    Bush says we're stupid!

Well now he slaps us in the face by saying we need "really bright folks" from other countries to fill jobs! I don't know about you but I take that as an insult!

Bush asks for more visas for high-tech workers

President George W. Bush, who is touring the country as part of a weeks-long campaign to promote his 2006 agenda, called on Congress yesterday to raise the number of visas that allow companies to fill high-tech jobs with foreign workers.

"The problem is. . . that Congress has limited the number of H-1B visas," Mr Bush said, referring to the name of the official passport endorsement. "I think it's a mistake not to encourage more really bright folks who can fill the jobs that are having trouble being filled in America, to limit their number. So I call upon Congress to be realistic and reasonable to raise that cap."

The H-1B visa, which allows US employers to have access to highly educated foreign professionals, many of whom work in scientific research, medicine and technology, has been a point of contention between business and government over the past two years. High-tech industries battling talent shortages blame the visa programme's low cap on approved new workers.

In 1990 - the year it took effect - the cap was set at 65,000. That number was progressively raised by Congress during the technology boom and hit an all-time high for fiscal years 2001 through to 2003, at 195,000. In 2004, however, the cap dropped back to 65,000 and has stayed there since.

"It's clear we don't have enough workers with math and science degrees and in a workforce of 140m a cap of 65,000 is way too low," said Randy Johnson, the vice-president for labour, immigration and employee benefits at the US Chamber of Commerce. "The cap has filled almost immediately over the past two years."

Sandra Boyd, at the National Association of Manufacturers, the industry body, said that reforms to both the H-1B visa and green card programmes were key to helping US employers maintain their ability to create jobs in the US.

But Richard Elmore, a senior research fellow at the consortium for policy research in education at Harvard University, said the proposed change was little more than a "stop-gap ÂÂÂ*measure".

"I don't have anything against inviting people in but it doesn't address the main problem and that is the fairly major underinvestment in education in this country," he said. "We haven't built the talent pool."

MORON, US CITIZENS ARE TOO BUSY EDUCATING ILLEGAL ALIENS AND ANCHOR BABIES OF ILLEGAL ALIENS TO "BUILD THE TALENT POOL."

WE'RE ACTUALLY BEING FORCED TO DUMB DOWN AMERICA AND SOME IDIOT RESEARCHER HAS THE NERVE TO MAKE THIS STATEMENT!

FORGET "NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND". EDUCATE CHILDREN OF US CITIZENS. PUT THE US BACK ON TOP IN TECHNOLOGY.

ohflyingone, yes he thinks US citizens are dumb. I'd like to see some "really bright folks" in WASHINGTON for a change.

Bush's statement does not bother me . Look at the level of his intelligence , and he thinks WE are stupid? Even a dumb ole mountain girl like me knows that securing our borders would have been the FIRST security measure he should have taken after 9/11. Bush reminds me of Barney Fife ! Looks like someone let our Barney put the one bullet he carried in his pocket, into his gun, however. Now just look at what a disaster has come from it. No more bullets for Barney Bush!!

The H-1B visa, which allows US employers to have access to highly educated foreign professionals, many of whom work in scientific research, medicine and technology, has been a point of contention between business and government over the past two years. High-tech industries battling talent shortages blame the visa programme's low cap on approved new workers.
This statement is complete bull-bologna. Companies use the H-1B visas to REPLACE American workers with foreign workers. And to make it worse the H-1B workers pay almost nothing in taxes in the US. American companies hire companies like Tata and Syntel for technical projects and they bring in foreign workers instead of hiring Americans. We have college grads with technical degrees who can't find a job. WHY?

It's clear we don't have enough workers with math and science degrees and in a workforce of 140m a cap of 65,000 is way too low," said Randy Johnson, the vice-president for labour, immigration and employee benefits at the US Chamber of Commerce. "The cap has filled almost immediately over the past two years."
Another statement that is just not true.
Mr. Johnson is just too cheap to hire Americans.

We should end this sham of a visa program and farm out the UN-American maggots who hire H-1Bs starting with Mr. Johnson and his boss Mr. Donohue. I think they are with the Indian Chamber of Commerce--not the US Chamber of Commerce.

Bush calling Americans stupid is the epitome of the proverbial pot calling the kettle black!!!

There are NO jobs Americans won't do, just pay them a fair wage for it, and they'll do it.

It's not jobs that Americans won't do, it's employers who won't pay a fair wage and are being allowed to continue to get away with it by our government allowing them to import slave-wage workers to do the jobs!

If it's not bad enough that they are importing slaves to depress YOUR WAGES, YOU and I, the taxpayers, are subsidizing those employers paying those low wages too. Because those slave-laborers they import can't support themselves on those low wages, so they go get public assistance, put their kids in our schools, drive on our roads, etc., etc. and who's paying for it? YOU AND ME!!!!!!!!! Just so we can save a dime on a freaking head of lettuce or an apple!?!?!

I'll gladly pay more for my produce, or whatever product the slave-labor produces, if I can keep the America my children and grandchildren will live in from becoming akin to a third-world cesspool!!! How about you? Besides, if we put an end to this nonsense and we don't have to subsidize the slave laborers, our governmental expenses will go down, and so will our taxes.

Our elected officials are allowing this to happen - Democrat and Republican. They're failing miserably in their jobs. So we need to FIRE THEM and replace them with people who will do the job properly! Remember what they're doing to us and throw the bums out in November!!!

Vote for candidates that support immigration reform!! When they're running for office, ask them what their position is on immigration reform. If they're pro-immigration, don't vote for 'em! It doesn't matter what party they are! This issue is too important to vote by your party affiliation. Hold your nose and vote for the Democrat or the Republican if they're for immigration reform!! If we don't do that, they're going to keep us split along party lines and keep defeating us!! Democrats and Republicans need to come together on this!!

    Please! Everyone remember this point!

Another visa/guestworker program can not work. Many came here "legally", but overstayed their visas. We met some of them on 9/11. They sure took advantage of our disfunctional system. We have 3.1 million visa overstays "somewhere". Everyday we hear of a green card holder who commits a crime. This government can't handle the situation now. Are willing to allow another 15 to 20 million become "guest workers"?

Remember now, these new guest workers are "undocumented", right? That means they'll apply for their amnesty (er...guest worker)with NO documents. Just pick a name! THAT will be the name this government will issue a visa to. What a way for a criminal to gain a new identity with all the priveleges of a "guest worker". Many municipalties allow them to vote, get welfare.

"A report from the Homeland Security inspector general estimates at least 3.6 million illegal aliens are people here who overstayed their visas. Yet last year, there were only 51 agents dedicated to tracking visa violators"

This is a CRIME against the American People Who forced us to educate illegals in our public schools? Who forced us to have bilingual classes and Spanish only libraries? Who forced us to take in the children of transient illegal workers so our schools can be in constant turmoil. Who made it almost impossible for our bright kids to get what they need in our dumbed down schools?

Yes, PUT EVERYONE OF THESE SOBs now in your Senate OUT of OFFICE.

But first, let them know what you are planning to do

Our American children are being shortchanged. BUSH HAS GOT TO GO!!

Unfortunately we did this to ourselves because we weren't paying enough attention to what our elected officials were doing TO us as opposed to FOR us. Now we need to do something else for ourselves: we need to vote them all out of office.
