Texas Lawmaker on Amnesty: ‘Republicans Will Never Win a Presidential Election Again’

(CNSNews.com) – Rep. Steve Stockman (R-Texas) said Thursday that giving the estimated 12 million illegal aliens in the United States a path to citizenship will result in an increase in Democrat voters and will spell doom for the Republican Party’s presidential aspirations. “[Illegal aliens are] not going to come out of Mexico and became Libertarians,” Stockman told CNSNews.com at an immigration radio town hall event on Thursday in Washington, D.C. “It’s not going to happen.”
Stockman said his state is a bellwether for the future of the GOP if amnesty becomes the law of the land.
“Being from Texas, I can assure you it won’t help us,” Stockman said. “It will lose Texas, and once you lose Texas, the Republicans will never win another presidential election.”
Stockman said Republicans rightly refuse to vote for legislation pushed by Democrats that provides a pathway to citizenship for illegal aliens.
“That’s a non-starter,” Stockman said, “because they’re asking the Republicans to put a rope around their neck and hang themselves.”
When President Ronald Reagan gave amnesty to some 3 million people in the country illegally in 1986, Stockman said, the Republican Party lost control of the state of California, because the newly minted Americans went on to vote for Democrats, who they saw as more supportive of their plight.
There is a “direct correlation” between amnesty for illegal aliens and an increase in Democrat voters.
“They know that. We know that,” Stockman said. “It’s not a big secret.”
He joined a number of other Republican lawmakers, including Sens. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) and Mike Lee (R-Utah) and Reps. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) and Steve King (R-Iowa), members of the law enforcement community and activists for a radio-row town hall event focused on immigration, hosted by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR).

Having lived in Texas nearly 40 years some of that time in south Texas the modern illegal is much different then his predecessor, more likely to look for handouts vs work. The older illegals I worked with and knew lived a more conservative life, but the new era is far different more militant and for sure will vote left, Amnesty would be the end of Texas and believe me the Dem's know this.
I'm old with many opinions few solutions.
