftist billionaire George Soros has been pouring big money into a Texas district attorney race as part of his effort to install extremist prosecutors across America who will protect lawless so-called sanctuary cities that obstruct the enforcement of federal immigration law.

We already knew that pressure groups funded by Soros are litigating to keep U.S. ports-of-entry wide open to terrorists and other people who hate America. And leftist propaganda shops like the Brennan Center for Justice, which has taken in about $23 million from Soros since 2000, have churned out reports arguing that state judicial systems need to be reshaped to more closely follow the Left’s agenda.

Soros is using his vast fortune in an attempt to radicalize local prosecutors’ offices in part because he wants to block U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) from functioning. The self-styled philosopher wants to cripple law enforcement in order to advance the radical abstraction known as social justice that simplistically breaks the world down into race, class, and sex. Radicals claim that American laws and institutions are corrupt and that these systems protect, for example, wealthy, white, native-born, non-disabled males at the expense of everyone else. In this instance, U.S. immigration law is inherently unfair to illegal aliens, or so the reasoning goes.

Soros’s current target is Bexar County, Texas, District Attorney Nico LaHood, Peter Hasson reports in the Daily Caller. LaHood is a Democrat who oppose sanctuary cities and describes himself as “a conservative guy.”

Bexar County, which includes San Antonio, is the fourth most-populous county in Texas. Knocking off LaHood would be a significant step forward for the Soros agenda.

Soros has already blown through around $70,000 supporting LaHood’s primary opponent, Joe Gonzales, by way of Texas Justice & Public Safety, a political action committee or PAC. The sum includes more than $30,000 devoted to mailers attacking LaHood as “bigoted,”
“racist,” and “Islamophobic” in both the English and Spanish languages.

LaHood countered by running an ad titled “Your DA’s Office is Not For Sale.”

“We know George Soros is a billionaire who has purchased at least 10 other district attorneys’ offices around the country, not to mention other political positions,” LaHood said in the ad.

LaHood has an unusual background for a prosecutor. He was arrested in 1994 for selling $3,600 worth of a controlled substance – 200 Ecstasy pills – to undercover police. He pled guilty “and was given deferred adjudication, a probated $1,000 fine and ordered to perform 320 hours of community service,” according to the San Antonio Express-News.

But the one-time drug dealer turned his life around, graduated from law school, and began practicing as an attorney. He is now a born-again Christian.

Although leftists like Soros pride themselves on supporting ex-cons and so-called people of color like LaHood, a Latino, the district attorney has committed some unpardonable sins in the eyes of left-wingers.

Exhibit A: As noted above, LaHood believes U.S. immigration law should be enforced and is opposed to sanctuary cities. He was pleased with Gov. Greg Abbott, a Republican, when he signed a law banning sanctuary jurisdictions in Texas. “I do not support sanctuary cities,” LaHood said. “I understand the spirit of what the governor was trying to do, and I appreciate it.”

Exhibit B: LaHood’s views on Islam, which he calls “a horrifically violent religion,” are utterly reasonable, which is an instant deal-breaker for leftists. “Islam is basically a political system wrapped in a religion,” he said. “This has nothing to do with whether you’re a Democrat or a Republican or independent or anything in between. It has to do with American values and what’s acceptable in our country or not, period.”

“I don’t get into discussions about Muslims because I have some very, very — and I want to emphasize this — very good friends that wear the label of a Muslim,” has said. “But they don’t follow the tenets or the principle of Islam, more importantly Sharia Law, because they’ve been Americanized.” Terrorists “are truly, militantly following what the text tells them to do.”

Exhibit C: he’s not a Trump-hater. He describes himself as “a conservative guy,” and criticizes the president in only the mildest terms.

And this is why ALL illegal aliens and Federal immigration issues should go through Federal Tent City on Federal Land with a panel of Federal Judges...like a court martial type setting.

They can review the cases and immediately deport them from there. Or they serve time in a tent with NO amenities!

All illegals, visa overstays and non-citizen criminals should go directly to an Immigration Penal Facility. Get them out of the local and State jurisdiction.

Phila.'s DA created a new 'immigration counsel' position to safeguard immigrant rights

Krasner said the creation of this new immigration counsel position assures immigrants that they can use the justice system without expecting “disproportionate consequences,” such as deportation, because of their status. The idea is not to provide a loophole for people to get away with crimes, the Associated Press reported.
Krasner’s victory in last year's election for Philadelphia’s new DA was called a “seismic change” for the city. During the race, Krasner vowed to stop President Donald Trump’s immigration agenda.

Former immigration attorney Caleb U. Arnold was named to the position of immigration counsel. Arnold, who uses gender-neutral pronouns, will be responsible for building benign relationships with immigrant communities and for ensuring the safety of witnesses and victims in the process.

Arnold will work with prosecutors on minimizing the impact of criminal convictions on immigration status, especially for those who are low-level offenders with no significant threat to the city, according to Philadelphia Magazine.

Krasner's proposal was made in hopes to strengthen fair treatment, he said to the Associated Press.

“Together, will ensure that all people are treated fairly by the justice system regardless of their immigration status. This is also part of our overall effort to protect the most vulnerable and ensure they are able to participate as witnesses or complainants in the criminal justice system.”

Krasner’s idea to establish immigration counsel derived from a similar policy implemented in Brooklyn last year by District Attorney Eric Gonzalez. Gonzalez reported in a statement to the Associated Press that 200 cases have been resolved to reach “immigration-neutral outcomes."

“In the face of misguided federal policies, we need more local prosecutors who are willing to take a stand and do what’s right,” Gonzalez said, according to the Associated Press.

Krasner's progressive agenda and strong opinions on various issues had been heatedly discussed at Penn. Some expressed concern over what some call Krasner's "anti-police" position, while others endorsed Krasner as a candidate.
Supporters of Krasner believed that he could bring a change to the “culture of prosecution” in Philadelphia, where the rate of incarceration per capita is the highest out of the 10 largest cities in the nation.

Despite Trump's interests in removing federal funding for sanctuary cities, Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney has firmly advocated to keep the city a haven for undocumented immigrants. In December 2017, the city successfully sued the Department of Justice for withholding federal funding over its sanctuary city status.

We already have clues.

George Soros and a group of liberal billionaires and mere centimillionaires and Democratic operatives joined forces a few years ago to form the Democracy Alliance. Each member of this group pays a membership fee and annual dues and also commits to support individual candidates and groups that promote their liberal ideology.

But what George Soros and company have also done over the years is try to reengineer the democratic process to achieve their goals.

While they counsel their members to keep their actions under the radar screen, we do know of some steps they have taken to further their agenda of changing the nature of our democracy.

Secretary of States Project

One of their more prominent efforts was the Secretary of States Project that worked to elect friendly Secretaries of States in certain battleground states in 2006. They had remarkable success in claiming Secretary of State's offices in eleven of thirteen critical states they had targeted.

These are the state officials charged with the responsibility of ensuring the integrity and honesty of the voting process. We can look at two of those states where their favored candidates won to see how their handiwork pays off.

Minnesota's Secretary of State in 2008 was Mark Richie (he still is in office). He gave credit for his own victory to the Secretary of States Project, and they trumpeted their own role in helping him get elected, lauding him as "arguably the most progressive Secretary of State in the nation." Even George Soros chipped in as an individual donor, as did many of the members of the Democracy Alliance.

Another good investment for Soros and Company.

After a hard-fought race, Mark Ritchie certified the Democrat Al Franken as the victor in the tight senatorial race between him and Republican Norm Coleman. The race involved other ploys by the Democracy Alliance that helped Franken become senator (see below). There was a dispute regarding the outcome since the vote totals were so close, and there were suspicious activities at various polling locations; legal challenges were mounted. Notably, George Soros hosted a fundraiser to help pay for Franken's expenses (such donations are not counted in federal campaign contribution limits).

Recently, there have been serious charges that the votes that put Franken over the top were fraudulent and should not have been counted in his column. Meanwhile Franken sleepwalks through his career as a senator -- voting reliably with other Democrats while not ridiculing Republican leaders such as Mitch McConnell.

The SOS Project was also successful in helping Jennifer Brunner become Ohio's Secretary of State in 2006 (she received over $165,000 from the SOS Project and credited help from the group for her victory). The payoff came quickly in 2008. She declined to hand over to county election boards 200,000 names on voter registration forms where the drivers license or Social Security numbers on the forms did not match the name. She also allowed Election Day registration and failed to purge election rolls of ineligible and dead voters. These are all recognized as invitations for fraud. The Secretary of State Project praised her work -- naturally. The Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) -- the subject of voter fraud investigations across the nation -- was also active in Get Out The Vote efforts in Ohio. Barack Obama and other Democrats swept to victory in Ohio.

The Secretary of States Project is still in operation and has expanded into other states over the last few years. While its latest effort to elect allies was swamped by the red tide, the operatives are still there -- always on the lookout to put their people in positions of power.

These are the officials who monitor not only federal elections, but also state elections and other powers at the state level. They are among the more powerful of state officials and often go on to run for federal office. One can see what a good investment in a Secretary of State can lead to.

Soros Chalks Up Another DA Win After Dropping Nearly $1 Million In Texas Race

George Soros has effectively purchased another district attorney’s seat.
The left-wing billionaire pumped almost $1 million into a Texas district attorney’s race against a Democratic DA who opposes sanctuary cities, according to campaign filings reviewed by The Daily Caller News Foundation.
Soros’s preferred candidate, Joe Gonzales, upset incumbent Bexar County DA Nico LaHood in the Democratic primary Tuesday. LaHood conceded after Gonzales jumped up to a sizable lead as votes were counted.

Soros spent $958,000 supporting Gonzales’s cause through a super PAC, Texas Justice & Public Safety, according to campaign finance records reviewed by TheDCNF. The super PAC churned out attack ads against LaHood, accusing him of being racist. LaHood accused Soros of trying to buy the election for Gonzales. Soros’s super PAC spent $897,000 of his money in the final 30 days before the election, campaign finance documents show.
Gonzales is now considered the favorite to win the DA election for Bexar County, which includes the city of San Antonio and is one of Texas’s largest counties. If he wins, Gonzales will join at least 11 progressive lawyers since 2015 who have won district attorney’s seats thanks to massive financial donations from Soros.

Soros has the routine down. He uses powerhouse Democratic law firm Perkins Coie to set up a super PAC named some variant of “Justice & Public Safety.” The super PAC will surface late in a DA race, using the kind of capital typically reserved for a national political race to fund a series of attack ads benefitting Soros’s preferred candidate, who wins almost every time.
The goal is to influence the nation’s criminal justice policies from the ground up by boosting progressive lawyers to victory in DA races around the country. It’s legal and appears to be working.
Soros poured $7 million into 11 district attorneys’ races across the country between 2015 and 2016, the Washington Times found. Soros’s preferred candidate won in nine of the 11 races. Soros repeated the move in two more races in 2017 tracked by The Daily Caller. Soros spent almost $2 million on the two races. His preferred candidate won both times.

Soros spent just under $1.7 million to help Philadelphia attorney Larry Krasner win his city’s DA seat in November. Soros pushed the money through his Philadelphia Justice & Public Safety super PAC. Soros gave the bulk of the donations, $1.45 million, during the primary, boosting Krasner to victory over a crowded Democratic field. Krasner coasted to victory in the general election. He purged 31 prosecutors in his first few days on the job.

The Democratic billionaire poured another $100,000 into a race for Portsmouth, Virginia’s DA race last November. Soros gave the money through a national super PAC called Justice & Public Safety. His preferred candidate, Democratic incumbent Stephanie Morales, coasted to victory.

Remarkably, Soros’s investment in the race received no media coverage until after the voters had cast their ballots.

Soros is also funding third-party organizations which are, in turn, targeting DA races in the 2018 elections. Soros-funded groups including the ACLU are making local DA races a national cause for progressives, which has tilted the playing field in favor of progressive lawyers. Soros’s Open Society Foundations gave the ACLU a $50 million grant in 2014 to fight mass incarceration.
In 2018, the ACLU is “planning voter education and outreach campaigns in district attorney races in California, Florida, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Vermont and possibly North Carolina and Missouri,” McClatchy reports.
The Soros-funded Color of Change PAC is also targeting DA races and seeks to mobilize black voters in favor of progressive candidates.
