Straw Poll: Congressman Mo Brooks Wins Second Forum in a Row
Montgomery, AL- Today, the Montgomery County Republican Executive Committee held a candidate forum for the U.S. Senate election set for August 15. GOP candidates Mo Brooks, Randy Brinson, James Berretta, Bryan Peebles, Tripp Pittman, Dom Gentile, and Luther Strange participated. Roy Moore was absent.
Afterwards, 134 Republican opinion leaders and attendees judged the debate and participated in a straw poll. Congressman Mo Brooks (AL-05) won the straw poll with 50 votes (37%). Randy Brinson, in his hometown of Montgomery, came in second with 33 votes (24%).

The straw poll victory comes days after Congressman Brooks also placed first in a post-forum straw poll conducted by the Christian Citizen Task Force in Huntsville on Thursday, July 6th. There, Congressman Brooks won with 101 votes (51%). Roy Moore came in second with 74 votes (37%) and Luther Strange received 3 votes (2%), tying for last place with “Australian” Mary Maxwell.
Congressman Brooks said, “As reflected by the polling data, our campaign has the momentum in this race. We continue to see a huge outpouring of support across the State of Alabama. With two straight successful forums followed by winning straw poll victories by large margins, it is clear our campaign message highlighting my spotless ethics record and record of proven conservative leadership is resonating with voters.”
