Ted Cruz Releases Birth Certificate Prompting the Question of a 2016 Presidential Run

Ted Cruz, Tea Party favorite, released his birth certificate on Sunday morning. Ted Cruz’s eligibility has been up for debate since he seems to be a likely candidate for president in 2016. This raises the question, will his college records be next?
Ted Cruz was born to an America mother in Calgary, Alberta. The U.S. constitution specifically states that a President must be a “natural-born citizen.” This includes a person born on foreign soil to American citizens.
“Senator Cruz became a U.S. citizen at birth, and he never had to go through a naturalization process after birth to become a U.S. citizen,” Cruz’s spokeswoman Catherine Frazier The Dallas Morning News. “To our knowledge, he never had Canadian citizenship, so there is nothing to renounce.”
The surrounding question of whether or not Cruz is eligible to run is very similar to questions raised of Obama’s birthplace as well. Even if Obama was born in Kenya as some claim, he would have still been eligible to run as president because his mother was a U.S. citizen. The question more-so is if Obama “lied” about his birthplace.
By Cruz already coming out this early in the game to release his birth certificate, it almost guarantees that he is looking at a presidential run. The Tea Party star has already visited Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina, three early states on the presidential calendar, in 2013.
